  1. I'll say that I generally don't enjoy MMO's. I've played WoW, Planetside, and City of Heroes each for a decent amount of time, and enjoyed them, but always dropped out after my first 6 month subscription ran out. I am really hooked on WAR though. The RVR content is just so much fun. The entire MMO really does a great job with PVP combat, the public quests spice up PVE in pretty interesting ways as well. The TF2 + MMO feel of WAR gives me the feeling that I'll really stick with this game for quite a while. Anyone who enjoys competitive games, even if you normally don't like MMO's, might want to look into this one.
  2. But then again, the dubbed anime gets played on multiple networks, online, and on DVDs, where people are going to likely see at least a whole episode. Compare that to people hearing a snippet of someones voice on a commercial... As far as big names doing video games, I would argue those are as scarce as the big names dubbing anime. If you take out the GTA series and Miyazaki films, both sides get very short very fast. Back on topic, our VO actors are awesome.
  3. I guess you've lied your entire life in the US then? Remember that Thorton is an international superspy. In most countries you can't find bullets lying next to the cabbage at every Wal-Mart in town. In Sweden, bullets are under exactly the same strict supervision as weapons. Hard to come by. Mike doesn't go to Sweden.
  4. Warhammer Online Dead Space Rock Band 2 NX2: Storm of Zehir Demigod
  5. Most games do use some C, C++ or C#. That being said, the languages are not that different from Java, and learning good coding practices and object oriented principles will help you a great deal.
  6. Dan Rubalcaba was at PAX with us, we had an extra spot, and Dan is a gameplay programmer on AP, so he added a lot to our conversation.
  7. All martial arts are combat systems. Some just have a bunch of flowery stuff in there to bring in the little kids, while some were actually used to kill people in actual martial situations. Krav Maga is just more of the latter.
  8. Good stuff. MMA is the best martial arts to use if you're ever in a real fight. I know this guy who's on the SWAT team that practices BJJ. I'm hoping to go to the police academy in January, and maybe later on I'll practice soem MMA. There's no way I'd want to use Kali in a real fight. I'd get my ass kicked, lol. Actually, MMA style fighting is really only good in a one of one fight, or when you have someone to watch your back. Fighting multiple people, ground fighting is very dangerous, and likely to get you stomped on by your opponents friends when the jump in. Enjoy the police academy.
  9. Look at this desk. This is the desk of a psychopath. Where are the executive stress toys, the family photos, the pencil holder? Come on, Obsidian, would a potted plant kill you? Maybe you just don't know who's desk that is.
  10. I seriously hope that's inaccurate. Teaching ground fighting to people who will very likely have handguns or knives and will be fighting people armed the same way is a horrible idea.
  11. I'll look into these more, but my first response is beware of people who can brag up on some sort of secret training they received that just happens to make their book or movie (or maybe even video game) that much more interesting or purchasable.
  12. Points me towards those documentaries. They sound awesome.
  13. You don't think of spies choking people? Really? What spies have you been watching? Krav Maga also does have plenty of knees and elbows, just for the record. Most special forces and agency guys are not shown any one style. The CIA gets very, very little martial training. I was hanging out with a freshly recruited CIA person (completely by chance at a wedding) and the people that have combat training usually bring it in from their previous experience. I've trained with people that were going off to train marines after they worked with us, and they explained that the marines have very simple training, even more slimmed down than Krav Maga or any "full" martial arts style, and they have experts come by to help them improve aspects of their skills.
  14. I'd love to give you guys info, but it's SEGA's call what gets shown and to who.
  15. I may or may not have put a reinforced choke on Alvin earlier today.
  16. We have a number of people on the team who are also active martial artists, and we've had plenty of really impressive martial artists from outside come in and do mo-cap work.
  17. It also turns out they faked some of the fireworks.
  18. He's done a lot more than that. Look him up. He's rad. Fryda is also doing a bunch of our sound work, especially in the realm of effects and Voice Over processing. Having most of our audio work handled in-house is freaking awesome.
  19. Cougars, on the other hand, are really good at ambushing. They buy you a drink, make you feel all young and strong, then... Or did you mean the wild cat? Uhhh... yeah, me too...
  20. Not that most action and fighting games play pretty poorly on a PC. Any game that requires the controls to input gestures to execute actions don't work on PC. Tiger Uppercuts are really hard through WASD. In the same realm, games that requires lots of complex movements and timed presses are really better when a player has a limited amount of inputs to worry about, and probably better on a controller. Games that want precision are easier with a mouse and keyboard. This entire argument is pretty silly since PC's can now have a 360 contoller hooked up, and the 360 (and I think the PS3) have adapaters to support a mouse and keyboard.
  21. As the cinematic designer, I'm of course glad the scenes are running smoothly, but I'm a little sad that the bar has been set so low that this is considered something noteworthy, and not something assumed as the baseline of functionality.
