  1. Yeah I was wondering the same thing, why would it go in the backpack? It's not in a quick item slot unless they consider an equipment slot as also like a quick item slot and is a solid item from which you got the spell. The other "real" spells come from a grimoire, just postulating.
  2. I want to apologize for raising this issue, it's not a bug after all. I was looking in the abilities selection on the wheel, it's not there, the spellbind shows up in the player's backpack selection on the wheel! Ugh sorry to bother everyone, I'm relieved though

  4. It's still a problem on the PC version after 3 years from release??? Yikes. Sorry, I didn't get your previous reply to my other thread in time, I've posted it on Paradox and won't post anymore PS4 problems here.
  5. I'm playing with the PS4 version of PoE and spellbind worked the first time after equipping the Amulet of Summer Solstice. After removing the amulet and equipping it on someone else, the spell did not show up for the other character. I gave it back to the original equipper and the spell does not show up for him now either. This is after many hours of adventuring, rebooting the PS4 and resting the characters many times. The post above is 3 years old and maybe they fixed it on the PC, but spellbind does not appear to work on the PS4; however it did once after the first equipping! This sounds like the situation of a variable in the code not being refreshed, who knows? Please fix this annoying problem or at least let me know what I'm doing wrong. It's not quite game-breaking for me, but the spellbind is such a nice feature I would hate to have to play with it disabled for the rest of the game as I'm sure there are many spellbind items to be found. If they only work once after first equipping them then at least say it in the description of the item or fix it please.
  6. I've equipped Durance and the Grieving Mother with the Amulet of Summer Solstice and the Cape of the Cheat respectively. Durance's amulet was supposed to give him Sunbeam and the Grieving Mother's Escape. At first they showed up under the player abilities wheel selection. Then later after some adventuring, I decided to give the Sunbeam cape to the pc, it never showed up as available on the pc's selection wheel anywhere. Then I gave it back and equipped it on Durance again, it has never showed up again as an available spell. I also noticed the Grieving Mother's Escape selection disappeared too, I think I tried her cape on someone else too but put it back on her. However, these spells show up in their character sheet. Am I doing something wrong or is this a bug?
  7. PoE 2 available on PS4 according to Amazon, I just pre-ordered it. https://gamefragger.com/pc/pillars-of-eternity-ii-confirms-console-release-this-holiday-a8274
  8. I'm new to this board and need to tread a little more lightly , tangling with a writer is that last thing I wanted to do! I really liked what you said here: "You could just be a grinder that does factions and side quests just to get particular stuff for a particular build. But the optional content still holds a surprising amount of grey morality that is compressed in a few sentences, and sometimes--few words. But if you pay close attention, you will discover that quite often the situations you are presented with are not so easy to conclude if you put yourself in the picture as yourself. Again, all of these are details presented with almost the bare minimum. But it does hold a good value for those willing to look at the small things. Quite literally--the longer you look, the better it gets." Its so true and the more I play PoE, the more it draws me in. You could say that about every game I guess, but there have been many games that I have started and the more I played it the more I disliked it. Some games start out great but can't keep up the novelty once you scratch the surface, they end up being quite shallow (Two Worlds 2 and Dungeon Siege 3 come to mind and countless others).
  9. The Chill Of Sarcasm (Fog) is dissipating and I have emerged unscathed but not completely sarcastic-free. Liking my rant above was a totally cool thing to do by the OP, the best sarcastic "LIKE" I have ever seen! Thanks for the overlooking of my shortcoming of not reading your review entirely. If there was a trap that had a sign on it that said "BEWARE OF TRAP" I would probably try to walk right over it!
  10. One thing I really don't understand is: if you dislike this game so much why take the time to write a review like this, and then put it in the community board for the game???? It's very troll-like. (And here I am responding to it, ugh) If I hate a game, I just move on, there's plenty of genres of games to choose from, many different styles. I don't go into a game's board and trash it if I don't like it. I am not a fan-boy nor a hater, however I am an opponent of time-wasters like this review. I don't have the time to sit and counter every point you made (and I pretty much disagree with everything you said), I'd rather spend my time doing something I love, like playing this game.
  11. Mop-up with the spear and shield makes sense for the cipher, thank you. One question I always had about switching weapon sets during combat, is it instantaneous or does it take time in combat to switch sets? I haven't even been to Defiance Bay yet to start Act II yet doing all the quests (Dyrwood ones too) I can get and going down as far as I can in the stronghold dungeon (down to level 7 now). I've got everyone levelled up to 7 and will try some bounties before going to DB. I'm savoring every minute of my first run taking my time and being thorough. Another question: once I start Act II will there be previous areas that won't be available any more or is every place I had been to still be available?
  12. Will the Cipher ever use the small shield and spear? I was wondering because I'm going in different directions with the Grieving Mother, the sawed off shotgun and the rifle, when I get the 3rd slot I should go melee? I'm still going through my first run in the game as a Ranger and am enjoying the heck out of it, the game is getting better the more I play it, it really draws you in.
  13. The best one to me is not a video but a guide that you can easily jump around to the exact information pertinent to you; this prevents inadvertently revealing a lot of spoilers that you will get in a video because once you see it, it is impossible to unsee it. It is a guide that will take you from from character creation to the last Act. Try: https://guides.gamepressure.com/pillarsofeternity/ As far as a video guide to this game, good luck because PoE is not linear however: video guides are. Yes the network has choke-points, to get to Act II you'll have to do this and to get to Act III you'll have to do that, but does a video player really do everything that could be done in a particular Act? There will be hundreds of possible combinations to get through this game so watching one person's path may be helpful but not really manifest the richness of this game for you nor reveal everything there is to be found. Yes you will want to see how one person handled a situation in a video, but finding these situations is tedious unless the video creator put in strategic tabs for you to jump to. This may be the reason why you're having a hard time finding a good video playthrough, the time it would take to make a comprehensive video guide would be a major task that many are not willing to give their time to. Some games lend themselves well to video guides, I don't think this one does.
  14. You'll have to find a previous save just before you went in and do your preparations before you enter.
  15. Are you new to PoE or to these kinds of CRPGs? With this game you can do many run-throughs, I suggest doing what Mygaffer stated above, "Just roll with the story companions for your first play through." The game is a blast, there's no one way to do things, it's fun to experiment and try different things.
  16. Hmmm... perhaps that has had some effect on my inability to figure out how to get the full measure when it's supposed to be more than 1. Yeah I'll get to a place after travelling a long time and at the destination sometimes all of their portraits start turning red indicating lack of endurance, in spite of the portraits showing symbols for a camp and an Inn rest.
  17. Can we assume you've already finished PoE? I'm not trying to be critical but does this thread belong here when PoE isn't even mentioned? Obviously yes, since it's here, hmm. Anyway, I suggest Divinity Original Sin (DOS), it is more like PoE than any of the other games mentioned. I've played Skyrim to death for 2 years then someone stole my PS3 along with the millions of gold I had amassed in the game. I interpreted the theft as a blessing because Skyrim was taking over my life and didn't realize until after it was gone that there are other games out there. I played DAInquisition for a while, dropped it for Witcher 3. These 2 games were trying to keep pace with Syrim wrt it's sandbox style and huge worlds to explore, so I really was just trying to reproduce my experience with Skyrim when I played them. Then I picked up DOS and what a refreshing change, truly a great game and DOS2 is just out this September so there's a LOT of RPG gaming available with DOS and DOS2.
  18. I've noticed that if I do a lot of travelling in between rests, a night of rest will disappear. For example, if you travelled for more than 18 hours before resting, a 3 night rest benefit may turn into a 2.
  19. If there ever was a place that could facilitate an end-game in PoE this would be it. The stronghold would be the place to go for: - new radiant quests, - storage of the many things you have found, - aggrandizing buildings: add bathrooms, landscaping, trophy room, etc., - a zoo or wild reserve for strange beasts you have caught which would have to add a new ability to catch a beast instead of killing it, - randomized dungeon that would regenerate after you finished the previous one, - a bank for your coin and other financial possibilities, - etc. etc. etc. you could go on forever with things to do here.
  20. I went into Dyrford Crossing during Act I without the Nest Egg task, defeated all of the bandits near the cliff below the egg; I had a grappling hook and rope with Athletics well above the requirement at 7, however no interaction to get up the cliff, just an addendum to my task information saying I may need to check my supplies. Then I went back and got the quest from Heynda (sp?) and the returned to the cliff, still no interaction, just the same addendum. Is this a problem? Do I need to wait until Act 2? Solved! I have the PS4 Console version, I had to 'x' around the cliff under the egg and finally the interaction came up. Note: I'm glad I brought TWO grappling hooks and rope otherwise I think the egg would have broken.
