  1. yeah hippies sure are prone to violence and firestarting, rioting and demolishing public property... Ah, you are talking about anarchists. Yeah, those folks are terrible, I don't think you will find anyone here defending them. You do seem to have a few people here defending the white supremacists. I actually like anarchists. Those which I know are very intelligent people with very idealistic views and a romantic idea of humans. It's nice to have them around. As for anarchists in the sense of smashing state property, remember that there are always people who just want to crush stuff. Seriously, police reports around here have shown that quite an impressive number of the Antifa guys also attend similar events instigated by right wingers.
  2. so... the involved KKK members and the involved alt-right members were actually Nazis? And those were actually Marxist? I really do not know why this idea is so popular that national socialism and classical socialism somehow are related. Is it because Mussolini liked Marx? Is it because they called themselves socialists? They catered to the working class. Quick reminder that communists were amongst the most persecuted. Heck, not even Soviet right winged communists, so nationalistic communists or national socialists, if you will, were anywhere near Hitler. Deficit spending doesn't make you a communists. Besides, does a society without a state sound particularly fascist to you? No? That's because it's not. Yet it is a part of the communist dream.
  3. Good luck TN. I hope it doesn't make you a hard core conservative... think of the children!
  4. Bennie is this your idea of a joke when you say " German people are afraid of Neo Nazis" ?I know German people typically don't have great sense of humours especially when it comes to joking about themselves so maybe you joking about this comment my comment is a joke, yes. I marvel at this needing explaining
  5. German people are afraid of Neo Nazis who are particularly strong in the east. There's talks of a wall between west and east Germany to protect us against radical white Christian terrorism. #buildthewall #dontseewhatcouldpossiblybewrongabouthat
  6. Communism is the love we use to crush the enemy's hammer. Or something along those lines...
  7. quick correction: the ancient one were originally an asian man in the comics, but in the movie, she were a celtic woman. is noteworthy that the change of the ancient one from asian to tilda swinton, arguably the whitest woman on the planet, resulted in significant negative backlash and widespread accusations o' whitewashing. *shrug* oh, and as an aside, the most annoying pandering to the chinese we has personal seen in a movie were the additions to the martian. the selfless and humanitarian chinese helped save the day in the movie version. such scenes were not in the book. clear were added solely to makes the movie more attractive to a chinese audience. if am recalling correct, the recent ghostbusters reboot were not shown in china for the announced reason o' the depiction o' the supernatural and ghosts. the great wall (or whatever it were called) with matt damon were a bomb. as much as hollywood attempts to replicate success by reusing same old formula, it likewise avoids failure like some kinda misbegotten leper. sure, am expecting a continuation o' the trend o' movies to throw an occasional bone to chinese audiences in the guise o' chinese actors and pro-chinese plot lines, but serious west-chinese film partnership may go into a kinda hibernation. as to the original issue, diversity, in general, sells. wonder woman did well. as bad as were lucy, it also made money. atomic blonde? dunno yet. regardless, hollywood has figured out that men like to watch hot women kicking arse. *feigned shock* the thing is, women apparently like to watch hot women kicking arse too. ubiquitous supermodels in movies were offensive to women a few years ago, but female action heroes is somehow empowering? whatever. don't ask too many questions. the point is we expect to see a whole lot more female action stars just as long as such movies make money. oh, and moviegoer demographics does not match national demographics. compared to national demographics, a few ethnic groups is disproportionate more likely to go to movies. gotta be kinda obtuse to fail to notice how successful has been the fast and furious franchise, yes? diverse casts and terrible acting is trademarks o' those films, and yet they is universal's most successful franchise to-date. personal, am not caring 'bout diversity in movies. denzel washington as don pedro in much ado about nothing? why the hell not? will give denzel washington the benefit o' the doubt 90% o' the time. bad acting. bad direction. bad production values. such stuff bothers us, but take some kinda source material and make a change to increase diversity while also acquiring good acting talent, then am not seeing a downside. where diversity forces a bad actor or director into a project, then Gromnir grumbles, but otherwise... meh. diversity is good for the bottom line, so as long as it don't impact quality, we have difficulty seeing a problem. HA! Good Fun! Additionally, I don't think the Chinese market will compensate a long time for the mediocre quality movies that are being largely produced right now. Hollywoods strategy seems to be "high production value, low risk". I don't think this'll work for any market in the long run; so hopefully they'll have to adapt and be more experimental.
  8. The true reason for Hollywoods new conformity lies somewhere else. Why would they go all politically correct if there's no money in it? They wouldn't. So where does the money come from? Look no further than the SAPPRFT, the State Administration of Press Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China. You see, China is a hugely growing market for Films. Think about it... there are potentially more than 1 billion visitors for every movie. And the growth rate of this particular market is impressive. If it continues at this rate, it will surpass the respective US film market by 2020. Of course, China, being the One Party Dictatorship that it is, won't make it that easy for Hollywood. First of all there's of course censorship. The Chinese government doesn't want to see homosexuality on the big screen, it surely doesn't want to see politics, Chinese bad guys are a no go and violence is heavily censored. This has real effects... the bad guy from Pirates of the Caribbean 3 was cut, and Logan had to remove much of its fighting scenes for example (14 minutes in total). Alien Covenant even cut the cast majority of Alien scenes, leaving only about 1 minute screen time. And because the Chinese only allow under 40 US movies into their cinemas a year in order to protect their own movie industry, there's an incredibly high competition for those movies, so producers adapt their movies to the needs of the Chinese. For example, the wise woman from Dr Strange, who comes from Tibet in the source material, ended up being Nepalese. And in Red Dawn, every single reference to China was changed to North Korea post production; which was quite costly since China was the main villain. So, if you look for the, or a big, reason why movies are the way they are; here you go
  9. http://www.tagesschau.de/ausland/kanada-fluechtlinge-101.html For the non-german ones: last month alone Canada accepted around 1150 refugees from the US, most apparently from Haiti. Montreal even opened up theory stadium to house them. I find this very amusing.
  10. you see, sharp one is so used to the idea of migrants (who are sometimes of a dark colour, though not always black) being connected to rape that he makes this connection himself automatically.
  11. Come on. A rape joke? Seriously? As a Cultural Marxist and member of the Frankfurt School I have to agree with you. This is a terrible joke because it is racist, sexist and surely somehow also transphobic. Seriously though, it might not imply rape but maybe just his wife cheating on him (?).

  13. Don't have an overly rosy view of military folk. Why is that? I'm curious. because they know that power comes out of the barrel of a gun

  15. The only "drugs" that is prescribed for transgender people are hormones, and specialized psychologists evaluate if they really are transgender or if it's something else that is going on and follows the transperson through their transition, that's it.Some people might have other problems aswell, but that's not exclusively tied to them being trans. You should read up more on that "common knowledge" mate :/ 40% suicide rate. Doesn't sound to mentally stable to me. Acting like everything is fine and dandy with transgender people is doing a disservice to them. I'm pretty certain that having people harass you, glare at you for looking 'manish' and similar things have nothing to do with it. The massive amounts of hate some of them has to take from society would affect anyone. A second ago you were adamant that they are all ok. You make yourself look untrustworthy and by that you undermine the case you are advocating for. I don't think transgenders would appreciate having you advocating for them like that. He said two different things; one of them that he identified outside(!) influence as a major problem.
  16. I find the degree of support for transgender and generally gender identity amongst large parts of the left weird. It's... very besides the point. The whole idea of gender identity preserves and even strengthens the notion that character attributes are attached to biological gender. No man can identify as a woman, they can only identify as female; and vice versa. I do think these people should be able to do whatever the he'll they want, but as a political ideology it is very counterproductive when what should be archived is the separation of biological gender and character. What I'm trying to say is that you can't try to liberate women from their submissive role in society and at the same time propagate the idea of identifying as a woman (as in, identifying with the female character including of course said submission). It's contradictory to say on the one hand "you aren't born a woman, you are made a woman" and on the other hand to say "you can be born a man but truly be a woman". So yes. Can we please shift focus back to further liberation instead of wearing down past progress?
  17. seize the means of reproduction!
  18. a true capitalist system always gives you options to rise
  19. I know that this is a known issue; but interesting nether the less. So, where do we stand on this? What is to come? The ushering in of an automated socialist utopia? A highly advanced capitalist society? An consumerist dictatorship?
  20. No, the Republican motto is "We're dumb as rocks, and we do whatever our corporate masters tell us."Wait, are you saying the democrats are different?
  21. "Democrats' motto should be "We hate America and we're doing everything we can to destroy it!"." "That's the republicans" Funny how you people genuinely say that Don't you find that a bit... bold?
  22. Don't worry; it's Berlin... if any one of these children will continue to have those views, Antifa (which in Germany, quite uniquely, is much more pro Israel) will beat them up faster than they can say "Osama did nothing wrong". On a more serious note... the breitbart article actually made one good point. "Another major revelation in the study was that children from migrant backgrounds identify less and less with their former ethnicity and more with their common religion of Islam." This is very true. And it's true across many of the Muslim countries. Pakistan is only held together by Islam, a fear of India and, mainly, the police and military. Perhaps not all too unsimilar to some of the late-stage communist countries were. And again quite similarly, many only manage through brutal tyranny. Really, the reason for all this are the terribly drawn borders... the Middle East could've been easily separated into Sunnis, Schiiten and Kurds. But no...
  23. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/93085-politics-episode-8-wwf-edition/page-15 Guard dog, how about we discuss taxes?
  24. "The fact that the lives of everyone, including the ruling class, are shaped by material conditions does not mean that the ruling class is a myth." This is what our dispute comes down to; wether the ruling class rules or reacts. You say people, I say system. I think we're just gonna go in circles, really.
  25. Guard dog, wanna talk about taxes? https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/93085-politics-episode-8-wwf-edition/page-15
