Journalism and sexism in the games industry

I subscribe to at least "ignorance is bliss". -
I have to be honest, when Boyega's face jumps into frame, all I was thinking was the combing of the desert from Spaceballs. I half expected him to go "WE AIN'T FOUND ****!"

http://twodashstash.com/2014/11/opinion-opening-the-gates-and-gamergate/ Well sourced and argumented article about a writers journey from neutral to Pro-GamerGate. -
That seems dangerous.

Ditto. The hilt blades look dumb but overall I like it. Well, except for me not being able to unhear Smaug in whoever is narrating this.

So you wish the worst on both sides of the GamerGate debate, but the Nazis were just misguided? -
So, DayZ raised the price 15% the day before the sale. Then discounted it 15%. Thoughts?

Yours is better. Contains more the violent harassment for anyone to see. -

A sequel here behind the link for profanity: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3hZMu3CEAEFJz0.png:large Claire Schumann left twitter after a string of bullying related to this, deactivating her account, a literal example of a woman being bullied off the internet by misogynist threat culture... coming from GamerGate opponents. And then a third part: Congratulations, GG opponents. You have proven that there is a toxic misogynist culture online. And you're the perpetrators. I am absolutely sick of this and I have reported every single one of Randi Harpers tweets as cyberbullying. -

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/122967-Brenda-Romero-Resigns-IGDA-Post-Over-GDC-Party-UPDATED Related. Co-chair of IGDA Women resigned because IGDA hosted sexist parties, essentially. True patrons of diversity, those guys. EDIT: Did you see Ernest W. Adams' comment in the comment section to the article you linked? "You were a critic of our system before you joined, so all your criticism of how it was when you were there is invalid," the man is a two-faced snaked. -
Could you gimme a source? I just moved, I don't have TV or a newspaper yet (and I'm debating getting either) and I must have missed it on the internet. Most of the time politicians respond with strong condemnation, not like this mayor apparently did. Anyway, yeah for some reason some of the ethnic groups (moluccans and moroccans specifically) in the Netherlands are seemingly pro-segregation. When I was looking for a new apartment it wasn't that uncommon for me to find qualifiers like "This apartment is only available for those with strong ties to the local community". I don't know if that reflects upon the ethnic groups or on how they are treated by society. I think it reflects on those ethnic groups at the moment, because they also can't stand each other and they tend to have... altercations. Still, nothing compared to gang wars and ghettos.

Jij is the informal form of you. The formal is u.

He's got a bit of a point on that one. Some of the best games aren't so much "fun" as they are engaging. I doubt he means that, though. -

I don't think it's productive for Obs to comment on it. The climate is too unforgiving. -
I think you're referring to "u".

I cannot unhear it.

I don't think Anita deserved to have such attention. -
This a thousand times. Steam messes with my asthma something fierce.

I'm better at listening to German than I am reading it, when someone speaks to me I can usually make out most of their general gist. I'm not seeing the similarity between Dutch and English though since Dutch is obsessive about grammar and the entire English language is an exception to its own grammar, but let's not hijack the thanksgiving thread. :D
-
Thank you for explaining the joke. EDIT: Also wtf how is it some dutch can't understand German worth a damned? Your language is literally the result of German and english having sex! The similarities are precisely why. I failed German in high school but I'm straight A's for English and Latin and passed French without trying (though to be fair, I forgot pretty much every little bit of French that I knew because high school French class is "remember all these words and phrases" and not "learn how the french language works in any way") but when I try to speak German my brain gets confused with Dutch and a use the wrong words, the wrong grammar etc. Although I can find my way around Berlin well enough, so I guess it's passable.
-
My high school german is a little rusty, but that's just thursday isn't it?
-
Here I am in Europe, eating a burger and having no special holiday to celebrate. Happy Thanksgiving to you Americans and whoever else celebrates it at this particular time.

Can I pry and ask how much you shelled out for this beast? I'm in the market as it were.

https://www.reddit.com/r/KotakuInAction/comments/2nkb5d/former_aaa_developer_explains_how_the/ Badly written but fascinating read about how journalists affect you as a game developer, most of which jives with my personal experience.
