RAnDoM VidEO GAmE NeWS
Polygon reviewed it. I didn't read the reviews of either it or the PS4 review (too long and not enough time) but the XBox One evidently scored a half point higher.

Space Fans: X Rebirth has a Release Date!
I guess my usage of gamepads for many PC flight sims doesn't have them much different than my joystick (i.e. I still use the keyboard at times).

Space Fans: X Rebirth has a Release Date!
Would it be possible to play the original Wing Commanders or X-Wing/TIE Fighters with just a gamepad?

Space Fans: X Rebirth has a Release Date!
I really enjoyed 1 and 2 but I think maybe was burnt out for 3? This is on my radar but will probably be a cheaper purchase.

Allan plays Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut
It ended up being late so I just called it a night, but hopefully it's just something that gets fixed with a restart.

I also disagree with the notion that default narrative settings are apolitical. Thanks for sending me to a whiny ass blog. Happy to oblige. It has plenty of links to if you're curious about the validity of the claims. Regardless, I stand by the statement: anyone that thinks that "default narrative settings" are apolitical are lying to themselves. It's like when someone goes "Oh they called a game sexist, it's just to get more hits." If any attempt to push away from the "default" is seen as political, then the default is itself a political statement. Doubly so if people make a big deal about deviations away from the default as being political/social statements.

David Attenborough disappointed with and sick of the USA's head in the sand attitude to global warming
I understand that it happens and whatnot, but in a vacuum I always enjoy the thought of oil both being imported and exported haha.

Dragon Age: Inquisition
That's fair. The game was played with a controller for the demo and while rudimentary PC controls exist (you can WASD and interact with things and whatnot), there will still be a PC GUI. If/when the interface is done and shown I'll post it here (if I remember >.>). Not sure what the plans are for the full PC interface though so I can't say what will/will not be in there (but I'd be surprised if a quickbar didn't exist as our last two games had them).

While I think it'd be great if we went away from this too, the legacy of BioWare's games has always been very combat intensive. Can you elaborate? EDIT: Feel free to take this to the DAI thread.

Eh, I still have the starter assault rifle and do well with it. I don't find there to be a significant boost in terms of weapon unlocks. Maybe I will later. The single player campaign can unlock some pretty good weapons too (based on the choice I made, I got the M249 which I like due to its expansive magazine size). The biggest thing I find is the optics, which you usually get after 10 kills which isn't too bad (dropping iron sights is so useful IMO).

You're surprised that they chose to not punish their legit customers with DRM and instead went after the pirates? Well, if you read the article you'd see that that didn't go so well. The context I was using it in, of course, was regarding competing with piracy, while an allusion to the references that his. Unless you consider "accusing people of stealing your software and coming at them with a lawsuit" to be a good thing. Given your sardonic remark, I assume it's a safe assumption that you're a supporter of suing people that have never heard of your game because you are "100% certain" that they stole it? Or were you just being pedantic? Furthermore, the article openly states that GoG and CD Projekt stuff like "Today, GOG no more tries to prevent online piracy than CD Projekt tried to prevent computer market piracy all those years ago." Which isn't really a fair statement since they obviously felt strongly enough about piracy to not only track it, but to aggressively go after everyone that they felt committed it. Though to be fair, I suppose I misread what Mamoulian War was referring to, since the article states that the creators of CD Projekt openly admitted to benefiting from piracy, and use said justification because it wasn't illegal in their country. In an article that talks up the benefits that Marcin received by pirating software, it seems unusual (and perhaps contradictory) to aggressively go after pirates only to have an article talk about how it's not something they're concerned with. But I guess they have the defense of "but it IS illegal" for the country's in question?

I'm surprised they opted for this course of action if what the article says is so true: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-12-15-cd-projekt-responds-to-demanding-nearly-and-8364-1000-from-alleged-pirates
