Rebelstar: Tactical Command (from the original X-Com guys) and Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis are must-buys for the GBA. There is no doubt whatsoever if you dig turn-based, tactical games. Buy them now.
Besides those 2, there's:
Advance Wars
Advance Wars 2
Riviera
Metroid Fusion
the Fire Emblem games (already mentioned)
and Mother 3 (although it's not in English yet)
"I rather have a complete and polished game when it is released. I say delay the game 6 months if necessary. I don't want another KotOR 2."
I agree completely when it comes to the single-player game. Whether or not there's a DM client has 0% influence on me buying it, though.
I have a game called "Girlfriend/Not A Girlfriend" on my cell phone. In this game, I call this particular NPC and she yells at me and tells me not to bother her. She then calls me back 2 minutes later and tells me she misses me and wants me to come over. Later, she complains about how stupid I am and then talks about getting married. It's a fun yet confusing game. Probably my favorite.
I wouldn't have used the SS comparison, but I guess it's sort of fair. Obviously, the level of presentation and flexibility are far below that of SS.
Here's the demo for the first game. Keep in mind it's a few years old so I don't know how similar the newest game will be.
101 Airborne demo
I'm surprised Panther's Conquest of the Aegean isn't out yet. It supposedly went into final testing like 4 months ago.
You might want to have a look at All American: 82nd Airborne. Should be out somewhat soon.
I just installed HOI2: Doomsday and Alpha Centauri to add to all the other games on my HD (GalCiv2, Land of Legends, Bull Run, Avernum 4, Geneforge 3, Hammer & Sickle, Fate, and so on).
"combat is of the simpliest nature as to be boring and unthinking"
"overglorified dungeon crawl"
"There is absolutely no role-playing"
"the owner is a Bioware fanboy"
Hmm, I wonder if these statements are related somehow.
Hellride is playing this weekend. It's Mike Watt (Minutemen, firehose), Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction, Porno For Pyros), and Peter DiStefano (Porno For Pyros) doing nothing but Stooges covers. The venue this time is a tacky strip joint. Gotta love it.
