The reason the japanese attacked us was because we imposed an oil embargo against them AND because we were the only thing in the pacific that could have stopped them from setting up a grand empire. So they tried to hit the pacific fleet to turn us into a toothless tiger. They miscalculated and missed the carriers AND underestamated the industrial capacity of the united states. With Europe we weren't taught much... just a good guys kicked the bad guys in the behind with D-Day. Really the european war was more like the last few lines of Saga Begins "in the end some russians died, some ships blew up and some allies fried, alot of folks were chokin' the 3rd reich was broken" Dresden I don't know much more about than the fact that they napalmed it to hell and that the writer of Slaugherhouse Five kept harping on it... sigh... why we learn oh so much more about the depression and WWI than WW2 I don't know.

My wife and I have been playing the 14-day trial of CoV. I have noticed that, at least in the time that we've played, the CoX games seem to be fun, which is something that I definitely found lacking in WoW. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> it only gets better as you get more powerful I play on the same server as eldar (sometimes we play together but I let my acct drop and might or might not restart it for a month just to see what's new in I7) Honestly playing as a guy who can turn into a flying squid or a freaking crab is kinda fun!

That would be impossible as laws vary from region to region. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What you don't think we can agree on a game rating with N.Korea or lets say Pakistan? I'm mainly referring to either combining the American, british, and Euro ratings systems or somehow making it so that the games are defined sanly rather than "Ohhhh look a file on a disk that they didn't tell us about and it contains somthing that could be used to create somthing that could turn into a very sexual overture in the game... RATING M/AO!"

sure they were set up by the game companies... but we honestly don't know much else about how they work. Heck for all we know they could be forcing game makers to put hypnotic suggestions into the games to take over the world. My MAIN problem is that they seem to be bending more to the will of the paranoids who think that if we play various games we'll turn into perverts that go on school shootings. I would hope that the ESRB would think of a way to get those who know the game to put a rating on it themselves, give relavent points, and then essencially 'approve' the rating or modify it TO A DEGREE (unless of course you've got sombody claiming that a X rated item is really E for everyone...) or visa-versa. the whole reason that only 19 games are rated AO is because if it gets rated AO it cannot be sold in stores.. only via internet or other more "secure" (from children) sites. And I personally think that there should be a world wide board or rating system. It'd help moderate the insanity we see with oblivion, it'd remove it from political pressure from the national level, and it'd probably do better in terms of ratings overall. From a sales perspective this would be better because pretty much anywhere else in the world there is easily an more relaxed view of video games. but from the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if I have to buy all my (possible) kids games for them because the ESRB rating system becomes more like the Comics Code of America

it's advised by... I'm asking what the actual degrees that the ESRBoard has... are they pop psycologists... perhaps angry mothers... or even creationists. That's what I'm trying to get at. We have a rating system but we don't know who's doing the rating so we are incapable of knowing if theres a bias or political influence on the group (shivers at the thought of hillary clinton being put on there)

Who are the ESRB? I mean not in terms of what do they do. rather I'm asking what exactly they did to be put in charge of rating the fastest growing media of the era. Do they have ANY Idea what games are like other that what they see in a video or read? Are they an Apolitical body similar to the supreme court? many unanswered questions about a group that is trying to keep things "clean"

still if they did rerelease it, I'd be able to find it for less that 40 bucks

I couldnt find any stormwatch. As I said Ive read issue #1-8 of "The Authority" which were written by Ellis. In the first 1-4 they battle this Chinese dude called Gamorra and his army of cloned supermen, in #5-8 they battle an invasiona army from an alternate earth timeline. Pretty basic stuff. And they were not pro-active; the villains attacked, they hit back. The main reason why I dont like it is because not once during these eight issues was there any type of social interaction between the characters and almost no background stuff. I need to have a bit of "soap-opera" drama in my superhero comics, just beating up villains doesnt do it for me. No, Im not a snob. I like plenty of mainstream stuff like X-Men or Star wars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try the comic Outsiders. plety of soap opera stuff (one of the male leads is essencially a **** with a Y hormone). Even has Shift (a guy who can turn his boy into ANYTHING) sleeping with a android female (you gotta see it to understand.)

gary's mod is a mod that manupulates the envronment so you can create poser style work with the sourse engine... you can reskin say... alex so that her model appears to have no clothing... then you put her in a VERY sexual pose with gordon, the GMan, or any other member of the half life 2 cast and you've got an AO rated content that was created via mods...

given that gary's mod for Half Life plus some minor reskinning could turn it into a giant pixelated orgy... shouldn't half life 2 (the base program used to CREATE the mod) be rated AO by your idea SP?
