  1. After watching the trailer a couple times, I agree. Just before the cut where that single guy takes his quick slash, the PC is shown fighting several similar characters in the same room.
  2. Well, this brings up a question in my mind: Who's doing the writing? Was Bioware responsible for the writing in KOTOR 1, and is Obsidian now responsible for TSL? Or is Lucasarts responsible for the storyline in both games? I'm sure whatever the answer, Lucasarts more than likely has to approve of the story. Maybe a dev can chime in?
  3. Yeah, they kind of remind me of the holding chambers that you found people imprisoned in in various areas during KOTOR.
  4. Nice pics. I've only seen one of them before today.
  5. Alright, the "what role will Revan play" thread seems to be generating a decent amount of traffic, so I thought a poll might be interesting. I've already expressed my opinion more than once, I think he's dead for reasons stated in that thread. I don't want to hijack that thread, if your response is more related to the effect Revan will have on the PC, rather than whether he's dead or alive, please keep posting there. Thanks
  6. I voted Sion, because I like take no **** badasses. Sion seems like that. I have to say though, I'm interested to learn about the guy with the red gogles in the black armor that shows up in the trailer. Cool looking character.
  7. After reading through peoples theories & thinking about it, I still think that I'd be very surprised if Revan isn't 1) dead at the game's beginning, 2) dies early on into the game or 3) lives through all or most of the game, but has extremely limited direct influence on the character. It's going to be extremely difficult for the Devs to write in every choice that the player made in KOTOR that went into making Revan the player's Revan. If they can come up with every player's Revan in such a way that he behaves in a manner that causes people to think, "Yeah, that's my Revan", then great. But I don't think its possible. (Maybe I'm challeging the Devs???) I'd love to see Revan in the game acting in a manner that was consistent with the way I played him, in a manner that made him recognizable to me, and if the devs can do that based on a series of questions at the beginning of the game, than O.K., but I don't think it could be done. If it can't, and they do it to satisfy the fans that are clamoring to see Revan, than he'll really be a compromise in my opinion, and that's not cool. If Revan has to be a compromise to be in the game, I'd rather see him dead.
  8. I wouldn't spend $50 for KOTOR 2 when I already own KOTOR 1 if the only draw was the gameplay. And I wouldn't have played KOTOR through 3 times for gameplay either. For me, it was exploring other elements of the story that drew me back to play through KOTOR multiple times...
  9. I've caught Katarn using Lightning to dispatch enemies in JA. Shame on him.
  10. All good reasons to kill Revan. Maybe I should change my user name, LOL.
  11. Actually, it's not as far as you think. The Republic was pretty much on it's last legs in KotOR, and tons of Jedi had died or joined the Sith. And not too mention the fact that even more Jedi died on the Star Forge at the end. Revan may have defeated Malak, but the Republic and the Jedi are both still mangled. Heck, the Republic and the Jedi still hadn't recovered from the war with Exur Kun, so I imagine after the Mandalorian Wars and the war with Revan and Malak, they must be in really bad shape. The real departure, I believe, would be from the Dark ending. The impression I got from the DS ending is that the Republic was shattered, and that it shouldn't be on it's last legs after 5 years: it should be dead. Maybe that's just the impression i got. Hadn't thought about it like that, but yeah, I see what you're saying. Thanks for the insight.
  12. A lot can happen in five years. We know the Sith Lords have destroyed nearly all the jedi and the Republic is on its last legs. That's quite a departure from the LS ending in KOTOR. No doubt, Revan was a fun character in KOTOR, I enjoyed him too, but it wouldn't be the first time a cool SW character only had a major part in one episode of the story. A few, for examples from the movies: Jar Jar Ack!!!, O.K. not cool, I'll give you that one Jango Fett Darth Maul General Greivous, I think he has a pretty big role in Ep. III Qui Gon Jinn Grand Moff Tarkin Jabba the Hutt Admiral Ackbar
  13. I'm still very O.K. with the thought of Revan being dead. I could be wrong, but it seems the most plausible way to go to me. If the Devs are more creative than me (more than likely), and they come up with good way to make Revan a major character, then bravo, but I'm not holding my breath. Besides, if Revan's dead, written out of the story by the Devs, I think that the players who would be upset with the Devs for killing him would be willing to forgive them if there was a mourning Bastilla in need of comfort, LOL> :D
  14. It's still just 3 total characters at any given moment. Don't let the trailer fool you. -Akari O.K. Thanks for the reply, Akari.
  15. Here's a thought: Since the PC is in possesion of the Ebon Hawk, wouldn't that imply that he's probably had some kind of contact with Revan between KOTOR 1 & 2? I'm just thinking that he may have a closer tie to Revan than just being one of the Jedi that followed him into the Mandalorian Wars. Any ideas?
  16. I want to play the game for the story & the characters, more than anything else. There's really no way to tell yet whether it'll be beter than the first game in that respect, although things look promising.
  17. Hey Devs, I have a question after watching the newly posted trailer. In a couple of instances, and particularly at 0:35, it looks like the party off the Ebon Hawk includes a total of four characters. Will the PC be able to take more than the 2 characters that he was limited to in KOTOR 1 when he leaves the Ebon Hawk? From what I've read, I've been under the impression that the 3 character party would be the rule for the next game. Thanks in advance.
  18. Hmm, I missed that. Maybe Bastilla did a little side work on a certain episode of Seinfeld??? I still think it would be a reasonable way to go with her character, though. Guess we'll have to wait & see. EDIT: Hit the wrong quote button, I meant to quote you, Ivan. Sorry for the newb mistake.
  19. I've been thinking about the Masked Sith, and I'm starting to think what if it's Bastilla? Here's my thoughts. If you ended the first game DS, it would be an easy way for the Devs to write Revan out of the story. Bastilla killed him & assumed the title of Lord of the Sith, and takes on the currently assumed Darth Ni name. If you ended as a light sider, Bastilla already showed that she's been tempted by the Dark Side, who's to say she didn't give in the the Dark side during the five years between 1 & 2. With no clear dark lord at the end of 1, it wouldn't be a stretch to assign the role to here. Again, she could have killed Revan, likely in a showdown with him that could be portrayed in a cutscene. Alright, there's my theory. Do you think it's plausible, or is there something in the storyline I'm missing that nixes my thoughts?
  20. Aside from the obvious affect Revan will have on how the game begins, I think it would be best if he/she didn't have a large role in the the next game. I think if he ended KOTOR 1 as a lightsider, he should be dead, killed by the Sith, and if he ended as a darksider, he should be dead, maybe killed by Bastilla. After all, it was clearly explained in KOTOR 1 that it is the lesser Sith's duty to eventually challenge the Sith Master, right? Whatever happens to Revan, I'd be happy just seeing a cutscene giving a credible explanation of what happened to him and move on.
  21. I haven't played Fallout, but if it works out similar to how people here are descirbing it, I think I'd be happy.
  22. It would be nice if using a dark or light side power would move the PC closer to neutral, so if you've been walking the light path and then use lightning, it moves you toward the gray area. I don't think it should continue to move you into the dark, however. That should be determined by how you play the game, not which powers you use. It would be cool if the number of dark side points it gives you were determined by how far into the light side you were, in order to strongly discourage a maxed out light sider from using dark powers. Of course the opposite would apply to a DS character using LS powers. I think it should be up to the player which powers he chooses when he levels up. Don't restrict him from buying powers that aren't consistent with his allegience.
  23. Not enough evidence to clearly prove anything, but in preview articles, the development team have expressed an interest in increasing replayability. I think including as many endings as possible would certainly increase replayablility. It's just something I'm hoping for.
