It doesn't specify that it must be a melee attack... wiki only states that the bonus activates once you attack a target already attacked by a mate... so I guess it should work... Tomorrow I will finally get my free day from work, and I'm gonna try both the builds, mountain dwarf (resistances venom & disease) plus arquebus and hammer, and continue the orlan one that I already started... Then I'll follow the guys' advice and bring them a little onward, we'll see which one appeals to me the most. Anyway ben, you rock. You gave me the idea that I was looking for!

Well, godlikes can have any physique... so he can well be a towering Aumaua... hurting more the already wounded enemies is good imho... I'll think about it even if I find Godlikes a bit "weird" to say the least... I'm still between stilettos and hammers... seems like arquebus means lotta pain...but i only see this with a dwarf... y'know...hammers and rifle.... otherwise either stay Orlan or Elf perhaps... wood?

Hi Clim and thanks for the big post you made me. When I reroll my MC it's usually not due to low strenght or other mechanical things, but it's mainly due to the fact that I don't like the flavor of the build... It can be aesthetical, it can look bad to me, or I simply may not like the flavor of the class (e.g. the chanter... don't like the idea of having someone singing when he flings his sword... it's a matter of tastes.. not of the class own strenght, I recognize it may be strong) Thus, I'm continuing to brainstorm over my MC to find a flavor (the class will be paladin..) that suits my own playstyle. Add this to the fact that I absolutely dislike stereotypes (knight in shining armor....y'know..) and see why I'm almost there with the pala suggested by ben, on which I'm making the final modifications. What you wrote, instead, it's right, and as soon as the flavor meets my tastes, I'll surely play far more than 4th level, I promise! P.s. Clim, it's not rude, by all means!

I see! so either that or mace to be fast enough.... with mace a little stronger but little slower, correct? Why the blunderbuss over pistol, for example? EDIT Boeroer almost answered my question... I really like though the idea of a "lawless paladin" or such... would pistol do a better job or shall i bring 3 slots?

Hehe thanks for your affection Say... seing as the two builds are tough to combine, how about maybe respeccing him later in the game? I started with Ben's configuration and must say that even with low dex, he IS quite fast and damaging. It's easy to build and has strong mental attitudes..Is stiletto the only weapon that bypasses dr?

Right now I was playing the paladin that the other guy suggested... I'm trying all the build you give me. Next will be yours, Boeroer. At the moment I don't dislike that build... maybe I must carve a background around him but... not bad. 2hand fighting is not bad, as it reduces the penalties in speed for low dex... Edit... come to think of it... would it be possible to "mix" the two builds? Somehow... I like them both...

What a nice build! If I can I will test it today! I'm not really into Orlans, maybe you can suggest another fitting race? Something like elf maybe? Or godlike... Dunno... Or human... Somewhere on the board I also saw a nice dwarven paladin, developed around social abilities and buffing the group... Can't remember where I saw it... But as you stated before, the build you gave me is very effective mentally-wise... I like it! Which exact role must this build fit in the party? Since you told me it's not a tank... How should I play it? I focus on the story and role play a lot... By the way... What makes stilettos and blunderbuss so fitting in turn build? Do they carry some useful stat? Sorry I just don't know all of the little secrets of this game.. I was thinking that without a shield I might get squishy...

Gee, you're right! sometimes you can clearly see I'm not native english... Just saw that armor...wow...it really IS strong! Monks, Paladins or Chanters can use it.. I'm just trying to find something not so stereotypical as the sword and board paladin... or the classic punch punch monk.. I dunno... can't find something so far that really tickles me... The builds on the site are all dramatically min-maxed... which is something I really don't appreciate... so I can't even refer to some particular build.... guess I'll wait then... something will come out of all those advices you're giving me... thanks a lot!

I was referring to the paladin, and I play easy. That's the reason for not taking damage. But with the other MCs I use to be punished quite a lot. I've also tried Monk, but prefer paladin. I have two questions though... does flames of devotion work ranged? Because on the wiki it says melee only... and then again... I was curious about a hybrid paladin build... just wanted to know if it's viable...
-
I've played for a while trying paladin. He's tanky no doubt. All the prologue done and no injuries at all. The ability he gets at first level, flames of devotion is really strong.. I wonder if there's a single way to build it... or also for example a hybrid ranged/melee... dunno... any of you knows something about pally? What race suits best? I tried moon godlike... but taking no damage, maybe it's not the best...

I read the articles you suggested. They are technically very accurate, but they don't describe role play in the least.. For the build you created, that of the long pain, does a wood elf suit? Does his bonus apply to long pain or other ranged targets? Can I pick clergyman as bg and have some more options in dialogue? What stats do I start with? P.s. But with all those bonuses and auras shouldn't the paladin be the most tanky class out there?
-
I couldn't ever play a fighter, sorry guys, I find them dull and boring... Either monk or paladin, as I can't find a way to build a character that really shines from start to finish. Maybe the clergyman bg with the monk can put some spice into conversations... Or the paladin. Still undecided on which to take... I loved priest but he's too weak at the beginning. I also thought I would do a wood elf and start with bow... Increased accuracy and good damage... Maybe I'll try it... Just to be sure I won't leave something not tried..
-
Yep, it's still me, testing the patience of fellow forum friends! There's nothing to do, I thank everyone who has tried to help me out with priest, but I just can't play it. Forgive me if I wasted your time, I just hope your info can help somebody else in this board who's trying to build a priest. I've decided to go either monk or paladin (yes even if I play it in P&P) I have realized that I need a MC who can take care of himself right from the start, and stay into the fray without too many things to think of. (someone called this attitude "hands off character") I prefer monk for it's a class that I've always liked, but in the other forum someone suggested I might just be into paladin, being it a priest with more war attitude and less squishiness. So I'm here, at the end of my nightshift, calling out to you, Boeroer, Abel, and the other that have been so kind to me. Please, keeping in mind the main concepts (such as being able to talk etc.) give me some clues as to which MC to build, in your opinion ofc. Thank you guys, you rock. Slack83er

I understand you but... is the start of the game supposed to be hard even in EASY difficulty? I tried my priest and I died during the very prologue... I'm not that bad at rpgs, I've been playing since baldur's gate.... the old version! I dunno, it seems that every choice I make I keep doing something wrong...
