  1. I've only played as a LS male so far, so I don't know much about Disciple or Hanharr. My favorite party member is probably Visas, even though I wish she had been developed even more. I'm not sure why I love her so much, but I've really liked her from even before I played the game. As soon as I read her bio on the website, I thought to myself "She sounds really cool. She's probably a DS only character. Maybe I could be evil at first, have her join my party, then turn good and see if I can redeem her." So when I found out that Visas wasn't a DS only character and that I could redeem her, I was very happy.
  2. Some members of these forums are in the category "Developers+". These people do not show up in the member list, even if I choose the "All members" category. Some examples are Akari and Feargus Urquhart. I was wondering if there was a reason for this, or is it a bug?
  3. His death. It seems as if Bao-Dur was originally going to die, possibly in the crash. Not totally sure, but there's a voice file of him saying something like "make my sacrifice matter".
  4. Who needs two hands when you can just levitate three lightsabers at once with the force?
  5. I think this is what they were planning on doing from some of the stuff I've read. Just include most of the cut content in a possible K3. But in terms of K2, you never say never but I honestly don't see any of this happening. For the record, an expansion pack would be the most feasible route (ala Morrowind), as it would be accessible to both PC users and Xbox users. But I don't think it's going to happen. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But I'm not really sure some of the stuff we want would work very well in KotOR 3. Unless they started the game off at Malachar 5, and basically had you replay the ending of KotOR II, with the additional content. That would end up very weird for those who never played KotOR II, though.
  6. True, it's hard to tell for sure from what we've found. But there was that one line of Kriea's that went something like: "He will have a choice. One path will let him save his companions, but he will be weaker for it. The other path will take him here directly and make him stronger, but he will have to sacrifice his companions." It was something like that.
  7. That may very well have been the original plan. A lot of people are judging the cut endings based on a few scenes we have discovered, and are assuming that those scenes are how the game would have ended, period, no variation. This is despite the fact that many of those scenes are mutually exclusive. In one scene Atton dies, in another he turns evil, in another he confronts Kriea/Atris with your other companians and is wounded/killled, in another he is perhaps alive at the end of the game. It seems to me that there was going to be a lot of variation in these ending scenes, a lot more than we can tell from the little pieces found so far. So I think it is a bit silly for someone to say that the cut endings are lame or horrible, when all we have is a few pieces of them.
  8. I actually liked Visas quite a bit, but I was disappointed that you could exhaust all her conversation options so quickly. So I think she also had some wasted potential, but I still liked her a lot.
  9. Not if it's the PC version and he has the same bug my brother and I had: when fighting all 5 at once, as soon as you defeat one of them, all you stims, force powers, shields, etc, instantly disappear, no matter how much time they were supposed to have left. It made the fight againgt all 5 nearly impossible. I had to use some very cheap and weird tactics to win.
  10. A few characters dieing in some endings wouldn't be a bad thing. From what I understand, it's not as if every character would be dieing in every ending. Remember when Kriea says something about you having a choice. Searching through some of the unused dialogue reveals that this choice she was talking about was apparently a choice of paths: one path would let you save at least some of your companians, but weaken you; the other would make you stronger, but would sacrifice some of your companians. So it seems Obsidian was going to let you save some of your companians in at least some situations. The way I look at it, having most of your friends die your first time through the game would just be an incentive to play through the game again, hoping you could find ways to save some of them.
  11. I suppose my dream would actually be an expansion pack, one that adds a ton of stuff. Not just things like the filled out endings and the HK-Factory quest, but also the Droid Planet, being chased by the Genohadrin(sp?), swoop bike upgrades, etc, as well as tons of new content as well. For a content patch, I'd be happy if they just fillled out the endings some. Though the HK-Factory quest would be nice as well, and it seems like a lot of that is already done, so it wouldn't be a huge thing to add. I would obviously love any other content as well, but expecting things like the Droid Planet being added back in is probably a bit unrealistic to expect in a free content patch. Though I would pledge my firstborn to Obsidian if they did manage all that stuff in a content patch, as well as offer Lucasarts my eternal thanks for authorizing/funding that.
  12. Ok, I'm sure most people here are at least somewhat familar with the fact that a lot of content was cut from KotOR II, especially around the infamous ending. Many people have discussed this many times in various threads over in the spoilers board. There also has been tons of talk about ways some of this content might be restored. I know a ton of people, myself included, would love to see some of the cut content added. Many of us would even be willing to pay something for it, depending on how much content was being added and how much it would cost. In addition, there has been much talk about modders possibly using some of the recorded dialogue, design files, and other stuff that has been discovered, to add some of the cut content themselves. While a mod that restored some of the cut content would be nice, an official solution would be much nicer, in my opinion. There are some very skilled and cool modders out there, but Obsidian obviously has a much better grasp on what the ending and other cut content was going to be like, as well as access to all the work that had already been done, a good knowledge of the engine, etc, etc. The purpose of this thread here is to outline and discuss various ways Obsidian could restore the cut content. While my hopes of this happening are very slim, I'm not giving up yet. My purpose here is only to provide CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions and comments on how this content could be added, not to complain about it being missing. So let's keep this thread civil, please. And now, on to the ideas. Content Patch: Obsidian releases a patch for the game that does more than just fix bugs, it also adds content. In particular, this would probably expand the ending and add the HK-Factory quest. Some additional content might be added as well, who knows. That would be nice. I'd be first in line to say thank you, and offer Obsidian my firstborn as a reward if this occured. I've even heard somewhere that Obsidian asked Lucasarts if they could do a content patch, so there might be some hope for this. But unfortunately, there are some pretty big issues that make this seem unlikely, in my mind. One issue that would occur with adding any new content is that it is going to cost both money and time. And a free content patch would provide little tangible reward to Obsidian and Lucasarts. I know there are probably some people that, having heard about the cut content and the ending, have decided not to buy KotOR II, at least not yet. A content patch would probably get these people to buy the game. But how large a number are those people? There's no way to know, and therefore no way to really have an idea how much a content patch would effect sales. The other reward a content patch would provide is some goodwill from fans. But that is something very hard to measure, and let's face it, Lucasarts is a business. How would they put a value on the goodwill that might be generated if they authorized and funded a content patch? And how much of that goodwill would even be directed towards Lucasarts? How many people would just say "I knew Obsidian had it in them, Lucasarts was just holding them back. Thank you, Obsidian. Lucasarts, I still hate you!"? Another big issue with a content patch is the Xbox. There's no way Lucasarts and Obsidian are going to want to restore some of the cut content to PC users but leave Xbox users in the dark. So how would this content be added to the Xbox? Xbox Live? I'm not an expert on the technical issues, but I'm not sure if it's even possible for KotOR II to have stuff added via Xbox Live. In addition, while almost everyone with a PC has internet access, a lot of people don't have Xbox Live. So how would this restored content be gotten to Xbox users? Is it possible for perhaps some special bonus disk to be released in order add the content? And of course, there is the issue of save game compatibility. Adding any extensive new content could cause issues here. I know I myself wouldn't care too much if I had to restart the game to see the new content, (I plan to replay it several times anyways) but I can just see posts on various forums saying things like "HEY WHAT THE HECK?! I was halfway through the game when I heard about some big patch, so I downloaded it, and now my savegames don't work!" Special Edition of KotOR II? Obsidian and Lucasarts release a special edition of KotOR II that has the cut content restored, and perhaps some brand new content as well. This has some obvious advantages and disadvantages to it. Comparing it to a content patch, for example, it doesn't have a problem with getting the new content to both PC and Xbox users. This would be the ideal solution for those who have not yet purchased KotOR II, as both PC and Xbox users would be able to buy the SE and have access to the cut content right out of the box, with no need to download anything. But for those who already have payed $50 for the regular edition of the game, this could be very annoying, depending on how much cut/extra content was in this version. Some people might buy the SE, but others might refuse to buy it, simply because they would object based on principle. But if this SE was done right, I think it might get a bunch of sales among those who already have KotOR II, even among those who would complain about it a lot at first. The key would be for this special edition to have quite a bit of extra content. Perhaps in edtion to the ending and HK-Factory quest, Obsidian could add the Droid Planet back. Though I heard that some of the content originally intended for this planet was included in other places, so it wouldn't be a simple matter for Obsidian to include it. Still, if they did, and added perhaps some brand new content as well, then there would be a lot of people who would be willing to get the game. By getting people who have already bought KotOR II to also buy the SE, this method of restoring content could provide a lot more of a tangible reward than a content patch. But in order to ensure people buy this, it would also require a lot more effort and funds than a smaller content patch. And there is the issue that a lot of the KotOR II team has moved on to other projects. If they were to spend a bunch of time making the SE, than those other projects could suffer, and perhaps even face delays. Would Obsidian consider it worth potentially delaying NWN2 in order to make a SE of KotOR II? And what about NWN2's publisher Atari? Expansion Pack? Obsidian and Lucasarts release an expansion pack that adds a lot of the cut content, and perhaps some brand new content. This would face a lot of the same issues as a Special Edition. It would provide perhaps the most obvious tangible reward. (A lot of people who might not like spending another $50 on a Special Edition wouldn't mind spending $30 on an expansion pack as much.) But it also suffers from the issue that a lot of the KotOR II team has already moved on to new things. Supported mod? Obsidian provides some tools/assistance to modders and helps them restore some of the cut content. This method seems a bit unlikely. While it would cost Obsidian and Lucasarts the least time and money, it would pretty much ensure that Xbox users were left in the dark, as the Xbox doesn't support user created mods. And I'm not sure either Lucasarts or Obsidian wants to lend any official support to a solution that deson't affect both the PC and Xbox. Still, there is a slight chance this could happen. So, of all these methods, what do people like the best? Would you be willing to pay $50 for a special edition, or $30 for an expansion pack, if it added things like the Droid planet and some brand new content? Are there any other ways Obsidian could restore the content that I'm missing? Any ideas on how they could overcome some of the difficulties I listed for some of the examples?
  13. I know there has been a lot of talk about modders adding in some of the cut content (Including the HK-factory), but I'm not sure how much has been actually planned yet. I think a lot of the potential modders are still searching KotOR II's files and trying to collect and organize all the various recorded dialogue, design files, and other stuff. Also, I think there is still a slight sliver of hope among some people that Obsidian will be able to restore some of the cut content themselves via a content patch or some other method.
  14. It seems to just be an amusing little thing. If you talk to HK-47, you can install the module in him, which causes him to lose all desire to kill or cause any harm. You're forced to quickly remove the module, HK-47 scolds you for installing something without examining it closer, and you gain some experience from the incident, while HK-47 gains a boost to a few stats.
  15. Yah, that's what I thought. The indication I got from the recorded dialogue I listened to implied that there was at one time going to be many variations of that scene. There was even one line of dialogue where the Handmaiden was apparently talking to the PC, and she said something like "You have killed my sisters, now I will destroy you in Atris's name". Though perhaps that scene does happen, if you never train Handmaiden, and do a bunch of actions to get her to hate you. Maybe on one of my future DS playthroughs I'll see what happens if I get zero influence with the Handmaiden by the end of the game.
  16. Dark Force Witch Ah, you seem to know the truth of the Force as being a kind of magic. Well, my pupil, you will learn that the dark side is the most powerful magic of all. With it, you can carve an empire of pain and fear on nearly any world you choose. Seek out those places where weaklings still cower from the darkness. There you may rule unchallenged, as a dark Force witch. Hmm... though I'm a guy... so "witch" doesn't seem to fit very well.
  17. I'd like to add something about the HK-47/Remote/GO-TO scene that is puzzling me. It involves a few of lines of dialogue from that scene that seems a bit weird. GO-TO: Stop him. HK-50/51?: Unexpected Correction: We cannot harm that unit. It is a violation of our self-preservation programming. GO-TO: Stop him. HK-50/51?: Unexpected Correction: We are not here to aid you. We are here because our predecessor unit summoned. Those just don't seem to flow together right. It seems to me that perhaps those lines weren't all meant to be part of the same scene, but instead were meant to be two varations of what could occur depending on whether or not you had done the HK-factory quest. My theory is this: If you hadn't completed the factory quest, the other HK's still can't harm HK-47, because they suffer from a quirk in their self-preservation programming that makes them view HK-47 as themselves. In this case, only the the top two lines would play. If you had completed the factory quest, then the other HK's come, but they are summoned by HK-47, not GO-TO. In this case, only the bottom two lines I listed would play. What makes no sense, though, is that this would have allowed them to include that scene, even with the HK-factory being cut out. They could just use the self-preservation conflict scenario. So why wasn't that scene included?
  18. Interesting. I just discovered some audio files which involve the fight between the Handmaiden and her sisters, whihc imply that she has a choice about killing them. Yet when I just recently completed the game, at the time when the Handmaiden confrotned her sisters, she just killed them automatically. Weird. Maybe this is cut content, or maybe it just has to do with my choices earlier in the game.
  19. I didn't buy KotOR I untill after a couple of patches were already out, so I downloaded the patches for it before I ever played it. Still, I encountered quite a few bugs. KotOR II definitely has been buggy. I'm not very far into the game, and already I've had as many problems as I did with KotOR. But it's unfair for me to compare the unpatched KotOR II with the patched KotOR I.
  20. Just so people are clear, Greg Kasavan's post here didn't have anything to do with graphics; rather, it had to do with the amnesia part of the review. Also, to be fair, only one paragraph in GS's 3 page review focused on the graphics, with a couple of other mentions throughout the review. And though a 6 may seem low, the original only got a 7 in graphics at GS, so it's not really that surprising.
  21. After KotOR II is finished for the PC, will the team working on it all transfer over to Neverwinter Nights 2, or will they start on a new project?
  22. I'm pretty sure that magazine is incorrect, as it has been stated many times that other characters aside from T3 will come back in some way. Heck, in one interview, Chris Parker said this: "There will be other returning characters playing various sized roles. Some are coming back in cameo-type appearances while others will be able to join your party again, just like T3" I somehow doubt force ghosts are going to be joining are party. http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/529/529200p1.html
  23. Please make certain to forward my condolences to Chris, for having to withstand such a horror, even for the sake of the what should be an incredible storyline :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That reminds me, I've been wondering what exactly the "Star Wars Christmas Special" is. I don't think I've heard of it before.
  24. Found it. Zero Wing, for the Genesis. It's also the source of "Somebody set up us the bomb." Zero Wing Here's the article I read a while back that mentioned it.
  25. It all comes from an old console game, I think for a Sega system of some sort, that was VERY badly translated. That was actually a line from it. Let me see if I can find out where I read about it.
