  1. About 10k. Actually, GameFront was part of the same budget cuts and their EiC appeared on TotalBiscuits GG roundtable and was mostly supportive of it. Again, how on earth is this a victory for GG?
  2. Yeah, I didn't catch that one either. I've been by and large supportive of the Escapist.
  3. Greg Tito is leaving, but due to budget cuts. It's not just the Escapist, but GameFront and GameTrailers as well. Defy Media, who owns them, slashed a bunch of budgets. It's not related to Yahtzee's article or GG as far as I can tell. Thankfully, the lovely Janelle Bonnano seems to still be EIC of GameFront. EDIT: Although this article makes a compelling argument that I'm totally wrong: http://www.alienpickle.com/2015/01/defy-media-cuts-staff-at-escapist.html
  4. Theme Hospital is free on Origin right now.
  5. "Nobody is trying to ban those words." In the same way nobody is trying to take away video games?
  6. Huh, I stand corrected. Thanks for that. Man those two look alike, though. Is there only one kind of republican?
  7. Yeah could be, I suppose people who live there know best. And it was definitely Mitt Romney who said that, so is he not the Mormon then? I forget.
  8. Yeah, as an outside observer my impression has always been that Obama is saving that country from self-destruction - I'm always weirded out by Americans claiming otherwise, but I figure they live there so they must know best or something? I remember when Bush was in office that literally every single thing the European news reported about him was face-slappingly stupid and the same things counted for McCain when he was running and... who was the other guy Obama ran against? The Mormon dude who made fun of the poor and believed euthanasia was mandatory for the elderly in my country? I can't recall, but he was a real piece of work. If that guy had won that country would have been down the toilet in a year. He would have probably pressed a button and nuked New York by accident. What an absolute tosser that guy was, I think the fact that his campaign got so far is the most damning evidence of the decline of the American people that exists. EDIT: Note, I'm not saying Europe's faring any better. Just pointing it out. A sizable part of my country voted for who is essentially a Captain Ersatz of Hitler last election. We're all in the gutter.
  9. Well, if we want to be specific, this is a derivative work based on those originals. It can't really be piracy - but since it's still so close, I find it morally close enough to it for me to be concerned. If we think about breaking the law, this guy offering his derivative work up is definitely copyright infringement but that doesn't reflect on me.
  10. I wonder if it counts as piracy... regardless, I downloaded it - I saw all three Hobbit films in theaters and own the DVDs that have come out thus far and bought some merchandise (posters) so I think I support the artists - and am watching it now. Couple of odd glitchy moments where people refer to things that sound ominous, couple of weird shots (who is that female elf fleeing along with the dwarves in lake town!? she's not appeared at all! wait, why is Smaug made of gold now?!) but overall, it's a MUCH better experience.
  11. But women are oppressed for their feminine parts. They are victims of patriarchal society and should be protected so these depictions of them exploting their femininity must be censored! But seriously, I agree with you. It's things like this why I hitched my wagon to GG. First and second wave feminists fought long and hard to reclaim their femininity, sexuality and the right not to have to cover up (such as bra burning) and if these women have no problems with modeling topless then they should do so. If they can make money out of the fact that men are obsessed with their bags of fat with nipples (don't get me wrong, I love boobs, but I often wonder why ) then power to them exploiting the stupidity of men (and lesbians, don't want to be heterosexist). How is a woman who is confident and comfortable with her body a negative thing because of how men react to it? What is the difference in "objectification" between a topless model and a model in a bikini anyway? This is just the Muslim argument for Burkas, women must be covered up so men don't get the oppertunity to be awful about it. *flies away because he's trying not to write giant walls of text in this thread anymore as they are time consuming*
  12. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/columns/extra-punctuation/12882-The-PC-Master-Race-Discussion-Political-Correctness-vs-Language-?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=all Yahtzee weighs in on the "PC Master Race" discussion and also briefly touches on GG. He claims both sides are mostly stupid (honestly, somewhat true), though his actual points seem to support some things we've been saying, specifically regarding free speech, thought policing and how games journalism should be about games.
  13. Okay, now that one actually does really piss me off.
  14. I laughed way too much at this. What did he say? He laughed at traditional games press saying YouTubers are on their way out, I asked a rethorical question about who the biggest Steam Curator is, and he responded with "all goobergater sockpuppets, of course".
  15. Oh yeah, I agree. I've convinced my share of people that things are not what they seem. Also, TotalBiscuit responded to a tweet of mine. SENPAI NOTICED ME.
  16. I don't think Movie Bob has had enough experience with masculinity to make that call, honestly. As for GG not getting it's message across, that's sadly true. I've been in several discussions with people that claimed I supported or benefited from the actions of harassers. Neither are true, since I abhor the harassers, they make sure we can't actually talk about the thing we want to talk about and ruin our PR. The worst thing is, there have been several instances of harassment that were confirmed to have come from anti-GG (including the douche who posted child pornography on 8chan to "prove" that 8chan hosted child pornography) or third party trolls like the GNAA, so really there's very little options to stop it. Even if we were able to shut up every GG crazy, it wouldn't matter.
  17. He's grown into his own but a lot of his earlier parts, even post-Bill and Ted, had him unable to act his way out of a wet paper bag. The Matrix, Point Break, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Watcher... he's extremely wooden in all of them. The Matrix is kinda forgivable since it fits, but the others not so much. He's a lot better now.
  18. What If, one of those quirky indie romcoms starring Daniel Radcliffe and Zoey Kazan. Good dialogue, decent acting, boring resolution. It was enjoyable but not memorable.
  19. Somebody actually told me that and meant it. I kid you not.
  20. For the first time in years I visited a KFC and the resulting stomach ache is excruciating.
  21. Holy hell. I had a brief argument with the guy when he was here (I don't recall what about) and my argument at the time was torn apart in the space of a paragraph, but now I see he was going easy on me.
