  1. I did and it really was well done. I'm just a traditional hero kind of guy. The goblin content really was well done and I should concentrate on finishing that now. I have a 6 party traditional hero that was started and played entirely on legendary I need to finish at the rune-well and then the rest of the goblin party that I've done through the... first? Second scenario? I think there were several scenarios at least. It's been a few months or so.
  2. Nice to get away from the disgruntled customer threads into something that much more keenly interests me. I'm hoping for a new campaign, but I guess I should take a look to see if they've added new content since the goblins xpac. I'm not all that keen on playing the goblins, but I would be interested in new adventure decks with the core characters. I didn't hear about anything new with Valeros. Guess I better check into it.
  3. Finished Dishonored. The end scene seemed to indicate that I'd managed to get a good guy ending in much the same way as Bioshock. Not quite as long a cutscene, but enough for me to see that I ended up helping Emily who loved me as a father and planted me with her mother when I tossed off my mortal coil. More importantly, there was much beer, brandy, and bountiful booze swilling at the end. The game I bought came with four or five DLC, so I might take a look, but I might just go through the whole game again with ghost victories in every mission. I never did figure out who this Outsider chump was, though. ...And I did the first challenge and on my... fourth try? Anyhow, very early I ended up getting made by one of the guest and reflexively throat stabbed her immediately and she ended up being my target. Now, previously, I'd found up to three clues before being made. Silly but funny.
  4. Plot can't be much worse than Fallout 3, I would think. I didn't realize Fallout 4 allowed for building. Sounds like it gets away from the RPG aspect and gets more into resource management. I'm certain I'm almost done with Dishonored at this point. Been playing it as much as I get the chance. If I do finish soon, it wouldn't be a super long game. There's good replay value, though. Just like Blood Money, it's all about getting the ghost win on each level. That skulk and choke thing is ridiculously overpowered, but I can't complain. I abuse the hell out of it.
  5. My experience is that people who feel wronged will complain and probably longer the more people argue with them. However, ideally, Obsidian could find some way to accommodate the aggrieved (or self-perceived aggrieved) parties while still being responsible with their backers' financing and keeping talent on board and well compensated. Yeah, I know, Polyanna. Since that's impossible, they can only juggle the three. If the devs can find a way to provide what you're suggesting while still making enough money to give us the next campaign, I'd be ecstatic, Ethics Gradient. I don't have a ton of faith that we'll see it, but I'm ever hopeful.
  6. The analogy is flawed. I think there is still value in what the gold will get and, if I remember it right, they said from day one that they'd tinker with the pricing and what would be offered both for free to play or paid gold. Caueat emptor. I don't think I can convince you, but I do appreciate you genuinely feel aggrieved. I'd say keep complaining. After all, while I disagree about the gold, I understand that bitching about what you perceive as a wrong can something be therapeutic.
  7. I've thought about getting Fallout 4, but I just wasn't feeling it. I did enjoy Fallout 3 and I loved Fallout New Vegas, but I didn't have time to play when Fallout 4 came out and now it's like... meh. Kind of like when you think there's a tasty slice of cake in the kitchen, but it just ain't worth getting up to get it. I'm tasked with what my fellow conspirators tell me is the final assassination in Dishonored. Of course, I don't trust any of them. Even if I take the heart as honest, there are still a few people in my own camp who are less than wholesome. I do appreciate that I've managed to finish at least three quests without killing the main target, but I haven't managed to finish any without killing at least a couple of people. I know it's possible to get through each without killing and, in fact, being seen because the mission debriefing has achievements showing for these. I've managed to get almost all the runes and find all the shrines. I probably trust the outsider guy about as much as anyone but that's owing to the fact that I don't trust anyone at all. Maybe the guy who steers the boat and the kid Emily. ...And
  8. I've been away for a while, but can't you still buy treasure chests? That's a serious question because, while I won't think it's worth the nerd rage entirely, I will concede that you have a point if you simply can't use gold at all. If you can use that gold for anything, then your accusation is unfounded. Moreover, if you spent more on gold than you would have spent on the base game, then I'll simply think you made a bad decision, although Obsidian's idiotic plan on how to sell the game was a painful learning experience. I want to be up front in that I do sympathize with you. Probably not nearly as much as you think you deserve and the sympathy of some random internet guy doesn't help you, but there it is. So, I'm assuming that you bought less than the base game worth of gold and that you can only use that gold for treasure chests. If that's not true, let me know. In all sincerity, I'd rather not make baseless assumptions. If you can't buy anything, then I suppose you have some right of complaint. If, however, you can still buy chests, you spent money that is still to your benefit, simply not the benefit you'd most like.
  9. I disagree that they ripped off mobile purchasers. I refuse to call foul because they provided a way for people who didn't shell out the cash for the game to get so much content. Yeah, I can see people being angry that they purchased a product in good will that so many managed to mooch for free. That's the way of the world. They had a bad model for selling the game and subsequently came to their senses. So, while some people might have a legitimate beef, I still think people like me, who bought the game the first day and then paid for the upgrade, should not be angry that others managed to work the system to get much of the same thing. They could work the system and they did. Good for them. A lot of people do. The idea that people who were gaming the system should be angry that Obsidian wisely changed their model is just silly. I don't take for granted that you're a troll, Rubarack. The early days of Fallout have convinced me that people can be unreasonably and unfairly enraged out of a sense of entitlement. These people aren't bad. They're merely misguided. I went away from the keyboard to do other stuff and now I figure I might lose this erudite post because the thread was rightfully locked while I was gone. If that happens, I won't have grounds for complaint.
  10. I thought about getting The New Colossus, but I opted for Dishonored. I've kind of lurked around here for a while and I saw that some people liked Dishonored and now that I've I can safely say that the game is addicting and absolutely brilliant. I was careful to avoid story spoilers about the games, but the single cutscene I saw of Dishonored 2 was enough that I'm certain who the other main character is in that game. Definitely a wise choice. I was afraid that Dishonored would look dated, but I've got all the video settings maxed and it's impressive. Still, the typical apocalyptic dinginess, drabiness, and dreariness. Nevertheless, there are some beautiful visuals in there. It's easy enough that on the hard setting I still get through quickly. I used to do all these games on hardest, but I have neither the time nor inclination to waste on vanity settings. However, I will play this game again on either normal or hard and do a complete stealth run. In that regard, it reminds me of getting Silent Assassin in Hitman. I figured it was a mistake, but I took double dark, double... shift or whatever the first power is, a sprint, a time, and a health so far. I was sorely tempted by the rat one, which for a guy who drops bodies from time to time, that rat thing might come in handy to dispose of the evidence. A lot of freedom in choosing how to approach problems in this game, which is entirely like the Hitman series. In fact, I think it might be more like Blood Money than any other game I've played so far.
  11. this made me laugh. Plus, it's a good point. I always wonder at folks who complain about pricing. No one is forcing anyone to buy anything. You're a consumer. At some point, you have to be responsible for your own purchases. Moreover, no one owes you anything for which you haven't paid. Even if you have paid a trivial price, you should expect a trivial product or limited use of a better product. I agree with the original poster. These Obsidian people should have delivered a product with less bugs, that's true, but the game is still tons of fun and I want to see others in the same line which simply won't happen if they can't make a profit. So, complain about the bugs if you want, but don't complain about paying for the product. There are plenty of crappy free to play games on a variety of platforms. Try Farmville if you don't want to pay for a decent product.
  12. Premadeath is a bit over-rated in that you can simply bring the same character along again from deck to deck until he or she is ready to join the party again. I haven't played the game for probably three or four months, but whereas legendary difficulty actually makes the game more difficult, permadeath simply serves to force the players to take more time if he wants to keep his core party. Moreover, if I recall it right, permadeath could really make the game easier simply because it cuts down on the characters. I have done hardly anything with permadeath, but I guess it would make the game a lot harder if the design team made it so that permadeath removed the character from the party, the player could only choose first level characters from those remaining to replace the lost character, and the size of the party remained the same for the purposed of including locations even if there are fewer characters in the party due to death. Not my cuppa, but some people would certainly love coming the forums to talk about their great personal prowess.
  13. I've had a chance to get into Dishonored more and now I've had a chance to take a short nap. I chose to take dark vision over health. I was hopeful about the game, but cautious since I don't have a lot of time and I've been burned in the past. I'm increasingly impressed becoming downright optimistic. Even the long wall of text sections are worth reading and help put you into the story. I'm not keen on fps melee fighting games, especially ones that require a more or less 'parry' move, but I can get used to it. I sometime miss the old school run and gun games like Doom, but this one appears more along the lines of Bioshock.
  14. I bought Dishonored with five dlc off of steam. It's pretty good so far. I just got out of the sewer. I can't yield and intelligent analysis of the game yet, but I have had fun playing it. Most recently, I've played some of a team based tactical game and a classical strategy game along with Wii resort golf and bowling (with family). I have until January 8 to finish Dishonored and if I get done in time, I plan on playing Dishonored 2.
  15. I have just a little over to get into a game and finish it. I was wondering, how important is it to play the first Dishonored before the second one? I was hoping to buy a steam or gog game this weekend and sink my teeth into it while I have the chance.
  16. God rest your soul, Higgins. http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2017/11/09/magnum-p-higgins-actor-john-hillerman-dies-at-84.html
  17. If it were an actual expansion pack or (drools) a stand alone game developed by Obsidian, I would consider buying Fallout 4. I'm not going to take a chance on the game for a mod. Too many games out there already I haven't had the chance to play to drop the coin on the prospect of a game based on a mod.
  18. I always want the American League to win, and so I'm stoked. I was ambivalent about the Astros vs. Dodgers, but I'm still glad the American League won. Granted, the league has gone home winners over half the time, but almost half of that is the Yankees. If there's one American League team I might like to see take a beating, it's the Yankees. Not for personal reasons, but because they've got more World Series wins than the next two runners up combined. rat bastards.
