I am interrested in Crime Books, Star Wars ''All Of It''. Also I do study programs like AutoDesk's 3Ds Max 8, for more information about how to make Moduls and other game thingies, for a future career in Game Development. If you want to help a starter, you know my MSN...
  1. Let me tell you what I have hard from someone IN the industry. He said if you wanted to get into the Game Development world and especially the programming world, it would help more to go for a Programmer Education. An Education where you get certified that you know how to program advanced stuff. And not some kind of new Game Developing schools, some which teachs you how to model and stuff... Those things is for absolut amatures. You see, Modelling and Animating is the art part of a game, and art and creativity isnt thing you LEARN IN A BOOK. Here's my plan, study programming in school, in free time do alot of research using a 3D Software, examples of those is, Autodesk's Maya and 3D Studio Max, also there is this one software called Softimage XSI. Languages there is BlitzBASIC, which you could take and learn programming fast with. Also there is C++ which is the Industries Standard! If your a Microsoft fan aka X-Box 360, go for C# and Managed C++.
  2. I believe he ment something like... - What language are you writing it in? What API's? OpenGL and SDL or DirectX? - What features are you going to be implmenting in this simulation? - How is the art going to be like? Which 3D applications are you going to use to model your models? I believe for a game project you would use 5 programmers, 1 animator, 1 modeler "As I understand its going to be low poly so one will do the work" Someone to manage the audio. With around 5 programmers you would be able to make kit really fast, thats what I believe at least . Whtas going to be soo special about this simulaation? How do you make it find together with the suer soo its floating playing?
  3. Game Developer Studies have their own strange story... Heh. You know, if you ask me I would says... Both companies make such great games! And they are familiar to each other very much, but you cant just live with one of them, you just gotta have both. As have been stated before they are friends, and likes to share things together...
  4. Yeah I fully agree! In other games you see some sex stuff sometimes some bloody things... GTA and some other first person shooter games... You see, RPGs is the true games. They are based on living in a world that have been altered by the authors of the game. I believe that developers, before making their game, knows what could be a good way of making a game, but sometimes it would take way to long time. But they dont know that those games that take much time to make pays off better.
  5. Can you simplify this? Because I didnt get the point exactly... Sorry...
  6. I hope he is speaking from his heart too, then he shell haev a seat in heaven.
  7. Dude, For Maya,3Ds Max or XSI learning and studying, I can highly recommend that you give www.3dbuzz.com a vist. And I tell you this, if you leave that place, for the next... Lets say... 24 hours of net surfing or computer exploring, then you can call me a Mossa TheDonkeyAss! Serously that place is just full of intelligent people, good learner stuff, VTMs "Video Training Moduls" and they recently made a special VTM set for Maya especially, which I didnt watch because I am not a Maya user, nor want to be. BUT! They are making 3Ds Max stuff soon, and even through they have made old stuff about 3Ds Max, they can quite help anyone getting started with the newer version of Max... I just means its amazing place for learners, you should definatly check it out. From Your Friend, Mossa TheGreat...
  8. Yea, I think its most likely that a Scripter or Programmer have his Education/Degree, but a 3D Modeller or artist doesnt need his degree or education thing at all, he could work on it in his free time and still be good at it. Yet having a degree in anything computer related is good too, dont you think guys? I mean if your like me, young and is going to start studying towards an education, you should choose something computer related to have a relation to this business. Its still a growing and very depending on alot of things industry, its very unsafly to relay on this to earn for living too. Atleast thats how I sees it, please prove me wrong. As I mentioned it before, I am going for a Programmer Degree/Education, or whatever you call. But in the Game Development Industry is my place, working on it from now on, so I can have my little 2-5 years experience in Game Industry thing, for the future. Can any tell me what programs and abilities exactly an Obsidian Employer should have to get a place in this great company? Like which programs and programming languages? As far as I know its AutoDesk 3Ds Max, and C++ with some OpenGL skills that matters, plus some time with Games and a Passion for it, and a little nip of talent, right? Mossa TheGreat... :D
  9. Umm, personaly I love that seperate Pure Pazaak game you made, its totally cool man!!! But sadly I cannot help you in this case, you might also want to ask in the Team Gizka forums, those guys is experts in KOTOR systems, they might be able to give you a hand. Want me to copy your thread and post it there? If there is anything els I can do... I will be honored if you would ask me... Good Luck, Mossa TheGreat :D
  10. Hello All! Everyone probley knows that, to make good 3D Moduls, Level's, Charaters and alike you would like to have some 2D Sketchs, paintings, pictures, images or whatever you want to call it, to form the wanted object, charater etc. I ask for if I could have some of your Pictures that you used, because I am trying to learn how to paint good myself. I arent very good to it, nor bad, just out of training and I believe that some inspiration would help me more.... Post your pictures in this thread, or a link to them if you would please! And also Development of KOTOR is more then welcome to share some of their 2D stuff, I like KOTOR alot and want to make stuff like it! Thank you all, your always trust worthy wannabe Obsidian Game Developer, Mossa TheGreat...
  11. Hello all! Well, I do hope that KoToR 3 have a more engaging combat system and it gets on PC too. IGN News... Now, I thought about perhaps they could make a kind of... Open ending, like an ending where you go keep building a Jedi Acedemy or something... Helping around people not just end the game and then do it from start again... An open gameply ending, but a nearly closed Story ending...
  12. HaHa, you dont mean that serously do you? Ohh, god! Thats super great, soon there will be no diffrence at all! I was worrying a little if I would be stuck getting to work with people that uses Maya when I am training with 3Ds Max.
  13. Was this Grok, the PR guy who regulated the d&d forums over at the Atari forums? He disappeared from the forums about a year ago, and the name sounds familiar. So it might be. Anyone know? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Getting bigger or smaller, I already have swear'd that whatever Obsidian is getting bigger or smaller I would seek a job at them out, and if they can help me relocate in California from Denmark, then I am definatly in for making it bigger by then, no matter WHAT. Bio Info Update'd soon... In a Teenagers age, studying Game Development Art, Home Studying.
  14. Hey thanks for the back up! Please understand me guys, I sure am going to study in college. Just not 3D stuff, perhaps Programming or HardWare making. You see I personaly love games, and the idea of making them, and I have many idea's for them, plus I believe I have a very good sense in Philosofy, but my English skills needs a good clean up, and upgrading thats for sure... Believe it or not, I do have 3 languages to hold control on plus German... Good Luck To Me From Me! Now, just to clearlify why I arent going to study 3D'ing and its arts, thats because I am little worried if it will stop wroking or such, maybe the hall industry fall down to the ground one day... You never know... But I personaly doesnt believe that, but I do not wish to take the chance... After all its nearly all the same, and a home education is as good as a school one... Its how I hard work for it! Thank you... Have Fun! :D
  15. Not necesserily. Developing from scratch means more testing and longer development cycle. If you get an engine, which was around for a while, chances are you will need to debug less code, as well as there possibly will be forums and mailing lists to get help and check on reported bugs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Please also remember the fact which is... A game is only a ''Game'' when it haev something no other have made... Like if there comes a new form of Game systems you bid it might get super Popular faster then an old used Engine... I think... "
