My point was more that Monster Cable still exists (it wasn't economic suicide). Although Langdell does seem to be hurting.

I didn't post it to help me in any way, and it certainly wasn't sarcastic. Mental thought experiment: take her post and imagine it's about your favourite developer. Think some might react differently? I'm sure Obsidian would just hate it if someone were to feel that way about the setting of Project Eternity. I know there are some that would like BIoWare to "just die already" but I think it's important to note that there are people who like different things. I was completely let down by Oblivion, but I don't hate on Bethesda or want them to die. I've even still bought other games from them (Fallout 3 and FONV). I skipped on Skyrim and will wait for it to be on sale. The only people I was teasing were those that I knew were going to get defensive about it, simply because it's a post from a fan that loves BioWare. At least someone like Ghost of Anakin was able to take the ribbing in stride, so +approval for you GoA!

This point undermines your self-perceived authority on how F2P works and what costs are associated with it. At this point it's just the typical "I dislike EA, so I will manufacture reasoning by imagining that their current implementation will incur additional costs simply due to the nature of the implementation, because trying to point out that there's severe financial implications is all EA will listen to." Your assertion is only correct if all the F2P players do is log in, play their class campaign, do nothing else, and then stop playing altogether once they are done. They have to take more time to accomplish the same amount of stuff, yes, but unless their goal was to simply get through the content as fast as possible and then stop, this incurs no additional to cost for EA in terms of server infrastructure. And even if that IS all they are doing, they costs are only felt at the tail of the playthrough, and I think you're overstating their impacts. The idea, however, that they'll be logging in more frequently than they otherwise would have, implies they would have played less with a subscription. Unfortunately gamer habits contradict this assertion. When people have a subscription, they feel compelled to play more because it ensures they get more game time for their dollar. I say all this with the notion that I think they'd be better served with a different F2P model to boot.

It's not like Monster Cable doesn't do the exact same thing though. And they are still around. They actually tried suing Disney for the movie "Monsters, Inc."

If you're an employee they value, it shouldn't be something you have to worry about. I started out as contract with BioWare too, but I actually didn't jump at the chance to work OT at every opportunity, nor did I hesitate to state that I disagree with a decision. I think it just comes down with HOW it is done (unless the people are actually ponces). I always got the impression that people respected me for stating a differing viewpoint, because a team of yes-men doesn't get much critical analysis.

Yeah I know what it's like to have to reconcile selfish desires with those nosy conscience rattles. I don't hold it against you, but I do encourage Mr. Nepenthe to still make decisions that look out for #1 I find my bigger "regrets" in life are the times I sacrificed my own interests for someone else's, only to find out that that someone else was ultimately not deserving of such a sacrifice. I typically prefer proactive choice, because while it's a risk for me to disrupt my status quo (and the security that that provides), I have since learned (and it required me to get burned by "being the nice guy" a few times) that I am ultimately more satisfied making an active choice to pursue something that I want and failing, rather than feeling secure wondering "what if?" Though we're all different, and I'm also single with no dependents so it's easy for me to make decisions that only affect myself. In any case, I hope another Dream Job swings by your neck of the woods.

Because it's a familiar setting and game, and with that comes an expectation that it'll provide the same type of experience that was provided with BG 1/2. (This isn't a perspective I agree with)

Meetings, meetings, wrote up many emails, documented some stuff, came up with some plans for some other things, met Patrick Soderlund, learned his thoughts on the game so far, yadda yadda yadda, and just got home. Whew.

The grievance isn't that the winner is too white, but rather that the candidate selection was not representative of an even distribution based on demographics. As in, the competition was biased to pick a white winner. (I can't validate whether or not this is true, and in general disagree with the notion put forth).

I know there are infrastructure issues which affect content delivery, which sucks big time for the project Was very disappointing because my best friend was part of the downsizing when it seemed evident they weren't going to stabilize at the numbers they wanted.

It's funny though because the idea of free form space with friends was exactly what I would have loved about Privateer haha (never played Elite)

Well Monty was "KAMIKAZE" in Civ4 haha. The first thing to ignore in a Civ game, IMO, is the timescale. It's cool when it kind of matches, but yeah you get "wars" that last 1000s of years in the early game. In Civ 5 I rarely build military, but usually my economy is so dominant that I can easily just buy it. In my current game as Egypt, I have a tech lead and could easily spit out 5 units of infantry with some fighters, armies, and bombers and go cap the capitals of my foes and win the game in probably 5 or 6 turns.
