This system appeared after Ruusan battle 1000 years before Skywalker when Darth Bane reformed sith traditions. Title "Darth" which was Bane's name also is used among the sith who exist AFTER Ruusan Era NEVER before, becouse this title was kind of a ceremonial respect toward the foundator and reformer of the Sith - Darth Bane (and so we have Darth Imperius, Darth Sidious, Darh Tyranus, Darth Vader and many others) What was really pathetic in KOTOR was that idiots from Bioware used the title Darth which shouldn't appear at all in this time period. It only shows us how weak knowledge about EU have developers of original KOTOR (not to mention about other flaws).

You refer to dark side ending now. Still don't understand nothing. Any game can't be based on different endings. If you think so try to make scenario for such game. No one will complicate things by such nonsense (and no one ever was). I am closing this issue now 'cause there is no point in continuing it.

Well for example Jedi Outcast was based on light side ending. Katarn remained a Jedi freed ghosts from the valley and now bad Desann tries to retake the secret from him. If devs would consider also dark ending which is extremely different (Katarn as Dark Emperor rules galaxy using power of the valley) then it would be impossible to make any sense storyline becouse storyline canot be based on two different endings. Do you get it now?

Yeah but there is general storyline of whole series. Do you realize what chaos would we have in Jedi Knight series if devs would got both endings as real? Besides I don't know how it is possible to dislike Carth or Bastila? They are very interesting characters with their own problems and they are more human that most characters in video games. I can't imagine killing anyone of them...

Options are your friend. I fail to see how letting the player have more control on an individual level is considered a bad thing. It would mean more chaos and I'd prefer clear solutions in basic things. There must be some stable elements and Bastila's presence should be such element. and everyone will cringe at seeing the Master-Vrook-like dumb character of a Bastila, or Revan. Well that's why I want to see bastila and Revan in Jedi Council. Surely they can be more intelligent that Assner-voiced-Vrook. Mace Windu is in Jedi Council but he is still interesting character. I want to see some normal guys in the council...

In Jedi Knight we had two alternative endings yet later in Jedi Outcast devs showed only light side ending as real one. Here should be the same solution: only one of the endings is real. Who remembers today that Katarn became Dark Emperor? Everyone just know that he freed jedi ghosts from the forgotten valley. I think that bioware made a great mistake by giving players chance to kill Bastila. Now we have "a great dilemma" becouse of that. I said earlier: THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A PRETEXT TO PLACE HER IN THE JEDI COUNCIL. The problem is if devs are normal guys (Bastila fans) or dangerous perverts who enjoyed killing her.

Continuity between KOTOR & KOTOR 2 is none of my concern...devs can always invent some excuse for Bastila as a Jedi Council member...Revan can be in this Council too-as a master

I do not really believe that Obsidian will be so stupid to copy storyline of the "Return of the Jedi" where Luke was last prevailing Jedi... I think that more logic would be in Jedi Order dissolved by the Senate and some unofficial Jedi Underground leaded by Jedi Council with Bastila as a member that will advise your main character or give him assignments.
