  1. I think this is a great idea. Vsiceris was, as have been said, never really malicious. Stubborn to a fault and very set in his ways, yes, but never as annoying as some of the other regulars here can be that share similar traits. He certainly made the forums livelier. I think, and hope, the obsidian people can combine the pledges of the people their support of the idea in this thread into one number and if it goes past $1000 go with it (or just go with it regardless). (not saying people should start posting their pledge amounts, but I'm sure they'll have a decent idea anyway, especially when forum badges get assigned)
  2. No need to apologize, Cant. Us liking different planets is a good thing, means they're distinguished enough to feel different.
  3. You mean like basically every human players does in those types of game?
  4. Oh yeah, I forgot. Cant in regards to your concerns about f2p, that's not how it'll be in the beginning anyway. They'll maintain a subscription model, which will have access to all content in the game, where the free players will have restrictions placed on non-planetary content (flashpoints, war zones, ops). There will be vanity items to buy, but subscribers will also receive cartel coins as part of their subscription so they will ba able to get those without paying extra. Bioware has also said that you won't be able to buy high end raid gear, that still comes from raids. Possibly you can buy things to make leveling easier, but I doubt they'll change the difficulty which means it won't be mandatory by any stretch of the imagination. There is still reason to be worried of course, but I choose to remain optimistic about this.
  5. Well, wait until you've done the quests in the dune sea and then tell me if you still like tattooine. The planet has a pretty sweet main questline though, I'll give it that (it's the same for both sides in the end, just different ways to get there, though I like the imperial version better). But it's one of those planets where you have to drive for miles and miles between quests, so it drags a bit. Especially in the dune sea, which is huge. The design is pretty fitting though. Now how you can call that brownish piece of land colorful, I have no idea. I guess you desertfolk have a very different perspective. To me the color palette was very samey all the time. Don't think Hutta is too bad, but it's because you're not there for very long. Alderaan has the most stunning visuals though, that planet is gorgeous. Anyway, my raid team killed Kephess hard Mode (end boss in the latest and most difficult raid) today for the first time, so I'm pretty happy
  6. Then you did it wrong somehow, because it's free to level 15 and has been a couple of months. Some more instructions here: https://account.swtor.com/trial (although if you've already got an account, I suppose you have to do somethings inside your acocunt somehow). Edit: wish I could be more helpful and give detailed instructions, but I am not eligible for the trial. But if you have an account and log in through the page I linked, it'll take you to the trial part of your account and should give you the last details on how to proceed. if you don't have an account, create one on that page and it should then be the same.
  7. Glad you got it sorted. What server and faction are you playing on Labadal?
  8. It's interesting what a difference perspective makes. For me tattooine (and hoth) are pretty much the most boring planets. It's just too much traveling around those vast areas that look exactly the same all the time. Leveling will gradually become a slower process, which is fairly common in rpgs. I found it to be a bit frustrating to be overleveled for content, but that has everything to do with crafting. Since the mats you get through your gathering skills mainly exists on planets within a certain level range, if you're not in phase it's hard to craft thing suitable to your current level (since you'll need to send crews out on missions rather than just harvest nodes). So these days when I level a new character, I try my hardest to be somewhat in phase. This means I typically skip bonus series on most planets, since doing them tends to send you out of balance real fast, especially if you also pvp and do flashpoints. And those two are a lot more fun anyway. And yes, speeder at level 10 is amazing. As is sprint at level 1 (when the game went live you didn't get that until level 14). And for those of us with a bit more cash, the rocket boots are also fantastic.
  9. Just prebought it from GMG, it's a fair bit cheaper than on steam (especially since the have a 25% off voucher listed on the game page).
  10. I have read that 32-bit operative systems can have problems with anything over 2.2 TB. But I found this thread with people having the exact same problem, and they managed to solve it. http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/269483-14-seagate-barracuda For most people it appears to have been an issue with nForce SATA drivers, so if you have a nvidia motehrboard, updating those is probably a good place to start. The last 5-10 posts were the most informative I think. (it's about a seage disk, but I'd guess manufacturer doesn't matter in this case)
  11. What windows version do you have?
  12. The black hole ones aren't so bad. As an imperial, it's only one quest that gets annoying, the rest are done in 10 minutes (apart from the heroic). The annoying one is when you have to find a bunch of crates and destroy them, while competing with every other player in the zone for them. When there's 30 or so people in the zone, it can take a long time. Time just spent driving around on your speeder even. But if you're there when it's not overcrowded (I'd stay away on tuesdays after reset if possible), it can be done in about 20 mins. The heroic 4 takes a bit longer, but can be done in less than 15 minutes with a decent team. It also isn't really a heroic 4, it can be done with two players even if they aren't heavily geared, as long as both use their long term cc to the max. One trick you can do is to do all the daily quests in off hours (like tuesdays before reset if you're not at work, or at night), but not turn them in. Then after reset you just pick up the weekly quest (that awards BH coms), then turn in all the ones you completed previously. Just makre sure to pick up the weekly before turning anything in (I've done that mistake myself) Republic side is similar, but has more quests where players are competing for the same objects (three I think), and the final boss of the heroic is tougher.
  13. yep. there's evena setting that alloows you to see without hovering I think
  14. minor spoiler ahead Or even worse, in the flashpoint kaon under siege, you get the choice to kill an infected soldier or let him succumb to the rakghoul virus. As an imperial, you get DS points if you let the virus take him, but LS if you kill him. As a republic players however, it's the other way around.
  15. Yeah, corellia is kinda dull. Especially the battle of axial park, I hate that mission (on both sides).
  16. Good tip, I'll have to try that. But on our server there is a mile of difference between republic and imperial teams. They are much more coordinated as a rule. There is very little coordination and no one types anything in chat most of the time. I wish I could do that myself, but I myself really don't know how to coordinate a team, so I'll just have to follow my best instinct on where I need to be. But yeah, not all republic teams are well coordinated, and it's fairly easy to say when they are. Basically if I live for more than 30 seconds at a time, their coordination isn't all that (healer in recruit gear = major bullseye). But I'd from my experience the repluc players are more coordinated at least twice as often as the imperials. My win ratio is about 1/5 or so, and while it's certainly a possibility I am dragging my team down, we're frequently outclassed in a way that can not be caused by a single player.
  17. Yeah, hutball is a lot easier for marauders, powertechs and juggernauts. I on the other hand play as an operative healer and as an imperial (which means less teamwork) and it's typically very frustrating. I can't use stealth to any real advantage because I'm too slow when stealthed and healing is a pain due to LoS being blocked all the time. And I have none of the abilities that are good in hutball (pulls, jumps, knockbacks, speed increases) otehr than a melee range stun and a short range mez. I've had one hutball match where it felt like players on my team knew what they were doing, and it was tight and exciting. We managed an equalizer score with 24 seconds left on the clock, although still ended up as the losing team due to tiebreakers. That game was actually fun, but other than that hutball's mostly been miserable for me. (disclaimer, I am most likely one of those people who have no idea what they're doing, since I've only started pvping this week)
  18. Can't go wrong with operative if you want to heal. Best storyline and very efficient healer (although all healing classes are more or less on par). I'm a bit biased since its my main, but I love it to death. It is a bit underwhelming at the beginning though, doesn't really get going until lvl 30 or so, due to missing some crucial components, but after that it's pretty much awesome.
  19. I thought it looked really good from the video. Certainly has enough tactical choices to make it fun and interesting. Only watched the first mission though (and start of second), but definitely buying this day 1. I also think showing off the game in this way at this stage proves that the devs have confidence in their product.
  20. Consensus is that republic pvp:ers are stronger, because they are more concerned about objective and teamwork. Imperial pvp:ers just go in and want to kill things. I think there is some truth to that, it certainly feels like my team is running around like headless chickens a lot of the time. I'm probably not better myself, since I'm fairly new to pvp in this game (started saturday, mostly because I want a relic that is best-in-slot for pve as well), but at least I try and support the team and work the objectives. I kinda have to support the team of course, since I'm a healer. It's pretty easy to see if the other team is coordinated not though. Basically if I spend a majority of the time stunned or dead, they've got enough coordination to focus healers, and then things tend to go bad for my side (not because I think I'm important, but because the other team knows what they're doing). The matches I have won though (which are few) are the ones where I've been left pretty much unmolested, and been able to do my thing
  21. A while back (a month or so after release) they said they had some exciting plans for space, that was not just more missions. They haven't said anything more about it since though, and those plans have probably been delayed. I also don't think guild ships will be anything that gets added to the game in the forseeable future, if ever.
  22. There will be more space missions and a new planet in the fall. Probably somewhere around when the f2p starts rolling. And there will be a new op in september.
