  1. From what you all are writing to me, I understand firstly and foremost not to spread my points too thin, or else I'll end up like a jack of all trades and master of none. I'll try to start with ranged, and switch to melee later. What should I use as a spell to buff my cleric in the first levels? My perception will be low so I won't hit that much... Should I remain elven maybe wood elf for more accuracy while ranged? Or shall I go Moon Godlike for augmented healing all play long? When you all start to share your knowledge I feel very frustrated as I don't know much of this game, forgive me...
  2. I play paladin in pen and paper so I wanna be different here. Sorry for not stating it in this post. Livegood, you're probably right with your build, but you're min-maxing a bit too much for my tastes... It's ok for me not to be the top damager or top-something... I just wanna enjoy the game at its full potential and story-wise. The pale knight just suits enough.... I don't have preferences with weapons or other things... I could go with spear, flail.... quarterstaff.... Quarterstaff is pretty beautiful on a cleric tbh... Edit.. you know... maybe the moon godlike appeals more to my style of play... I don't know how it works, but the elf seems to be very very squishy.... I started with medium armor and shield on easy, I ended up dead in no time...
  3. What am I missing without res? I don't want to be harsh in conversation anyway.. but deflection is lowered this way..
  4. This would be good but I think it would hamper my gameplay... the already weak endurance and speed would be destroyed enough...I don't think I can handle it...
  5. Thanks Abel, Boeroer are you ok with this? If so, then I start playing!
  6. What fantastic advices! Thank you all!! Pale elf-pale knight.... sounds rather creepy and unusual, as well as versatile enough! I'm very curious to play it! I'll go do it! What should I choos in your opinion as starting stats and/or bg?
  7. I'd like to stay melee, and only sometimes go ranged. I want to be in the front line, as a leader of the group. I thought of dwarf, but dunno... I kinda dislike them in Poe... I liked elf for my priest... Or godlike...
  8. Party, normal party game. When you say endurance syphon, you mean a weapon with that enchantment on it? P.s. I reckon the godlike's ability is really strong for a priest... but can you confirm it can justify the absence of a headguard?
  9. Hi all, and first and foremost, thanks to all the people that supported me on my last very nooobish thread. Now, as soon as this night of work ends, I'm about to start my campaign as a Priest. I know roughly what it should look like, and I've been advised that Eothas and Magran are the best role-playable deities. What do I need now? I need your best personal advices on all the rest of customizable options... such as race, background... homeland...etc. and possibly the reasons behind them. What I'm sure of is: - I don't want to die easily, can't play squishy characters such as robed mages. - I value roleplay a lot...the more dialog/play options I have, the better. - I want to be very useful to my party. - I want my toon to be "coherent".. I don't want to be an elven brute with 19 vigor... for example.. or be an elf with very low dex.... - That said I also like some "twists" to stereotypes. I don't necessarily need to be a cleric with mace and shield... - I don't want any min-max. I'll play easy or normal, I don't revel in testing my mouse prowess, I value story and role. Please, I wouldn't want any of you to feel like you're being "exploited" and do the job in my place... I'm just trying to gather your experiences, because I come from completely different rpgs, and I'm afraid I can lose something in the game experience, and I don't want to play the game 3 o 4 times just to try different paths.... A whole bunch of thank you for your patience from a nooooob.
  10. Today I haven't played at all due to the fact that this evening I'm on a nightshift, and slept the whole day I'll try to put this into practice once I take the game again. If I understand correctly what you say, you are telling me that every casting class has a hard time at the beginning while outshining the normal melee classes while gaining levels. I'll see this for myself as soon as I try bringing my toon on in the game. Thanks for your help!
  11. Wow, I really have to say you just prepared it all very well.... You even built a story around it... Chapeau! Well I might do the same... You inspired me to play with a bit more... Let's say... Foreplanning. Now... Sure things are: aeothas or magran... Elven priest with the same statistics as I told you before... Maybe ecclesiastic background... Which adds to lore... Mm should work, and I'll try to take my companions early on. I'll tell you how I fare.
  12. Hahaha nono, please don't scar the poor elf! But tell me... The elf has resistance to ice and fire if I'm correct... Do you find it useful? And about other abilities... What do you prefer? Athletics, lore...
  13. So you too chose an elf to start with... Did you follow a build or built it to your own taste? I chose eothas as a deity, hoping the suggested behavior don't impede me much... I recognize what you said... Monks are effective only in battle while cleric are very versatile, thus a steeper learning curve... You made me think about it, you have a point.
  14. Cleric with weapon/shield? mmmm.. I could but... sounds like stereotype to me... mace and shield.... typical cleric... I'll think about it...
  15. Nonono sorry, my words were poorly chosen.... I meant that my character, even though he's a cleric and a healer, can't take care of himself... I feel like he's got too many things to do... Let's make an example: Combat starts, I cast a spell... maybe something like hold monster... but it lasts roughly 10 secs... just the time to attack once or twice with a bow... not much damage though... 'round 20 dmg... then he comes for me and I suffer like 40 damages and my icon becomes red. I need to refill endurance, and lose another action, while he attacks me again, I'm near death now... I attack again and kill the poor little spider... I'm forced to rest or I'm torn in two... I mean... is this the way the cleric has to fight his way to 6th level? With the monk, it was like... punch...punch again, punch again... maybe suffer 3 dmg... enemy killed.... I can't understand where I'm doing wrong...
  16. Reload time seems like endless to me. While I'm there loading my crossbow, they've just minced me to pieces.... sigh... That's why I prefer monk now... no reload, just fists, fast hits, strong resilience... if only he was a man of faith....
  17. Darn... I like roleplay but find difficult playing the priest.... maybe because I want him to be the MAIN character right from the start... perhaps with the right group he'd do fine... I'm confused.... Anyway, the monk I tried had 15 int... he had dialog options, just not those meant for a priest or a scholar...
  18. You talking about temple of Eothas? If that's the case...I've tried soloing it on EASY and I die EASILY... With the monk this didn't happen. He could solo many things, and took very little damage....while punching like a smith.. I don't know... everyone here is suggesting Priest, especially for the sake of roleplay but... would it really be that different with a monk? Would I be losing SO MUCH dialogue options and lore?
  19. I'm givin' him a try.. bow and arrows for the moment... i can't find a possible use for my magic....
  20. I'm going elven priest of eothas, I want to see what comes out of it. Made him from aedwyr, and values are 14 10 12 15 15 12. Now n to see what happens in the first hour of play....
  21. Mmm so I understand that Eothas spices things up a little... that's good news. Aside of that, I noticed that ranged weapon are terribly slow... should dex raise the speed enough? I tried one of the builds in the builds section, the one with the dwarf... no luck. Squishy as hell even in normal...slow... does practically nothing until maybe sixth or seventh level... definitely not my playstyle. I don't know if I should pick dwarf.... leave all builds behinds, since most of 'em are just PotD archetypes, and try to forge my own toon...
  22. Hi, good day all of you guys. I've just tried to build a priest according to the flame priest build. It's very squishy, due to low con, but it kinda kicks a**es from the start with a simple crossbow, even if it's terribly slow. What I'm wondering is... How many dialogues and situations will be affected by the fact that I'm a cleric? Is he more role playable than other chars? Matter is... I don't want to be limited by casting amounts or the like, so I continue to prefer monk over priest. Will I be forced to take Durance? Is he so bad or annoying as they depict him?
  23. Hi again. Thanks for your last insights. I've tried the priest in a quick way... But something seems just... I dunno, too boring. I really like priests generally, so maybe I've done something wrong... I tried a dwarf with hammer and shield... He just waves the hammer.. Nothing more... Low level magic seems useless... What have I misunderstood? Where's my fault? Also.. How to put his stats so that he is role playable??
  24. Mmmm I've been trying a monk just to see... man he whacks! Now... I completely left the barbarian behind, and have decided to go either monk or priest (still have to try this). Can you recommend a good priest build? One that can also strongly roleplay? EDIT: Nope, no priest for me... Monk is the choice!
