character creation/customization...
Tigranes replied to TheRallykiller's topic in Dungeon Siege III: General Discussion
I find it easiest to think of it as a Diablo, really. There was no harm in not being able to play a male Sorcerer because that was never the point of the customisation. I don't know how it will sit with their desire to do more/better storytelling in an ARPG though. -
He's so good he's also got golden bells attacheed to the shoes, and a string orchestra as his retinue.

Montage? MONTAGE??

I seem to recall at some point that they did say Radiant AI was too crazy and pretty much creating scrapheaps of entire towns. I'm not sure whether it was never going to work the way they hyped it, whether it did but then they toned it down too much, or whatever, but "Radiant AI" as we saw it was, well, normal AI you see in most open world games.

Fair enough - I probably took it in too general a sense. Re: photo editing, you only have to look at the last US presidential election for blatant manipulation. -

Nulb? NULB! Clearly we need some killing going on to control the amorous impulses in our female party. -
It's actually an interesting exercise going back at the earliest Oblivion previews (in 2004). It's not entirely an indulgence in cynicism - a lot of the optimistic stuff they talked about very early on was realised. The game's environment did look good (even if the art direction was not imaginative), they delivered a more visceral feel in combat, stealth was improved, and so forth. Of course, we are also taught some hard lessons about believing stuff like...

I wouldn't get excited about good looking NPCs just yet. Oblivion's early previews had the same thing where they showed one or two beautiful looking NPCs - whether it was plain photoshop or separately rendered models or whatever, it really had nothing to do witht he reality. Edit: to be fair, I can't find an example now it's been so long - but in Obv's case real screenies seemed to appear a few months later. Certainly not representative of faces as a whole but certainly in-game. I just wish I could find what was inside... (Yes, GameInformer do a deal where they do lavish front cover previews of every recent TES game).

Sorry, but that's ignorant and bigoted nonsense, unless you address it to that select fanatical minority that hogs all the news headlines. It's fun to just sit and imagine most Christians or other religious groups are filled to the head with mushroom gas like that, but it's neither productive nor logical. edit: In general terms I guess the expression is - if a man believes in Science and not faith, but supplements his distaste of faith by believing in the worst of the faithful, then isn't he putting his faith in unscientific evidence in order to buttress his belief in Science? Oy vey. -
The offensiveness of saying "women invite rape" doesn't make the core issue of hypersexualisation go away though. It's a pity that comments like that interlink the two to the benefit of nothing. Population decrease might be good but if it happens in the way its happening now it's going to be a massive, massive headache. Not just social welfare, but we'll have a massive hangover coming down from the centuries-high of population growth, labour growth and consumer growth.

Eastern European RPGs - which is the least horrible?

Risen. -
Try fraps or your preferred 3rd party app for images. As for dialogues, the less I see the better but it's up to you/others. I don't remember the giant chess field, what was that about? Throwback to Durlag?

It's only a matter of time before DLCs and mods collide, btw. One day some people will say, "this NPC mod is so much better than the NPC DLC, screw this", and then some men in black will say, "this situation, it is not good." I feel very happy with ignoring any and every DLC until I finish a game and think "I wish I had more content".

Every once in a while somebody pops up with the good old "OT God was a bastard", which in full context is about as accurate as "hey Allah wants you to bath in the blood of your enemies". Edit: It's not. -

No, in earlier previews they mainly used the controller to show off the game, and that kb/mouse was still being implemented. -

Yeah, more screenies would work well. Man, TOEE really sells itself short with the fugly UI and the opening area, the game actually looks really nice as it goes on. -
And that's why you'll never be a millionaire, entrerix.

PR seems pretty meh so far, in that the only truly clearly defined image we have of what type of game DS3 will be is.... co-op Diablo. Which I think is awesome, but after Alpha Protocol I'm anxious to see that proper work is done to make sure DS3 has a clear identity and people don't disappoint thesmelves. As pointless as this is, it's actually pretty important in this kind of RPG. -
Can we keep personal attacks and random judgments down, this is past the level of good-humoured jabs for everyone involved. Move on.

I have no problem with this guy being mocked, of course he deserves all that and more. I just don't feel good about us engaging in the act of mocking - condemn his actual criminal acts, but what good comes out of mocking his appearances? Does it really make us feel better? *shrug* The 'safe' comment is a more general one, about how we all talk about lookism and condemn it, but when it's socially 'safe' to mock someone for their looks we relish it. Anyway, the media seemed to have tried the familiar "HE IS DESCRIBED BY HIS ACQUAINTANCES AS A VIDEO GAMER", but this time common sense seems to have prevailed, i.e. reading Mein Kampf is probabyl slightly more relevant... -
I guess it's just a coincidence that you're asking for this just after Shryke posted, right?

I don't think Volo is being disingenious - I believe that he does rate NWN OC. In fact, I think hell would be playing NWN OC co-op with Volourn, who will be enjoying the adventure immensely. That said, the best LPs are made by eminently mockable take-yourself-too-seriously-dude? campaigns, so NWN OC fits perfectly!

But only two classes, grom? People will burst arteries! Basement rooms will run red with blood!

Ability tree looks better than DAO, we'll see about the skill design. A lot of the UI this time round really seems to be inspired by console JRPGs - a Vagrant Story Inventory, for instance. Not a big deal if usability on PC is fine, but I hope those full screen menus don't mean 2 second swoops & fades every time I want to access.
