John asked me to jump in here and give some advice if I can. Tips for writing and indie CRPG: 0. What is the goal of the game you are writing? For fun, profit, or experience to get in the game industry? 1. Identify your platform, tools, and resources you have to work with. Be realistic. Most indie developers do not have a lot of resources to work with, and that is okay as long as you are prepared for that. 2. What can you do, and who do you need to help with the rest? If you are not a programmer, you will probably need one or need to learn how to program. If you are not a designer, you will need to find one or work on becoming one. If you are not an artist, you may need to find one. You need to develop your skill set, whatever that may be. 3. Keep your goals realisitc. The best you can probably hope for is 1 to 3 like-minded individuals who will be willing to help in thier free-time. You will not be able to create World of Warcraft of Baldur's Gate with 3 people. You can however still create a game rich on content and creativity. 4. People willing to help you...well, your best bet is your own friends. I was lucky enough to have friends that were like-minded and very talent artists and programmers. If for whatever reason your friends can't or aren't interested in helping you, there are numerous indie game developer forums out there where you may find people willing to help. 5. I can't stress this enough, keep your goals realistic. Depending on the size of your game you want to make, it may take 6 months to 2 years working on your free-time to make. You will still have family, friends, and a life to lead outside of this, so plan accordingly, and be realistic. 6. Finally, the best alternative may be to just get an involved witha n already exisiting indie game that is looking for help. It might be a better way to get your feet wet and to learn more about it. I know this are kind of vague, but I can answer more specific questions if you have them.

Ask again after the game has been out for a couple of weeks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OH OH ! John, uh...hmm. I can't think of a question, I just wanted to be a part of all the excitement. Also, CONGRATS John!

We have xbox elves that take care of all that. Seriously, we have an xbox sitting on our desks that are hooked up to the network. We can compile a xbox debug version of the game with vc.net on our desktops. We then run our newly compiled debug version on the xbox and 'attach' to that process with VC.net.

Those screenshots are *kind of* misleading as the armor doesn't quite look like that anymore. That was an early pass at the armor from quite a while ago. -
Amnesia creeps back into the news again
AnthonyD replied to kumquatq3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The character does not have amnesia, though he/she may be a bit groggy after coming to. Here is the deal, the 'character' knows who they are, it is *YOU* the player that doesn't know who the 'character' is. Make sense? Didn't think so. When you pick up a brand new book to read, assuming the main character doesn't actually have amnesia, how much do you know about the character at page 1? Probably not a whole lot. Does this mean the character has amnesia? No. -
I dont think anyone in the office has even SEEN episode 3 yet. Maybe some people on the lucas arts side, but that is pure speculation on my side.

Well, that link makes it hard to tell. For exmaple, the old Atton looked similar to the New Atton, though the New Atton looks much better. I can only tell you that based on that small picture, Mira looks the same or similar.
-
Does anyone have a picture of the old one?
-
That is all Lucas Arts, not OE. Sorry if that sounds like a dodge.
-
I honestly dont know what glitches you are talking about. Can you elaborate?
-
Really? Are you sure? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was hoping you could answer that <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Some would say that I just did. *Jedi hand wave*
-
Really? Are you sure?
-
Not trying to dodge here, but I honestly don't know. I know your alignment affects the party members, but as to restrictions on party members joining based on alignment? That is a designer question.
-
I don't know what you are talking about. You have to be more specifc (in a vague sort of way) and maybe even include some examples.
-
Absolutely, we do both. Hahahaha. Seriously, in 'idea' that manages to reach us we at least take into consideration. After all, we are making the game for YOU. Honestly though, at some point you have to cut bait and realize that there are a never ending stream of good ideas and you simply cannot implement them all.
-
More than one, less than a million. Hehehe, sorry for being dodgy but you guys know we can't answer specific questions about things like that. Has to be vague and unassuming in order for us to make a comment
-
Well, I think the answer to this has been guessed already. We are all working really hard.
-
I can't tell you a whole lot about the schedule. There are many aspects of that of which I am completely oblivious to. I know everybody is working hard.
-
Oooh, I like being pandered to.

Computer Programmers vs Videogame Programmers
AnthonyD replied to Tyrell's topic in Developers' Corner
I would think the answer would be supply and demand. The demand for working in the gaming industry is quite high while the supply of game industry jobs is quite small. Since the supply of game industry professionals are much higher than the number of jobs for them, the wages fall. If the day comes when the demand for game industry jobs exceeds the supply of game industry professionals, the wages will rise to attract more people to the industry. Ultimately, you need to work doing what will make you happy. I pursued a career in the gaming industry because that is what I am passionate about. I wake up every morning EXCITED to go to work. I have so much fun doing what I am doing that I don't even notice the time. Before I know it I have put in a 12 hour day and I have to force myself to go home.
