  1. Production started in july 2000, KOTOR has gone gold in July 2003. Three years of work and story is incredibly childish and stupid, sidequests are boring* only climate is superior. Now look at TSL released after one year... *I'm comparing with other Bioware games like Shadows of Amn, Undrentide or Throne of Bhaal. I wonder why KOTOR is so beneath those games? It was made by the same company.
  2. I wonder if Bioware will now port Jade Empire to PC, after that humiliating defeat....
  3. KOTOR story is silly and childish while TSL has dark climate and is full of surprises. But overally it sucks when compared to Shatterpoint or Last Stand on Jabiim or few others star wars masterpieces. I found Mace Windu's ruminations on the Force from Shatterpoint much more mature and interesting than Kreia's babble merged with exile as hole in the force and traditional revan ass-licking. It all looked like Avellone's extravaganza intended to shock fans with something philosophically new, but it just turned out to be boring contradiction to the traditional star wars philosophy. Overally it is a very good game but not as good as Last Express or Shadows of Undrentide. And when you compare TSL to Tempest Feud, Riders of the Maelstrom or other classic pen-and-paper SW RPG campaigns, you will find that it has very little true star wars climate.
  4. I'd rather vote for the second option. Most dialogs about the Force in TSL is weird and non-starwars. The entire concept of exile as a hole in the force is unnecessary crap.
  5. I hope that Revan's part in KIII will be limited to the the discovery of cute sith sarcophagus with mummified Revan inside, with cool items, armor, amulets... and True Sith shall be mercifully forgotten by KIII authors as a crap worthy of forgetting.
  6. Taris was best part of KOTOR. Rest of the game sucks especially Maanan and Star Forge junk. Obsidian's unfinished TSL is totally superior to KOTOR and Jade Empire.
  7. Volourn when you will realize, that you have lost this discussion long ago?
  8. And what it has to do with screwed cameos? I don't care about Revan, I hate him as I hate 'true sith' crap. I am happy that looser isn't present in TSL. K1 party members should have bigger roles. Added spoiler tags on the quote... -Battlewookiee
  9. Delving into China's ancient history and copying entire elements of this civilization can hardly be called groundbreaking. It is the same method of using established world - the only difference is that ancient China was real while star wars or FR are pure fiction.
  10. Please. Not another, "I am so L33T because I play games on a PC and not console" debate. News Flash: PLAYING VIDEO GAMES ON ONE SYSTEM, OR ANOTHER DOES NOT MAKE YOU SUPERIOR NO MATTER WHAT YOUR EGO TELLS YOU! There is a reason why console systems are now more profitable and more user-friendly than PC games as much as die-hard PC gamers don't want to admit: 1) They innovate. Have you played the game "Mercenaries"? It is a third-person, Grand Theft Auto-style, freeroam, over-the-top military style shoot'em up that has a MINIMUM of 52 open-ended levels PLUS side-quests and mini-games you can do along the way and you can even play the game AFTER you finish the main quest (52 mission/levels). And this is on a system that is basically a 1999-era PC (a 733 Pentium III and GeForce 2 graphics card with a total of 64 MB of RAM). How about Fable? This is one of the most fun, open-ended RPGs on any system. Sure, it's not as "serious" as KOTOR -- If that is even possible considering this is freakin' Star Wars in the first place -- But it is a persistent world that has day and night cycles; you can interact with NPCs a hell of a lot more than in any of the KOTOR games; what you do actually DOES change the storyline AND how NPCs view you -- and not in scripted cut-scenes either; actually IN THE GAME as you play -- As well as your character ages; can get married; there are Same-Sex relationships allowed; You can buy real estate AND play the game beyond the core storyline just like Mercenaries when you are done just to name a few. Again, this is for an "obselete" system and hardware the XBox carries. 2) Console games must meet an established set of standards (for all consoles) before they are allowed to go gold. This is fact. There is no way in Hell the PC games segment would survive with such standards in place because half of the stuff that is put out these days would never make it to gold status (which would be a good thing for consumers in the long, but bad for companies because it would force them to complete their games and make sure they are of the highest quality). Sure. No game on any platform is perfect... BUT they have to be a lot more functional and complete than KOTOR II was/is to be allowed on the console as a majority of console games are [KOTOR II is the anomoly because I am pretty sure it was allowed to pass "as is" purely based on the popularity, aka profits, of the first one as well as LA's name]. Again, ironic there exists more standards for systems with outdated hardware than the latest and greatest rigs that either Intel or AMD can put out, huh? 3) The new XBox 360 and PS3 are going to be basically high-end gaming rigs with hardware that not even the PC gaming enthusiast market is going to have yet. This means no longer will the games be restricted by 1999-era hardware and this should let developers innovate even more which means BETTER quality products in all areas including visuals, gameplay, sound and online as well. But if you want to keep telling yourself that you are superior because you play games on a PC than a console... Please, do us all a favor and get a life. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> These are all subjectives. I don't think Mercenaries are that good and Fable is just a crap. But keep telling yourself that consoles are superior and more fun, if that allows you to sleep at night.
  11. PC-only Neverwinter Nights proved to be more profitable than JE. It's just a fact. A bitter lesson for Bioware: don't enter console crap!
  12. KOTOR II was a pure console title ported to PC, so your ruminations doesn't make sense.
  13. That's no mod. That's restoration project. It restores official content that wasn't scripted becosue of rushed release.
  14. I suffer becouse of TSL rushed ending, but Aurora Team soon will fix that. But no power in the universe will fix Jade Empire's triviality.
  15. I'd prefer to play unifished game that has interesting concepts than some lollypop kungfu
  16. PC means a gambler risk and that's half of a PC charm. You risk - but profits are great. Consoles are for cowardly peasants.
  17. Jade Empire surely is completely finished game without rushed release... And it still sucks when compared to unfinished, bugged and abandoned TSL.
  18. As much as I dislike consoles I care, cause consoles are deciding about PC gaming - best example is KOTOR series. Avellone admitted that during development he was limited by xbox obsolete abilities. Have KOTOR been developed for PC only, it could be a game with much bigger swing.
  19. Does it matter? By the time KOTOR III hits the shelves, PC will be having an upper hand over the Xbox360 and PS3
  20. You should - I'd made Exar's spirit main protagonist
