  1. Think it took me about 6 hours on hard, give or take an hour. It's a fun playthrough, but it's basically a blockbuster action film, so don't look too closely at the plot, it's mostly about explosions. I love explosions! Thanks for the feedback.
  2. It's too bad The Expendables game was a flimsy cash-in because even though Rambo is very iconic, The Expendables IP would have given a development team a lot more to work with.
  3. How is Battlefield 4's campaign and how long does it last roughly?
  4. Well so far anyway. I've only just made it to Neverwinter. My rig isn't anything special, it's a Phenom II, 3.0 quad core, 8 GB of RAM and my card is an Nvidia GTS 450. That said the game is like 10 years old now so it's hardly a miracle.
  5. I've started replaying Neverwinter Nights 2 with 3d glasses. It works surprisingly well actually, I've found most isometric games do not translate well to 3d because the camera angles hide the effect of things coming out of the screen or the sensation that's you're looking through a window. In NWN2 you very much get the 3d effect. That combined with the fact that I can finally play the game with all the graphics turned up and not suffer any lag makes the game feel new again. Score .
  6. The trees were a complete pain but I do think for the most part that they did a good job with the wilderness and hiding/navigating. Made a change at least and it was pretty to look at.
  7. The Pitt was very decent (and I loved the DLC taking place in the swamp lands, I just can't remember it's name) If somebody could patch out Little Lamplight and more importantly, the need for GFWL (or whatever that thing is called), I might have reinstalled Fallout 3 and given it a second go. Never did complete it. I thought GFWL was dead and thus all games ran in offline mode now? As for Little Lamplight, this thread links to a mod that skips it but you need to create a Nexus Mods account.
  8. So despite years of fighting it Ender's Game did turn out to be the movie Orson Scott Card didn't want them to make? That's a shame. The Shadow series if they decide to make sequels will probably translate a lot more easily though.
  9. You should see the Infernal Affairs trilogy that The Departed was based on. Departed was a good film but it was a hatchet job compared the source material which were so well made and are some of the best movies I have ever seen. Part 1 will be basically the same, still worth watching for context but parts 2 and 3 were more or less untouched and part 2 especially is my favourite film of all time.
  10. I'm not highlighting journos for argument's sake, it's just I've never played one second of an Assassin's Creed game, but I want a fun day one title on PS4. Rumor is Target is having a Buy Two, Get One Free deal on next-gen games during launch week ... if so, Lego Marvel Superheroes, Killzone Shadowfall, and perhaps Black Flag. Ars made it sound like, if you've played AC games before, Black Flag is kinda bland and samey, with terrible AI. IGN made it sound like a big-ass oceanic sandbox game, that improved a lot over previous editions. The big critique of the AC series is that every single episode plays just like the last one but with nicer graphics and a few more game mechanics. In Brotherhood for example they introduced a guild system and made a big deal about it in the promotional stuff, you could hire up to 8 (I think) assassin recruits and name them, colour their outfits, level them and send them on assassination missions through a system a bit like follower missions in TOR and FF: Tactics for XP and money. They had different weapons, could level up, be given better equipment ect. The system was big enough that you could spend weeks doing that, the thing is it's entirely optional and doesn't have any impact on the main story or side quests whatsoever, and the only way to use the recruits in the game proper were as limited call-in reinforcements. Perhaps that's what Ars meant about Black Flag and it's naval stuff? If you've not played any AC games before then you'll probably get your money's worth. Most people really enjoy AC's gameplay the first time around.
  11. South Park delayed again. Now coming 2014. Hopefully. Looks like it's going to be a lot of fun though, I like what they showed of the combat system.
  12. I think if you're getting fed up with the original you may want to pass on DS2 as DS2 will feel like the second half of the game you're already playing, It hits the ground running, you basically get Isaac back to the level he was when the original ended very quickly and then they keep adding new weapons and monsters. DS2 is very combat oriented and has much better level design. The scary moments were all but abandoned but it does have some really, really great interactive cut-scenes, it's one of the better games at making you feel like you're in an action movie. Isaac has a voice now and both he and the supporting cast are entertaining to listen to as the game progresses. If you ever get the chance though, Dead Space 3 is definitely worth picking up some time. It is even more combat oriented, uses a better engine, has a very popular crafting system and is a co-op game akin to Resident Evil 5.
  13. All I take away from that picture is that the second choice will have consequences, the first option will probably be okay.
  14. Hydrophobia? Yep, it's fun, has an interesting hook which they make the most of but it's super shoot. The whole thing took me 3 hours so I definitely wouldn't suggest anyone buy it. I don't think any other game (maybe battlefield 4 now) has done such a good job with water. It's physics based in this game not just a box that you can navigate 360 degrees. The waves roll, corridors and rooms really flood with water pouring in and moving the player and loose objects like crates, putting out fire ect, ect. Paired with the lighting it all looks spectacular in motion and the level design focuses very tightly on the flooding interiors concept which makes the experience a little different to other 3rd person adventure/shooters. It's also worth noting that the main character is Welsh, which was a nice surprise and she has a lovely accent. I hope she finds more work in videogames.
  15. I'm guessing the first episode isn't actually out tomorrow?
  16. How is kinnect for actual games by the way? Endwar always sounded pretty interesting.
  17. I suspect it's because fewer people pre-ordered than they were hoping for. I've heard loads of people say they've been given a voucher but nobody saying that they've bought it yet.
  18. Pre-ordered. Graphics aren't usually a selling point for me but this looks so good.
  19. Storm of Zehir already did this. Those moments were fun but probably not worth the time that went into them.
