  1. Playoff prediction time?

Rangers v Senators: Rangers in 6.

Bruins v Capitals: Bruins in 6.

Panthers v Devils: Devils in 5.

Penguins v Flyers: Pens in 7.

Canucks v. Kings: Canucks in 6

Blues v Sharks: Sharks in 7

Coyotes v Chicago: Chicago in 5

Nashville v Detroit: Detroit in 7

  2. Sykora wasn't a 'main'player on that jersey club. He was an also ran. That was Brodeur, Stevens and the defensive system that one the cup. I know more about hockey than any Devilm fan does that is for darn sure

"more about hockey than any Devil fan"? what does that even mean? I've actually PLAYED the game for 18 years (some of which was played under some of the best coaches in the North East). Besides, you're a Rags fan, you haven't even seen the Stanley Cup since '94.

(and Sykora was the Devils 3rd leading scorer in 2000. Right behind Scott Gomez whose career was later ruined by the Rags, lol).

  3. Wher's art rosses? Where's his harts/ Where's his 100 point seasons? Where's his stanley cups where he was one of the main players? Where's his future HOF induction?

The gall you ahve to think that Sykora is on Jagr's level in any capacity is HILARIOUS. It's as HILARIOUS as stupid Ranger fanboys who think that Torturechips is the best coach in the league.

    HAHAHAHA!!!

You're being stupid, I'm not saying Sykora is a better player than Jagr. I'm saying he had a better season. Jagr can still dominate games (and is therefore perhaps a more valuable player) but Sykora scored more goals than Jagr. And Sykora has a Cup where he was a "main player" (although the fact that you used phrase just shows you know little to nothing about hockey), from Jersey in 2000.

  4.

"I just think as far as hockey storyline goes, The Comeback Kid award goes to Sykora for sure. "

Nah. To comeback you have to be something. Sykora is just an average NHler.

He has more goals than Jagr LOL. And has played all 82 games, unlike fragile Jagr.

  5. Kind of pissed that Buffalo is out and Washington is in. I'd have loved to see the Craps miss the playoffs.

No offence to Guard Dog, but I was hoping both the Caps and Sabres would get in and Florida would miss the post season altogether.

Out of curiosity, why? How can anyone hate the Panthers? They've been so bad their entire franchise history that it's like wishing someone down on his luck who finally found a job that he lose it right away.

Panthers are just a boring team. I can't think of one player in their lineup that I would actually like to see win a Cup. Just one of those teams that has no redeeming qualities for me...I don't hate them, they're just so boring.

  6. Only because Jagr has won his art rosses, hart, stanley cups, and made his money. Plus, he is 1 million times the player Sykora is (Sykora is alright). But,t he bottom line is that NHL teams thoguht Jagr was no longer good enough to be in the NHl and that was 4 years ago. Jagr proved them wrong.

    No.

Jagr had a lot of offers from different NHL teams but went for the money. Tax-free money in KHL..

    http://sports.espn.g...tory?id=3473421

I'm not surprised he's doing so well in the NHL again. He was a point-per-game player in the KHL, and the KHL is more defensive than the NHL, believe it or not.

Yeah, like I said...Jagr was destined to have a decent season (at least) this year. People knew he could still play. The final word is this:

Sykora was CUT from the last NHL team he played for before he left for Europe, Jagr left on his own accord.

I understand Jagr is a better player than Sykora, I just think as far as hockey storyline goes, The Comeback Kid award goes to Sykora for sure.

  7. I could give two $%!#'s about MP DLC. In fact, bad as it is, I hope almost no one gets it. It's a blatant slap in the face. Sure it's free...I'm thinking most everyone is actually wondering...where's the end?

They are coming out with an expanded content pack for the ending ...

...the only question remains how much it actually adds. Cinematics and slideshows, likely. It doesn't sound like there will be additional gameplay or even dialogue options for the player.

Yeah that's what I was most worried about. The fact of the matter is I just hated the ending. I hated the fact that there wasn't an option for a super-happy 'Shepard rides into the sunset with his whole team alive and well' (even if it wasn't the canon I think it should have been an option) kind of thing and that sucks, but I feel dumb complaining about that. Adding extra cutscenes won't make me enjoy the ending anymore, but I accept what the ending was regardless of whether or not I hated it.

  8. . "Jagr was good too but everyone knew he could still play"

I disagree. NHL teams though Jagr was finished... 4 seasons ago. Rangers did not resign him because he wanted a 3 year contract and they felt he could not last long... that was 4 eyars ago. NHl teams thoguiht Jagr was dead. They were oproven wrong because NHL teams did not want the NHl ton be able brag about having the best hockey players in the world because a league with no jagr is a league that can't claim to be the best.

Put it this way, Jagr had teams looking for him to come back. He chose Philly. Sykora was lucky to scrape up a tryout. I just think Sykora had way more to prove than Jagr.

Also just realized Sykora actually has more goals than Jagr.

  9. Fans are stupid. This is fact. Heck, youc an't even really get multiple fans who both hate the ending to 100% agree on whyn they hate the ending. BIO's biggestw eakness has always been listening to the stupid internet fans. Their games would be much better if they simply ignored internet geeks.

  10. Sykora has lost a step or three. It will be interesting to see how he pans out with the Devils. His time in Edmonton wasn't much to write home about.

He looked solid in the pre-season. Had a pair of goals, skated well. I always forget that he's only (lol) 34. Which is old, but not ancient. I think he has a 20 goal season in him if he plays with one of Elias, Kovy, or Parise. We'll see though. I don't think he's in the opening night line up.

And a 20 goal season it was! Sykora got his 20th last night, I celebrated. Hard. This was a guy who was cut from the Wild 3 years ago, played in Europe...Everyone thought his NHL career was over. Get's a tryout contract with the Devils, impresses enough to sign a $450,000, one year contract...Winds up playing his 1000th game and getting 20 for the year. Best comeback of the year in my opinion. Jagr was good too but everyone knew he could still play...Sykora had something to prove and he did it.

  11. About to leave to see what could be my team's last ever home game. ;(

Prediction: Coyotes lose 3-2 and are swept by the Blue Jackets. Yandle (most overrated defenseman in the league) makes a bad pass directly to Rick Nash who promptly puts one over Smitty's glove.

At some point during the night, I cry.

Shame that they even were in Columbus to begin with because now you all have to suffer the loss of them leaving =[ I feel for you, man. If the Devils ever left New Jersey I don't know what I would do.

  12. Gretzky put up 92 in 1982 because he was a new-age player in an old-style league. The goalies weren't ready for him and I'd reckon Stamkos would light up any goalie in the league. With ease.

  13. Had Crosby not been injured that would have been another 50+ goal scorer, maybe more...Ovechkin lost Backstrom for some time this year and I think that certainly hurt his chances of hitting 40 or 50. Kovalchuk hasn't put up 40+ since his days in Atlanta because he's actually playing defense now and is backchecking. I think the interesting part is that the league doesn't seem to be any less high-scoring than it has been in recent years, it's just that the scoring is more balanced.

As for the 20 goal season...I think that's still a good benchmark for the term "goal scorer". It's not elite by any means, but it definitely shows you can shoot the puck.

  14. Devils clinch a playoff spot...And they're pretty solidified in the 6th spot so it looks like we'll be playing the Panthers. Half the teams in the playoff picture in the East are from one conference. Can't wait for the playoffs to start. Oh, and Petr Sykora is 1 goal away from a 20 goal season, I gotta say I don't think I've ever rooted for a single player to score a goal more than I am for Sykora right now. After an awesome career and then being thrown away by the Wild, leaving the NHL and making a comeback based on a training-camp tryout he's had an amazing season and is a huge part of the Devil's success.

  15. I think another one of the things that hurts ME3's replayability (besides the ending) is for those who like to make multiple play throughs to try different squad combinations. Because you're only limited to 6 companions (7 if you got the DLC character), it narrows down the options for trying out different combinations. And while ME1 only had 6 companions as well, where ME3 takes this one step further is the fact that the linearity of how some of the main quest stories plays out, you don't have access to all squadmates until over halfway through the game.

Two examples of this are Ashley/Kaiden and Tali. While you get to use Ashley/Kaiden up until the Mars mission right at the beginning of the game, they're laid up in the hospital until after the Cerberus attack on the Citadel. They're not available for a good portion of the first half of the game. And Tali doesn't join your team until after you reach the Geth/Quarian mission, which is well past the halfway point of the game.

So in effect, the only members of your squad that you have access to for the majority of the game are Liara, James, EDI, and Garrus. It also doesn't help that, IMO, EDI and James were incredibly boring characters, and Liara and Garrus you already know everything there is to know about them since they were in all three games (Garrus as a full squadmate for all three).

This was by far my biggest issue with the game until the last hour or so of it. I was really taken aback when I saw the squad selection screen and saw there was only room for 6 squadmates. I was hoping that we'd see the return of the more awesome ones (like Legion). I would have traded away Liara/Ashely/Kaiden/James/Edi for the chance to team up with Wrex/Thane/Legion.

  16. I'd say it's pretty amazing that a 19 year old d-man can step right into the NHL and have an impact.

I'm hoping the Avalanche don't make it to the playoffs. Maybe the Sharks can earn their spot instead.

And I read today that Taylor Hall from Edmonton, who's currently out with a concussion, is going to undergo surgery for a torn labrum. And his rehab is roughly 6 months long. Good to see the Oilers are already starting the 2012-2013 season with someone on the injured reserve.

    Yeah I read that too.

Sharks are my Western team so I hope they make the playoffs too.

  17. It's nice to see the Oilers string together a nice point streak at the end of the season, but they aren't doing themselves any favors in terms of the draft lottery.

I'm really hoping Ryan Nugent-Hopkins can earn the Calder trophy, as Edmonton has never had a rookie of the year.

If he would have been able to stay healthy all season long I don't think it would even be an issue.

Pulling for Adam Henrique from my Devils of course, but RNH had it on lock had he not been injured. If Colorado makes the playoffs, it will be largely due to Landeskog's play, so he has a huge chance at it also. It's unfortunate that Adam Larsson doesn't get more press coverage. Rookie d-man from NJ if you don't know him, he's been a top 4 defensemen for us all year and he's only 19. Doesn't get much more impressive than that seeing as how most dmen enter the league at 22-24 and even then have a hard time adjusting.

  18. So what about when a player leaves via free agency?

I agree with your loyalty sentiment, I don't like it when a team throws a player under the bus to drive value down. But with the Sharks I just see misguided attempts to improve a team that hasn't won a cup.

It's the same gamble Philly made by "trashing" Richards and Carter. It was an attempt to shake up the lineup to try something new. Seems to be working for the Flyers but the Sharks weren't as lucky.

    • 3 endings = destroy, control, and merge

The colours just represent the three different endings.

Why do people feel the ened to lie? It's embarassing.

Not all of us are entertained by bright pretty colors enough to consider those "endings".

  19. It's not like they tagged them with a wireless modem while they were sleeping under a bridge. They were offered money to complete a pretty simple task (and one that simply required their free time, which I assume they have a lot of).

Liberals, man. If you don't help the homeless you're a bad person. If you help the homeless you're a bad person.

  20. Hey Volo, how do you feel about Avery's New Jersey buddy David Clarkson having (what should amount to) a 30 goal season the same season that Avery becomes an unemployed hockey player? I've always thought Avery had a pretty good skill set, just no desire to put it to good use. Avery could have been the 40-50 points scorer that he was that one year if he didn't get so caught up in the BS.
