On a less Volo note, are any of you aware of Adam Henrique? He's a Devil's rookie center playing along side Parise and Kovy and man has he been tearing it up. If Nugent-Hopkins ever hits a slump of some time Henrique could challenge him for ROTY. A lot of people who don't watch the games credit his successes to playing along side the likes of Parise and Kovalchuk but coming from someone who hasn't missed a game this season I'm telling you he's the real deal.

And, now adays espciially, 36 still means possibly 4-5 years left.
I never said anything about the longevity of his career.
Parise and Kovalchuk should be or are approaching their prime. Elias is not in his prime. That is the point I was making.

Patrik Elias becomes the all time leading scorer of the Devils tonight, and the assist came from his old buddy Petr Sykora! I love Patty and he's meant the world to the Devils, our best, most consistent forward for the last 15 or so years. We retired Niedermayer's number the game before this one and it's only a matter of time before 26 is up there in the rafters as well.
On the downside, Elias had 2 goals tonight putting him at 12 for the season...That's the most on the team. 36 year old Patrik Elias is leading the Devils in goals on a team with Parise and Kovalchuk, not the best news ever. However, Kovy usually picks it up in the latter half of the season so we'll see if he goes on that 30 goals in 40 game streak that he's capable of.

I think my favorite thing to do is sit on my porch now and watch the sun set. There is something so dramatic about the change between night and day that you never notice unless you sit down and really watch it. The way the bird calls change as the night birds come out and the day birds nest up. Crows change their caws right around sunset. Sounds seems to carry better, you can hear dogs barking on far distant farms, owls that roost down on the riverbanks, barges on the Mississippi. Then after the last bit of orange has bled from the sky you can see stars by the tens of thousands, as well as jupiter and saturn and mars making their way across the sky. It is the most amazing show and it is put on just for me every night.
I've gotta tell you, I will never live in a city again.
Where are you in the US (if you don't mind me asking)?

Well... apparently I could make it up. Because it's finals week my professor is forcing people to turn in their exams in general, which she usually doesn't do, so showing up late wouldn't be an issue.
Feel pretty good about the exam actually.

I don't mind the actual realignment but the way they are doing the playoff races/playoffs is horrible. Some fo the conferences are going to have some of the better teams in the league misisng the playoffs. With 16 teams making it, that should simply not be the case. It should be conference winners + top 12 teams by point period. Therefore winning your conference matters but the better teams get in.
Yeah, agreed. I think the Devils are gonna have a rough few seasons after Elias and Brodeur retire

O RLY? he certainly wans't in Crosby's shadow that year he was dominating the league or when he won the playoff MVP. I remmeber at thsoe times people were claiming that Malkin was better than crosby and Ovechkin. He's in Crosby's 'shadow' right now because crosby is playing like abeats and was seriously injured and justc ame back. Plus, Kanadians ar every protective of hockey and are extremely bigotyed.

Only a handful of defenseman would be even worth consideirng that deal and I doubt their teams are gonna trade them. Malkin is fine though. Why bash him? He's not even my fave top player but why the hatin on the playoff MVP?
Malkin is probably my favorite player of all time, along with Patrik Elias.
I want Malkin to be traded because I think he's capable of having a team built around him, and he's been in Crosby's shadow too long in Pittsburgh.

Watching Panthers/Devils game right now. It was ugly at the end of the 1st with NJ leading 3-0 but the cats have battled back to 3-2. They've got a good team this year. For a change.
AAAAAAAND the devils can't hold a 3-0.
Parise needs to pick it the f**k up.

I was just curious because I haven't seen him in the line up and thought he was injured or something.
Devils are 7-3 in the their last 10 games...Think we'll be gunning for the top 3 spots in the conference sooner than later
