Well... I'd say bow, since the cipher already adds me 20% on its own... Now i'm trying to make it rogue-ish.... that is: sneak, use apprentice sneak attack and fire unseen, lot of damage, good focus charge. Escape, let the others go front, shoot mind magic from behind... Still undecided on the race... elf seems good, death godlike too.. orlan could also be....

Longbow I have tried. No like. The distance is too far away, once focus is charged I have to move close anyway... Pike or staff, instead offer reach.... mmm viable... I'd like him to be sorta rogue with mental powers... I even did it death godlike... so even the godlike's added damage should stack for focus, right?

Cheers! Need some info on the cipher that some of you expert players might share with me.. I've noticed how slow one can be in drawing focus.. does the drained focus depend on the damage dealt or from the weapon? I've also noticed that many powers reach not very far. The description itself paints it like a "spellknife"... Is there any sense in building a ranged cipher? I'm asking this last question because, among the soulbind-able weapons the ones for cipher are bow and crossbow....so I'm a bit confused about what's best for him.. I tought of firearms (not very long range) and stilettos maybe... but it's still hypothesis...

What you describe seems either barbarian or monk, depending on your playstyle.. While barbarian uses frenzy and has the ability to dish out damage even to those surrounding the main target, monk exploits the damage he receives in a very powerful way. Regarding the builds, just check the appropriate section. Every build has the details explained.

While what you say is true, the rogue is very battle-oriented... I'm not looking to micromanage positions to achieve sneak attacks or the like.. It's a personal taste, but for me, the real pathfinders are rangers, even though I must recognize that even the ranger favors combat in its own way... What I have in mind is... the hooded traveler, with the quarterstaff and (in the case of the ranger) his faithful companion. Elusive, not very talkative and sneaky. The animal is obviously not a staple... maybe even a monk could be a traveler of this kind...

Hail travelers! You came here because you can't make up your mind about what MC to play? You don't want to stick to "classic stereotypes" such as the "skinny mage" or the "strong but stupid warrior"? You have come to the right place! This post is born after a suggestion from Jojobobo. He said in another thread of mine, I should build THE thread where one can either post or search for unusual builds. These builds, unlike the OFFICIAL builds thread, need not be "the strongest" in any way. They just represent the poster's will to enjoy the game in an original way, or to reproduce some "archetypes" from other RPGs or other fantasy worlds. They MAY or MAY NOT be extremely competitive, they are just meant to be FUN. Well, that said.. If you have some ideas, just post them here. You don't need to be schematic nor extremely accurate like in the official thread, you can just post an IDEA and share it with the other members! E.g. In other threads I thought of several MCs... the Nature's Warden Paladin, the Buccaneer Rogue, the Skald Chanter.... Ok, let's hear from you! P.s. If this thread is in any way inappropriate, because -let's say- it is redundant with the official one... or for any other reason..let me know.

Ok ok... there's no need to argue... I simply like an idea of character, regardless of whether he is THE MOST powerful in what he does OR if he was intended for that role. I value fun and roleplay far more than sheer power... That said... I was thinking of an elf, as originally Arcane Archers were elves.. Then a high PER I think, high INT.... and then? Well, I'll try..

Howdy folks, Since I've created the poll, and reading all your comments, I began to wonder: Since PoE is such a flexible game in terms of builds (meaning that it follows no stereotypes such as stupid warriors or feeble mages) I would like to know if there is someone out there that managed to "transform" a Wizard in a valid ranged combatant (firearms maybe... or something else) which of course is aided by magic. And since the Wizard starts with 1 point in Mech, I figure it as some kind of "adventurous scholar", someone not weak at all. Do you believe this could be possible?
