  1. The double-bladed lightsaber is a completely overused weapon in KOTOR. After some extensive digging I've discovered that only two Jedi have EVER used this weapon: Darth Maul and Exar Kun. So why is it that I encounter a group of Sith Apprentices on Tatooine and one of these lowly novices is wielding the blade in question? Because it's easy to capitilize on the gimmik and appeal of the double-bladed lightsaber. I know, I know, I'm reading too far into the whole thing right? Nitpicking, right? Wrong. KOTOR is supposed to be based in the Star Wars universe. That means that the rules of said universe apply. So the use of this weapon should be restricted. I mean if you have to use it, it should be limited to use by the prestige classes and not just anyone. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE KOTOR. I've played through it more times than I care to admit, but c'mon!!! This IS supposed to be Star Wars!!!! The practice of just anyone using the double-bladed lightsaber flys in the face of everything being a Jedi or a Sith is supposed to be all about. These aren't toys, they're supposed to be deadly weapons that require great amounts of skill and practice to use, let alone master.
  2. I'm with you about reality taking a backseat from time to time but all I'm saying is this: Instead of the slashing animation you see with melee wepons, they should replace it with a cutting animation for the lightsaber. I am by no means saying that I want to see the lightsaber cutting through walls and floors and God knows what, but if you've gotta get through the door and you have a lightsaber, then why not?
  3. In KOTOR I constantly found myself wondering why I was forced to try to pick locks or slash at doors when I had a perfectly good lightsaber in hand. What about cutting the door open a la Episode I? All it would really take is an animation showing the Jedi cutting through the door and once he was done, the door could react as if the lock had been picked. They could even make it so that it took more time to cut through the door depending on the "strength" of the door in question. Additionally, they could make it so that once the Jedi doing the "cutting" starts, he/she is comitted to the act and if the party should be ambused, it would be up to his/her companions to defend the Jedi until the door is opened. I really feel this would add an extra layer of realism to the game and help players feel like they're actually playing as Jedi.
  4. Yeah, I see your point. I would be difficult to flesh out a believable ending where you don't side with either light or dark. Still if there were a way to do it, it would add a whole new way to play through the game. I played through KOTOR countless times using countless combinations, light male, dark female ect. but to be able to play a grey or neutral character would allow even more replayability. Maybe not something to do on your first or second time through, but gives you a reason to come back for more once you have played through as light and dark.
  5. That's just what I'm talking about. I think that you should be able to play in the grey area all the way through and get an ending specifically designed for the grey character. Despite what others think, this DOES go along with the star wars universe as there were jedi who were more grey than light or dark (ie Qui Gon)
  6. (Just finished my statue to the almighty Spellmar.... I just hope its enough. don't want to feel the wrath of Spellmar!!!!) It would be cool to join with some Mandalorian Raiders and help them slaughter local settlers.
  7. Right....right..... ALL HAIL SPELLMAR THE ALL POWERFUL AND ALL KNOWING!!!!!!!!!
  8. Does anybody really give a rat's ass what spellmar has to say anyway?
  9. You Know what I mean! Why can't you stay neutral towards the force and play through the game on a path that's designed for that? I think it would add a high replay value to the game.
  10. I agree with what you said about making the Lord of the Sith actually worthy of his title UNLIKE Malak, but I'm not sure how realistic it is to expect the final battle to span over different locations. Given the restrictions of the game engine, the best they could do is have the guy you're fighting run away and you have to chase him like Malak did in the Leviathan in KOTOR, and lets face it, chasing him around felt tedious and unecessary.
  11. Does this information really warrent a sticky? No it doesn't.... Glad someone else is paying attention
  12. The world isn't dark or light, good or evil... for the most part it's just shades of grey. There should be a 3rd story path for the character that wishes to remain neutral toward the force. Let that character draw his/her power from both sides, at a greater cost. Just my two cents worth. (and yes I realize that I just posted a thread about this, but for some reason my pc froze when I submitted the 1st post and it didn't show up so I re-posted only to find the 1st appear afterward. Sorry guys)
  13. I'd really like have to ability to develop the main character in a way that he is not dark or light, (ie Jolee) but a mix of both. Have 3 paths w/3 different outcomes. This way you could create a Jedi that draws his power from both sides. (At a greater cost of course)
  14. What a horrible obscene idea. A saberwhip would make a mockery of the lightsaber, the ultimate melee wepon in the sw universe. I don't mean to be a jerk or anything, but really people....
