  1. Info covers aftermath of Clone War on to the Vong War. By the end of the war, however, only a trio of the 212 shock troopers was thought to have survived: childhood friends Tobbi Dala and Fenn Shysa, and a shell shocked Alpha-02. Dala and Shysa returned to their impoverished homeworld, hoping to live out their lives in peace. However, the Galactic Empire eventually caught up with them. When Dala gave his life to rid Mandalore of Imperials, Shysa realized that the time to revive the Mandalorian supercommandos had come. Under Shysa as Mandalore, the Protectors flourished. They assisted the Alliance of Free Planets in defending Known Space from the Nagai and Tof invaders, and helped deliver the crusial blow in the New Republic's campaign against Lord Shadowspawn. For decades, however, the Protectors served chiefly as quardians of the Mandalore Sector until the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion. Led now by the former bounty hunter Boba Fett, the Mandalorian Protectors returned conditionally to their mercenary ways for a time before committing themselves unilaterally to defending the galaxy from Vong occupation. Only time will tell who will reign as Mandalore after Fett is gone and what the future holds for the Mandalorian shock troopers. Go here for Art of the Article: http://www.joecorroney.com/cgi-local/image...ars_Insider_Art Edit: sorry, Joe no longer has all the Mandalorian art on one page. Most of it can be found together on the 3rd and 4th pages though. If anyone has any question's feel free to ask. The Article mostly sum's up the history. The Article itself goes into further detail of the characters later in the article.
  2. Info covers Mandalorian involvement in Clone War Jango died as the Clone Wars began, but thanks to one of his clones, the Mandalorian tradition survived, Alpha-02, an aberrent ARC trooper the Kaminoans failed to recondition, became obsessed with rebuilding the Mandalorian supercommandos. Returning to Mandalore, he recruited an army of 200 soldiers from local police units, and another dozen came from the unlikeliest source---former Death Watchmen. Near the Clone Wars' climax, these new Mandalorian Protectors helped Mandalore's government seize the MandalMotor's facilities in the capital of Keldabe for Separatist use. Squads of Mandalorian supercommandos carried out covert missions for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Following the death of a prominent Separatist commnader, the Mandalorian Protectors armed with a Battle Legionaire droid army executed multiple devastating blitzkriegs on Republic targets, including Kamino and New Bornalex. Next Up: The aftermath of the Clone War, and the rise of the Mandalorians.
  3. More history: Info prior to the outbreak of the Clone War Jaster Mereel, a deeply pious human and extraordinary soldier. Immediately noticed a deep seated dissatisfaction in the hearts of many a hard boiled Mandalorian. As a former Journeyman Protector. Mereel brought a strong ethic that extended far beyond the limited Mandalorian ideology of fighting for credits. His prowess in combat earned him the respect of his peers, and when Mereel fought tooth-and-nail to become the reigning Mandalore and unite the disparate clans, his ideals became the foundation of a new creed: the suppercommando Codex. Not all agreed with Mereel's ideas, however. Many bloodthirsty and amoral Mandalorians resented him, having enjoyed the unaccountability of their mercenary lifestyles. Among them was the soldier Vizsla, who gathered the dissenters into a splinter grounp, the Mandalorian Death Watch. Mereel's supercommandos, in turn, recast themselves as the True Mandalorians, and total war ensued. The Mandalorian Civil War not only killed Mereel and Vizla, but it also nearly destroyed the Mandalorians. Only a handful of Death Watch survived the superior organization and skill of the True Mandalorians, hiding out in the Outer Rim for decades. The latter, though, were totally wiped out when the Jedi were duped into thinking the True Mandalorians had wrought grave atrocities on the population of Galidraan. Only one True Mandalorian, Jango Fett, survived, and he later became the primary donor for the Republic's clone army. NEXT; The Clone War, and the Return of the Mandalorians.
  4. As you notice the Article doesn't take into account the Sith offer to the Mandalorians, that started the Mandalorian Wars. Abel thought that for the Article, it didn't fit. But the Sith were probably the reason the Mandalorians believed that the "Great Last War" was coming.
  5. Glad you liked. Might write the rest later, but I'd like some more interest though. It's tiring, writing all that stuff. Article was written by Abel G. Pena and Illustrated by Joe Corroney(I'll post link to his art for the article later). Abel also wrote the, "Who's Who Grand Admirals," and a few other pieces for insider. He is now working on stuff for Wizards of the Cost. All of this stuff is continuity, and is the defining source for Mandalorian history used by the holocron.
  6. I'm bored, so I'll write the Mandalorian history leading up, and perhaps a little after, the Mandalorian Wars. I figure some might like to know what's up with the Mandalorians. All info is exact, from the Article in issue 80 of Insider. (If you want me to write the rest down after reading this part, just tell me) History Lessen The history of the Mandalorian shock troppers goes back a long way, some say to the dawn of recorded galactic history. Though in modern times the Mandalorians have become a grab-bad of alien races, including humanoids, Togorians, and Kerestians, the Mandalorians were once strictly a gray-skinned warrior race. Xenoanthropologists believe that this original Mandalorian species was descended from the ancient Taung Shadow Warriors of the Dha Werda Verda legend. Particulary complelling are the similarites between the Mandalorian language and the surviving Taung texts. The Planet Mandalore has figured steadily in Mandalorian history, though whether it was the planet of origin remains disputed; legend has it the world was named after its conqueror Mandalore the First, whose warriors slaughtered the mammoth mythosaurs that dominated the planet. Historically, the Mandalorians often made conquered planets their home, planets such as the great gladiatorial combat world of Kuar during the Great Sith War and the surreal Shogun years before that. This pratice led to the use of the name "Mandalore" as the title signifiying the appointed leader of the Mandalorian Clans. Thus, "home" was acknowledged as wherever the Mandalore deemed to hang his mask. The traditional Mandalorian crest, frequently mistaken for the Bantha skull, bears a striking resemblance to the skull of a male mythosaur. But in truth, the symbol was actually adopted in reverance to a legendary Mandalorian combat-training master. The Mandalorian shock troopers have undergone many permutations. The oldest documented incarnation is the Mandalorian Crusaders from around 4000-5000 years BBY. Made up of the clans of simianlike humanoids, these nomads roamed space seeking conflict, following a code called the Canons of Honor. The Canons aimed at helping warriors attain personal glory via combat and loyalty to one's clan. Despite this simplistic aim, the Crusaders were scarcely primitive, placing highest priority on plundering cutting edge weaponry at every opportunity. The label of Mandalorian Crusader is misleading. It's thought that the Crusaders' forefathers were a religious warrior society with sophisticated laws that devolved into the cannons. But following the Mandalorians' epic clashes with the insectoids of Nevoota, war, once a ritual form of worship to Mandalorian gods, became itself devine and reverential. Henceforth, any comapign promising holy carnage was regarded a "crusade." This mentality led the Crusaders to eradicate entire species like the Fenelar, Tionians, and Kuarans. Thousands of years later, the Ithullans too would suffer the same fate. In fact, the only species to survive a full fledfed Mandalorian onslaught were the neighboring Mandallian Giants. These fierce combatants not only repelled Mandalorian attacks but earned enough respect to later fight beside them. Unsurprisingly, the Mandalorian Crusaders jumped at the chance to participate in the Great Sith War in about 4000 BBY. Fighting for the Sith, these soldiers of fortune struck at the Republics very heart of Coruscant. However, the Jedi eventually rallied and defeated the Sith and their Mandalorian allies. But that didn't stop the Mandalorians. On the contrary, the temporary defeat precipitated a frenzied conviction that the "Great Last Battle" was at hand. For 20 years, the Mandalorians zealously invaded small non-Republic worlds on the fringe of Known Space, raiding their resources and building up a powerful army. Anticipating an apocalyptic war, the Neo-Crusaders began accepting members of other species into their midst, treating these "converts" as equals. Together, they unleased a series of jihads known simply as the Mandalorian Wars. After three long years, the reigning Neo-Crusaders chieftain Mandalore the Ultimate was killed, and the Mandalorians were defeated. Many thought them extinct, and it's largely conceded that the Mandalorian species itself all but vanished from the galaxy then. However, its warrior culture survived. Following their failed campaign, the Crusaders found a new object of worship-- the almighty credit. Decimated and embittered, the surviving Mandalorian warriors turned ruthlessly mercenary in order to survive. Informally called Mandalorian Mercs, these individuals hired out their lethal talents to the highest bidder without regard to silly notions like justice, morals, and honor. Some loyal Mandalorian shock troopers, such as Canderous Ordo and Master Jaing, successfully brought some of the clans to heel. Many other Mandalorian Mercs, however, carried on this ruthless agenda for millennia as evidenced by the villainous Ung Kusp as well as the Mandalorian shock trooper participation in the seemingly endless New Sith Wars, lasting from 2000-1000 years ago. But then, a few decades before the outbreak of the Clone Wars, one man changed everything.
  7. Um, actually, HK explicitly states that he believes that the battle of Malachor V could have made Revan reflect on other ways than genocide to achieve his goals. Thus, HK-47 was born. Even if HK is wrong, he wouldn't make this assumption if he had been created before Malachor V. So, yes, it's a continuity mistake no matter how you look at it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, fair enough. I'll just choose not to listen to that dialog... (well I'll listen to it, then reload and not listen to it) As for the Mandalorian titles... yuk. Not fond of that idea- personally I always liked the notion that the Mandalorians tried to present Mandalore as unkillable- so if Mandalore was about to face death he'd leave his mask behind (or if he died it would be on him obviously) and then whatever mandalorian happened upon him would know that "their tradition must continue" and just take on the mantle of Mandalore. Thus Mandalore would be presented as this ever-living being (in terms of tradition, obviously they'd know he was mortal)... kinda like what happens with the Phantom. Of course that was thrown out with KotOR2 (probably other EU stuff before too) saying they were selected (it makes more sense, but it's not as cool). Of course, Canderous also says "I *am* too Mandalore, I found his helmet!" which I found funny. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think they called them by full title during the time they were living. Well perhaps, Mandalore the Ultimate.
  8. Well that's it then. Perhaps we can get an apology from Obsidian. A complete apology, unlike the game, lol. That's the least the can do Hey, Adam's lerking. Maybe he can do it?
  9. Oh and just incase you might wonder, "What were the other Mandalore's called?" Mandalore the First: first Mandalore, and the conquerer of Mandalore Mandalore Indomitable: Sith War Mandalorian the Ultimate: Mandalorian War Mandalore the Resurrector: Clone War
  10. The Mandalorian War, Mandalore, was given the title in the Mandalorian Article in insider issue 80. So according to continuity he will forever be known as, Mandalore the Ultimate. Why? First the Sith: In KOTOR 2, again it is implied that the the Sith were the reason for the Mandalorian Wars. The True Sith. Back to the Why? (The article doesn't mention the sith, but since they were apart of the reason, I'll add them) The Sith put into the mind of the Mandalore/Mandalorians that the great climatic war was coming for the Mandalorians. This made the Mandalorian see there leader as the Great God that would lead them into war. Thus he became, Mandalore the Ultimate.
  11. Um, what? HK in KOTOR 2 says he was built after Malachor. Mandalore the Ultimate, was dead then, and thus HK couldn't have faught him after Malachor. KOTOR implys his creation before Malachor, because that's when Mandalore the Ultimate was still alive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You meant that the other way around right? KotOR *implies* his creation after Malachor, but doesn't explicitly state it: "You created me shortly after you and your apprentice began your war to conquer the galaxy" Now when is that hmmm? Everyone assumed it was *after* the Mandalorian Wars, I'd say it was pretty much at the start of the Mandalorian wars, especially with what we know about Revan's motivations from KotOR2. (also think about it- why would Revan send HK-47 into "Mandalorian Space" after there WASN'T ANY MANDALORIAN SPACE LEFT????!!!! The clans had disbanded after the MW. "Mandalorian Space" was no more. Also, I think Revan would want to assassinate mandalorians during the Mandalorian Wars as opposed to after them) I haven't had enough influence with HK to get his KotOR 2 conversations so there might be some confusion. Also, where the HELL has this "Mandalore the Ultimate" stuff come from? It sounds distinctly Supershadow in origin... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There is still a Mandalore Sector. Which IS MANDALORIAN SPACE. Well according to HK, he faught Mandalore the Ultimate, or another Mandalore.
  12. Um, what? HK in KOTOR 2 says he was built after Malachor. Mandalore the Ultimate, was dead then, and thus HK couldn't have faught him after Malachor. KOTOR implys his creation before Malachor, because that's when Mandalore the Ultimate was still alive.
  13. But that means they would've had to have been sent, before Mandalore the Ultimate perished? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly Hey, don't look at me, I always assumed that another Mandalore rose not long after Ultimate. And that a Mandalore was around during the time's of KOTOR. But no, Obsidian wanted Canderous to be Mandalore.
  14. The Basilisk in KOTOR 2 is a Stealth model. So the Virago was designed off the stealth model, not the battle droid.
  15. I caught an ingame error. May have been reported already. In one of the options Kreia gives to Exile in telling what he can do, she says he can stay on Malachor(and train new Jedi). However, even if this option was available, Malachor still go boom. Now is A) Kreia thinking Exile to be stupid enough to stay on a doomed planet? B) this line might have meant to go with the original ending where Malachore not go boom, but is intead used as an academy?
  16. There was no Mandalore on Kashyyk. There were Mandalorians sent by, Mandalore the Ultimate, to kashyyk.
  17. new mistake According to KOTOR, HK was built before Malachor. However according to KOTOR 2 HK is built after Malachor. Which can't be correct because HK is supposed to fight Mandalore the Ultimate, and since Mandalore the Ultimate was killed by Revan at Malachor Hk couldn' t have faught him. Unless of course HK got beat by a Dead Man
  18. Party Members: Bastila Jolee HK(with remote) T3 Dustil Onasi(non crazy version) Falleen Bothan Feeorin Non Party Members: Carth Mandalore Admiral Dodonna Cassus Fett Calo Nor Visas Handmaiden HK-51's Planets: Coruscant: Planet Mandalore: (The Mandalorians have become a big part of the series. Why shouldn't they have their planet in the game?) Alderaan: Hapes/Korus Major Manaan/Unknown World Ithor New Planet New species: Togorian Mandallian Morgukai Falleen Lepi Bothan Camassi Feeorin PLOT: No idea. Something epic and explosive; with the feeling of ROTJ and a conclusion. A good ending, and a rememorable enemy in the True Sith. Other stuff: Influence system should allow player to get influence no matter what alignment is. Respect for continuity: I have no problem with things looking different, but stuff like a Basilisk War Droid should look almost like a Basilisk War Droid, not something entirely different. Better Planet Maps with more interesting places
  19. The only thing I hate is the Dustil cameo. What a waste of good character. I've noticed that Mandalore doesn't go with the Hawk to Malachor
  20. Actually as it stands to continuity the Virago is wrong, but will none the less become continuity. However it will only be looked at as a version of the Basilisk, not the actual Basilisk itself. Most likely it will be looked at as a stealth model. Know what, I think it is a stealth model. I the Mandalorian Article makes mention of it. And concidering it's lack of weapons, it clearly isn't a battle droid.
  21. No, he doesn't. He says something along the lines of 'only 6 cm of armor between him and the atmosphere', but he doesn't state clearly that it was his personal armor. And a body armor 6 cm thick would be a bit... cumbersome. Since it's not a Virago (it's a Basilisk in case you didn't get it the first 100 times), you don't really know how powerful that thing is. It passed through the blockade around Onderon, so it must have been at least moderately powerful. You don't decide what's right and what's wrong in SW, mind you. Unless you can put forward proof of something that hasn't happened yet, that's another random assumption on your part. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IT's a Virago. A Virago up against a fleet of ships wouldn't do anything. A Beast has those generating robs that can charge and fire a powerful beam. Which goes along with Canderous in saying that he and his squad took out those ships in little time. And the Mandalorian article says that the Neo Crusader armor was thick. Oh wow it passed through the blockage, Yay. and according to continuity it is wrong. That Virago doesn't looke like a Basilisk, therefore it isn't. And I already said it was an assumption, for how long is the question. That Virago is a Version of the Basilisk nothing more. Even Chris said it was a version.
  22. You don't have proof. Thus, it's a random assumption. As somebody pointed out earlier, you may 'ride on' in your car. And Canderous doesn't specify that the armor protecting him was actually body armor. It could be the c0ckpit's armor. (freaking censor!) So? That doesn't change the fact that it was approved. I know. And the fact that a Basilisk could deal with fleets of warships is a testament to how lame and overpowered everything was in TotJ. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can ride IN your car, I don't know many people who ride ON their cars. Be a little dangerous. Oh and Canderous does say that it's his armor protecting him, 6 centimeters of armor that is. Canderous also speaks of how his Basilisk squad destroyed an entire section of a fleet. Those Virago's couldn't have done that, but the weapons on the beast could. I never said anything about it being approved, of course it's approved, but it's also wrong. They've done it so many times in the past, and have messed with continuity each time leaving the keepers to fix everything. The keeper's will fix this as well, and just make that Virago a version of a Basilisk nothing more(Oh I'm assuming, until it's done of course)
  23. That's you making random assumptions. For all I know, GL himself was flabbergasted at the quality of the new Basilisk concepts. More random assumptions. And there was no contradiction regarding KotOR. The only contradiction was to TotJ, and I'm glad they did it that way. The TotJ Basilisk looks stupid (to put it mildly) and it's ridiculously overpowered just like everything else in those comics. KotOR 2 has a hundred times more SW feel to it than TotJ ever did. You are wrong. It is a Basilisk, like it or not. LFL has supported it. It's your word against theirs. No, in fact I think it would look even worse in 3D. I already had 2 full dimensions of that crap, 3 would be too much for me. Well, if you aren't happy, you can always try to do better yourself. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually on the first part their is no assumption. If it had been up to the continuity keepers, it would have looked like the beast. Actually it does contradict KOTOR. Canderous says he rode his basilisk into battle, and reentered the atmo with only his armor as protection. Clear signs of the beast being used. He rode, and wasn't in a closed cokpit. You have to ride the beast, and there is no cover. Only the Mandalorian armor protects you in space. Funny, LFL license supported the beast in 3 sources to KOTOR 2's one. Not to mention approving the beast Basilisk after KOTOR 2 in the Mandalorian article. Oh, and that's your opinion on the matter of the Basilisk looking stupid. But that stupid Basilisk would make short work of that Virago.
  24. Approved or not, LFL didn't look much into your concept art. They probably saw your design, said ok, and that's how it went. A month later they approve the Beast as the real Basilisk War droid in the Mandalorian article. I have no problem with them changing stuff to make it look more like the movies, the games do take place 40 years after the Sith War. But stuff that already has an established look like the Valley and the Basilisk shouldn't be changed. In the end you made the Basilisk ten times weaker then the descriptions that came out of Canderous mouth, and the Sith War comics. You contradicted KOTOR by using the Virago. You could have made the Basilisk still look like a beast with a few minor modifications to make it feel modern in terms of the movies. Still the Basilisk being a beast is continuity. You said the Basilisk looked stupid(the viraga looks stupid), but at any time during the process did you ever take into account those who might actually have liked the beast? You just said that looks stupid, drew a concept, sent it to LFL, they approved it, and that was it. That Virago isn't a Basilisk War Droid. IT's not even a droid for that matter. Is it to much to ask that you developers at least stick to continuity, no matter how silly something looks. I mean did you ever think that the Beast could possibly look less silly in 3D imaging? If you make KOTOR 3( and I know you won't reply to this in your next post, but keep it in mind) keep things the way they are, silly or not. It's not to hard to use both versions is it. Some people might actually like the beast, and want to see it whip some Sith ass.
  25. I'll give you a short little piece of Mandalorian history. One of Jango's Clones, Spar, began to having some of Jango's memories and escaped Kamino. He went to Mandalore(home world of the Mandalorians) and began to rebuild the Mandalorians. Spar was given the title Mandalore the Resurrector by the Mandalorian Government. His army was only made up of 212, but they reeked havak during the Clone War. Devastating Kamino and a few other worlds in the name of Mandalore and Confederacy. By the end of the Clone War, only 3 Mandalorian supercommando's would survive: Spar, Fenn Shysa, and Tobi Dala. Spar went crazy as Jango's memories began to flood his mind, and Tobi and Fenn returned to Mandalore to find it in the control of Imperials and slavers. Tobi would die freeing Mandalorian of slavers, and Fenn Shysa would become the new Mandalore. He would also be the first ruler of the Mandalorians in some time, as the government was disbanded. He took back the entire Mandalore Sector, and helped the New Republic defeat some warlords. After about 20 years, just prior to the outbreak of the Vong war, Boba Fett was hired by Taun We to kill Shysa. Taun wanted the last survivor of the SC's could destroyed Kamino dead. On the plains of Shogun, Fenn and Boba faught, but in the end Fenn died saving Boba from some unknown threat. In honor of Fenn, Boba rejoined the Mandalorians, and became their new Mandalore. Boba unleashed the Mandalorian, now back to being a grand army, on the Vong. Defending and Liberating many worlds from the Vong. * As you can see the Mandalorians never truely died. EDIT: And just in case anyone might want to know this. The Mandalore in the Mandalorian Wars was known as, Mandalore the Ultimate.
