Would Chanter be all that optimal as a ranged DPS? Also, as a ranged character, a lot of your buffs won't reach the front-line allies, and a lot of your debuffs/nukes won't reach front-line enemies either. Well the idea was to have this chanter in the backline with the other 2 dps, purely for damage chants. Then he can take the energized selfbuff invocation, teambuff invocation and the paralyzed one (has big range). But - open to suggestions. The selfbuff is pretty nice to combine with either an accuracy or attackspeed subclass - it wont be top level dps but combined with the buffs he offers he will bring a lot to this team.

3. Best ranged DPS: SC Wizard Hellwalker/streetfighter; blunderbuss modal, can also abuse mortification of the soul to get the blooded bonus (extra nice on human; high risk high reward). Berserker/ascendent; build for mindblades is especially powerful on encounters with a large number of enemies. Once he get's 1 killing blow it becomes a machinegun. Note that mindblades works with Brute Force and also triggers blood frenzy DoT.

Great thread! Imo: 1. Best tanks: Arcane knight: best obtainable defenses, available debuffs, selfhealing Swashbuckler: good tank 'n' debuff combined with excellent selfhealing Holy Slayer: Another variant of swash, with more AR and more support blended in. 4. Best support: Theurge: chanter offers flexibility to boost offense or defense/healing, while lifegiver is best healer with some debuff and cc Liberator: best passive healing, stack +healing done gear on him.

All right; going Herald then! As for MC, my MC will always be a DPS melee - of course, with some survivability. So it has to be Holy Slayer or Crusader or the like Nono I meant the support char should be Trouba/Livegiver Ah, ok - so you prefer Liberator over the Herald then Lol we are totally miscommunicating. Liberator vs herald vs templar: Herald, because chanter is king. But in my opinion best general supportclass: Theurge (troubadour/lifegiver). lifegiver > paladin because better heals, more cc.

I just built a paladin/chanter with passive healing, stacked up on +healing done gear. Only using healing chants as well. Now even my squishies are immortal lol. So to answer OP: its optional but very convenient. Either go for lazy passive healing like palachanter or make a multipurpose druid. Priest are overrated :D
