  1. Well... I ended up choosing a boar, and for now, I'm quite satisfied. It's also sturdy and stubborn...almost as a dwarf. As for the chanter... isn't it fun to get kana? I like him...
  2. I totally love my ranger. I've started again addressing all Issues I found in 1st playthrough until level 4. Hope I got some more knowledge now, and know where to allocate points for example...hehe. Just out of curiosity though... is there any other class which is so "play intensive", requires no micromgmt and is good even outside of combat? I find the ranger very satisfying but I'm just curious as it seems to me, EVERY other class I played before just requires some compromise... either range or melee... either social or combat... With the ranger I've done it all... I'm ranged but melee with the pet. I'm good in combat but also socially... And all this thanks to Boeroer who suggested the dwarven ranger to me... I thought it was boring... haha
  3. Thanks Dr.. but as of the 4th level, I've never used any scrolls, nor have I stunned anyone... I go for damage... good ol' crossbow and and a very pissed bear
  4. I was considering INT... what purpose does it serve 'cept dialogue on a ranger? I don't have spells, or abilities which last long or have AoE or the such... can any of you clarify?
  5. Now I understand my mistake: I don't have Wounding shot, I got marked prey. That's the reason I don't do Dot... then I got Swift Aim... I did wrong didn't I?
  6. I'm like you on this matter... I like to do strange combinations with classes and abilities, but I'm still too green for this on Pillars... I'll just play for a bit and see if this char does well.
  7. I thought of this DoT effect, at first it seemed not so powerful... I'm still low level, and don't have many talents or feats.. As for the talking abilities? It seems most require Res18 (i'll never reach) or Int16 or the like... What do I get to change if I respec? Main stats? Talents?
  8. Boeroer... how the hell do you come with such amazing ideas?? how many times have you played this games and most important: how many different characters have you mastered?? You're the Pillars wikipedia! hahah
  9. I've completed the place, no matter the level...maybe the bear companion really did his part of the job I'm no full party atm, just me, bear, eder aloth and durance. I'm wondering if I could change something... the bear is good tank but low dmg, in the social interaction I'm no good talker, and my party seems to die easily from anything which is called "paladin".... Advices? If I have to restart, no prob, I'm not so far....
  10. I was almost in the same situation... started with a melee strong class... now I'm playing a ranger though, cos the idea of the button smashing killing machine wasn't appealing at all. Looking at your preferences, I'd go chanter. Fun class, not much micromanaging, always useful... give it a try!
  11. Question: Is 4th level too early to attempt raedric's castle?
  12. So today I've been off work, and started my new pg. It's just an all-round boreal dwarf ranger, with 16 dex and 16 per, bear companion (it's not called moose, my fault haha) and I'm 4th level now. His damage is ok, and the bear just tanks there along with eder. Thus far, he's ok. I come from Vailia and have hunter bg. Found my first good crossbow... but maybe i'll choose arbalests just because in the flavour text it says it's dwarven Any advices to go on or just keep playing?
  13. Lol... moose Bear fits well with a dwarf.... mmm I'll think about it. Regarding the rest of the post Boeroer.... I'm not really into number crunching, especially since I'm not an expert. I'll just play and enjoy!
  14. Good to know dwarves ar good. I'm a huge fan of 'em. Now only to decide bg and starting stats...and I'm ready to go!
  15. That sounds GOOD. 'Cos I really love dwarves... even if in this game they're not properly drawn imho... too skinny.. Crossbow dwarven ranger.... like it...
  16. Ok mates, I'll try to figure out something as a main Char idea. Orlans sound fun anyway.. i thought of them just not to be the typical elf. is a dwarf any good for a ranger?
  17. I see... thanks Ben. Any ideas for a good race and background?
  18. Sorry Ben, don't fully understand your statement. Does it mean that I must drop res in order to get...say... per? or dex? I have still not decided the race and bg also... dunno for now... elf is kinda obvious...
  19. Thanks again for your strategies, but I really don't require to be a "machine gun". It's enough to be a good character who can hold his own in combat and be useful. Good dialogue options complete the PC. Ranger or rogue seem like good choices to me,... cypher is maybe too difficult to use for a newbie?
  20. Hey, thanks for your help! So, class-wise the choice narrows down to ranger or rogue? I'm not sure which one I would be able to use... does the ranger have good dialogue options? You know I don't min max so for me some builds are not even viable.. I'll have to choose my own stats and background... do rogue sneak attack even if ranged? Sorry, I don't know anything about those two classes....
  21. Hail everyone. Especially those that already know me and whom I've manage to annoy! I've played some other games in this period of absence, and now, I want to try again this title, with a new approach. I have now understood the real nature of this game, and I'm ready to play it as it should. I've recently discovered in P&P my passion for the crossbow. Is it a viable weapon? What class complements this weapon the best? Thank you, hope you can help!
  22. Hey, everyone has got his own opinion.. no need to be sarcastic... I expected more work done on the Npcs, what's so bad in it? I may call your opinion of DA strictly unjustified, and the number of copies sold are there to testify it. But even without this, the only thing I see is you mocking me because I don't like a game...
  23. Hail, I've been away for a while. I also own Divinity OS... never went past the first hour of play. The reaction of the character are pre-generated, so you already know what's going to happen. Different thing is playing co-op, never done it, so can't judge. Nothing to do, I just can't stand handling many characters. I don't want to "imagine" a particular reason why they're fighting together, I want to interact with people with a solid written story and behavior. DAI remains my model. Forgive my OT but... I'm the inquisitor, everyone else plays around me, they got opinions, they can be romanced, they have quests... main game plus the expansions went to 153hrs of solid rpg play. Story counts far more than positioning your toons before battle.. I want to live a story, not play chess and move my pawns. As to the fact that Pillars should be BG's heir.... yes, of course I figured that out. But also thought that in 2016 and 16gb of hd space, one could fit some more quality.
