Would it kill them to make an original CRPG? Of course itt would. Its EA.

Sounds like a typical Bioware game. If I can get a X Box 360 premium under $100 then I will consider getting one for these games other than that I'll just wait til they port them over like they did for Jade Empire.

Of course there are individuals who no longer need the inhibitions of society because their instincts have "changed" or evolved. Those few individuals have transcended from our animal origins and the baser instincts have pretty much been "weeded out" of them. They are rare and if human society lasts long enough perhaps the entirety of the human race might reach that point.

For almost killing him? No. If you actually had killed him, probably, but at that your base instinct took over. Your instinct saw a threat and the fight or flight response took over and it chose to fight, to try to kill the transgressor. If I was in your shoes I would probably reacted the same.

The thing is if you place those good and decent people into the same position and history of those who commit the atorcities will they act with their inhibitions intact or would they act on their instinct? That is the key question. If you were in Hitler's place in history, raised as he was, experienced what he did, saw what he saw do you think you would be different from he or would act and react to the same situations as he would?

Human beings are animals, mammals belonging to the primate family, and just like all animals we have instincts that govern our behavior. Fear, hate, lust, and greed are all part of it. Those who do the vile acts are the ones who have let go of their inhibitions that have been hammered in us by society and civilization. Also I know this is a pointless argument as well. I am so bored its not even funny. Dammit, I need NWN 2. Grrrrr...

A few have Eldar, and I have no doubt that humanity can if they put forth the effort but we need to work towards it and not let petty differences tear us apart. However in the Middle East, Somalia, and similar location people don't care about anything except for the kill and to perpetuate the violence. Add to the fact that there are people out there that are too weak to fight their own base instincts, like the 5 US soldiers charged with the rape of a woman and the murder of her family, when they are outside their "civilization" they act like the animals we are.

Sarcasm does not serve you here, Alan, for there are remarkable individuals who have transcended this instinct but for the majority of our species we have not. For every Ghandi there are a dozen Stalins. For every Mother Teressa there are a hundred Jeffrey Dahmers.

It is only the facade of civilization and order that places the inhibitions. Remove that and any individual, may he or she comes from the social elite or the dregs of the street, will revert to their true nature. Also we have diversions that allows us to sate our need to kill. Games like Resident Evil and Doom, competition sports to exert our dominance over another, as well as fear of retribution if we break the laws of our society.

The only reason why I didn't "win" in Diablo because I got bored. Seriously, there was all this mindless clicking and an uninteresting story. There was no strategy involved in the combat, no memorable NPCs to interact with, and there was nothing to do but go after one mindless horde after another. Bottomline, there was nothing in the game to keep my interest. The same can be said about Diablo 2. The FMV sequences were cool but FMV in a game is like exposition in prose. Nice filler but that is all. Diablo is the worst CRPG ever made.

We are human beings. We are a violent and adversial species. Just look how we entertain ourselves. Just look how we resolve our problems. From the cradle tothe deathbed, it is in our instinct to wage war, to kill one another. For there to be a lasting peace we need to remove human element out of the equation.

No, but they are not helping matters, and for the most part their pressence are making things worse.

No problem, but I do think that Israel is in the wrong here. Because of the interference of th US and Great Britain in the region back in the 1940's to now is one of the reasons why the Middle East is so **** up right now. If Israel did not exist the world would be better off.

I thought the whole incident wa rather humorous. Of course that Italian guy now has to live with the shame of being beaten up by a Frenchman. HA!
