KILIAN RANGERS this was the term used to describe the small band of elite warriors which was established to protect the noble houses of Kilia IV. All members of the Kilian Rangers were sensitive to the Force, and were chosen for their skills in using it. The development of an individual Ranger was much different than that of a Jedi student, but there was similar emphasis on the development of their attunement to the Force. The Kilian Rangers were also similar to the Jedi Knights in that some of their membership fell prey to the Dark Side of the Force. These fallen Rangers became members of the Renegades. More?

FALLANASSI MAGES a group of beings which originated on Lucazec, the Fallanassi eventually became a quasi-religious order made up of various species. The Fallanasi were originally formed by a group of Force adepts who followed the way of the White Current, another name for the Force. The original Fallanasi had no desire to physically affect their surroundings, and their knowledge of the White Current eliminated all aspects of physical manipulation using the Force. Instead, they focused on the mind, spirit and body, and how these three entities formed a single individual. This flowed into the ways in which numbers of individuals formed the eddies and whorls of the White Current. The Fallanassi were the subject of Imperial pursuit during the Galactic Civil War, for Palpatine wanted to control their Force-like powers. The Fallanassi fled Lucazec some two years before the Battle of Yavin, and scattered throughout the galaxy. They have an innate ability to change names, appearances, and habits in order to blend in with their surroundings. This has allowed them to evade Imperial pursuit on the various worlds they fled to, such as Teyr and Atzerri. Most of the Fallanassi had relocated to planets in the Koornacht Cluster, and were subjected to the executions of the Yevetha during the Black Fleet Crisis. A few realized the danger, and sent the Star Morning to recover any and all survivors. Following the Battle of N'zoth, the remaining Fallanassi fled the Cluster and hid themselves, hoping to recover from their losses and regain their strength and unity. Oh hell I almost forgot: all entries from Robert Vitas' Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia!

If you can't decide Baley, I'll do it for you! Here we go: MISTRYL SHADOWGUARD well-muscled, female warriors from the planet Emberlene, the Mistryl were personally commissioned by the Eleven Elders of the People to protect and defend not only Emberlene but other down-trodded peoples as well. Any pay the Mistryls acquired was returned to Emberlene, in order for the native population to purchase the necessities of life. The Mistryl were turned against the Empire after they were told of the Empire's part in the destruction of Emberlene. Although they sometimes worked for the Empire in order to obtain funds, they never aligned themselves with Palpatine's forces. At their heart, the Mistryl worked with every opportunity to exact some form of revenge on the Empire for its part in Emberlene's destruction, although most never knew that the Empire had nothing to do with the devastation of the planet. Who wants more?

What would you like to know about first?

Malkite Assassin would own any Force User without much problem. With rest I agree.

I tend to believe that star wars RPG game set in the New Republic times offers more possibilities in terms of class diversity. Many writers from Daley to Zahn invented many interesting jobs for the PC and indeed KOTOR choices looks mediocre with Jedi/Sith classes and virtually nothing more. In Luke's Era there are many classes that are equal to Jedi - like Nightsisters or Crimson Guards, and becouse of that game set in Luke's times would be much more diversed than KOTOR series. Choose on of the classes and explain your choice my fellow users. Hades_One should be satisfied... at last. "

Crimson Guards, Malkites, Bothan Spies or Mistryls have nothing common with the Force. They are ordinary, deadly folks.
-
The good thing about New Republic Era is that you have more interesting RPG classes available, not only Jedi and Sith. You can be Zeishon Sha, Mistryl warrior, Nightsister of Dathomir, Crimson Guard (like Kir Kanos), Malkite Assassin, Fallanassi Mage... the setting clearly offers more possibilities than the ancient times.

KOTNR could take place ten years after Endor when Jedi Academy existed and we have a plenty of New Jedi Knights trained by Luke. We could start game as one of these student and thus generated PC would be one of New Jedi Knights. And trust me: no one cares about stupid yuuzhans and NJO. Most fans don't care about rest of those cheesy novels either. People are more likely to accept story that takes place during turbulent, formative years of the New Republic, when imperial warlords threat law and order, Black Sun syndicate tries to corrupt the senate, and many darksiders once trained by Vader wander the galaxy. This is also a great period for some disturbing, crazy adventure. The great thing about Baldur's Gate was, that you could meet well know characters from Forgotten Realms like Drizzt, Elminster, Volo. In KOTNR you could possibly meet Wedge Antilles, Lando, Kir Kanos, Vima Da Boda, Corran Horn, Kyle Katarn or Mara Jade. You could join Talon Karrde and his smuggler gang. Infiltrate and overthrown post-imperial government on some backwater planet. Go to Dathomir and marry one of the Nightsisters  . And it would be cool to have Luke as your boss! Or Mara Jade as your NPC

Does someone clever know how to extract working sound files with quotes of my favourite NPCs like Xan or Khalid? They are so cool that sometimes I'd like to listen to them without running the game - in my winamp for example. When I use Near Infinity I can only extract sounds that doesn't work. But collector's disc for BGII contains some working mp3s of Minsc and others. So it is possible... It would be cool to have Lilarcor sounds instead of those standard WIN XP sounds! (w00t)

Will any of you be pulling a David Gaider?
Nur Ab Sal replied to Shizuka2's topic in Developers' Corner
At the beginning Bastila was presented as a shining heroine. In the end she was shown as a weak and unstable girl who can only beg at the feet of strong males like Malak or Revan. Just notice that no matter how strong you will make her during her stay in the team, when you will encounter her on Rakatan she has artificially lowered stats so she could be defeated more easily by supermale Revan. At least they could left her original stats, that was influenced by gamer. What for I gave her all that feats hmm? Her whole concept was invented only to humiliate the stereotype of a female heroine that is present in world culture since Amazons - to show that strong-willed woman will in fact gladly became a sexual slave of some bald guy only becouse he spanked & bondaged her. I still consider Gaider a concealed sexist waiting to strike again. And what the hell is LON? -
This idea would never work, let's start with. And it sucks hard. I'd rather prefer to start as a Sith Lord in the Ancient Sith Empire with a task of finishing other lords and becoming dark lord, that to run around as some cheesy "first jedi" who didn't even have a damned lightsaber (which was invented 15000 years after foundation of the jedi order by that first jedi) with all those simple folks laughing at me.

All charm about first Jedi is, that he remains unknown.

Favorite Star Wars Series

Jen Hale (like Mark Hamill and Luke) is binded to Bastila forever. I can't imagine her voice serving other character. -

That is the way GL is making his outstanding movies. Besides 2008 release date is most important. The time you know... -
Who do you think should/will make KOTOR 3?
Nur Ab Sal replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Obsidian should make long and complicated storyline with unexpected suspence. Bioware should make game engine and all locations (Taris was greater than Telos admit) Industrial Light and Magic should make all cutscenes and movies. Skywalker Sound should make all ambient sounds. Michael Hoenig (Baldur's Gate series) or maybe even John Williams Himself should compose soundtrack. The game should gone gold in 2008 for xbox2 and PC of course. All these elements taken together, should provide gamers with the greatest game that was ever made. But it's all nur-ab-sal-made science-fiction of course . KOTOR III will probably appear on shelves in mid-2006 with cheesy story, clumsy cutscenes, bugs, Revan as a god-savior and same aurora engine... -
And the other half?

Is Anyone A Bastila/Carth/Revan Trio Fan?
Nur Ab Sal replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion

How do you become a Jedi?
Nur Ab Sal replied to romeo_longsword's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Good that enlightened New Jedi Order led by wise Luke, resigned from this strange social engineering. 80% of New Jedi Knights are guys who joined the ranks between 16-30 year of their lives. And they indeed proved that they are as good as those prequel products of artificial non-family upbringing. -

Nur Ab Sal replied to Bastilla_Skywalker's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Gaider did nothing. He only wrote the ending of Bastila's romance (read: screwed it). Drew Karpyshyn was senior writer during entire KOTOR, he invented Bastila and all other heroes, he wrote almost all dialogs. He currently is working on novel set during KOTOR events. Not some cheesy Gaider. So its Karpyshyn vs Avellone.
