I am level 2, and the Xaurips are level 1 from Valewood. I am thinking my Perception is way too low. It's 12, and I was trying to dual wield two battle axes. Edit: Well, I should get Zealous Focus the next level, and I may have to use rapier or something. I am going to try "courier" type of quests as much as possible until I gear and level up, it looks like!

You are a brave man. I hate wasting time and having to re-start middle of the run, because I didn't build right. So I tend to do a lot of research before I dive into games like this. Some of my friends think I am insane, but I think doing 25 hours of research is frankly better than re-starting after 50 hours of playing. I am also optimization, min-maxing nut - both in games and in real-life - so I just have to have all the answers before I do anything!

Thanks! Looks like my guy will be a combination of the Bleak Walker build and this one (perhaps trying to do too much with 1 character?) so I can do both damage and accuracy buffing. Would FoD damage be okay even if I dual wielding swords (1 of the swords will, of course, be Shame or Glory)? I am considering whether giving Marking weapons to both my Paladin and Chanter tank - or only the Chanter tank (in which case the Paladin will go Bittercut and another saber).

But you have a Ph.D in the game, and this is my first PotD run though! I am inclining toward switching the Paladin from a dual Saber to a dual Sword build and use Shame or Glory. Actually, no, perhaps give Shame and Glory to the Chanter tank instead? He probably doesn't need the extra engagement from the Sheathed in Autumn I was planning on giving him; and I have 4 melees to keep folks occupied anyways. I may also give CladhalĂath to the Chanter - though I have no idea how to even acquire that one.

Yeah, I am getting worried about Accuracy in my PotD run, after seeing that my Perception 12 Paladin main was only at 31 percent to hit against level 2 spiders (!). I started a separate thread on this, but do I need more than just Zealous Focus/Coordinated Attacks on Paladin and Inspiring Radiance on Priest I am planning? As in, do I need Marking and Coordinating weapons as well? And what else?

Reading the two Forward Observer Paladin builds now make me wonder if I need Marking & Coordinating weapons to hit consistently in PotD as well. I am planning on taking both Zealous Focus and Coordinated Attacks on the Paladin, and Inspiring Radiance on the Priest, and I thought this was enough. But my terrible hit percentage in the first ruin makes me wonder now (31 percent against level 2 spider, LOL?). And what about Perception? I was only going to take Perception to around 12 on my front-line DPS (dual wield Fighter and Paladin, and Tall Grass Barbarian), but perhaps that needs to be bumped up? I know I am over-obsessing about builds, but I am by nature someone who likes to over-theorize and over-prepare and not get caught with unexpected stuff - because I do not handle the unexpected well.

I am finally out of the opening ruins and the first town. I have 1100 gold after selling everything. So I need to come up with another 140 gold running around and picking up flowers to be able to recruit 5 custom companions in one go... Edit: Never mind. I can sell Gaun's Pledge; I don't need more heals as a Paladin with Lay on Hands and Strange Mercy anyways. Now I am really off to the unknown, playing 2 classes I am not too familiar with (Fighter and Barbarian). Autopsy reports soon?

On a Paladin with multiple roles, I have decided that getting two Weapon Focus talents may be too much. Besides, the daggers and rapiers Boerer pointed out all have +5 Accuracy enchants anyways, so I am only losing -1 Accuracy by not taking a Weapon Focus, if I choose those weapons. On a Fighter, I might still do this - though I am not sure how many spare talent points I will have, given that I've never played a Fighter. Edit: Hmmm, I forgot that DPS Fighters will likely get Weapon Specialization, too. So that's really 2 talent points I need. Probably not worth it here either

Lol its not that! The use has just been foggy to me. Do you cast it before or after the damage spell. As you said after works. PS off topic. Fought the Kraken last night. That poor bastard I destroy him with no mercy every time he's not tough lol. Easiest boss by far far far compared to dragons. Sworn Enemy+ Arbalest shot to his noggin for a 196 crit lol. He was hit simultaneously by Minoletta's Precisely piercing burst and a sunlance. Instant death. I think he was injured also from Dragon thrash and wailed plus Sacred Immolation as well. Because one thing he does have a lot of is HP. Not that it matters lol I couldn't figure out how to get to the Kraken my first run (well, technically my 2nd run). Then I lost my save. But how much of the content is left after you are done with him though? I am not sure whether rushing him to grab Legendary weapon enchants is worth it. Anyways, thanks for starting this topic. Very useful, and I did not understand the brouhaha over Combusting Wounds myself!
