Fred Thompson will become the next President of USA
Calax replied to Meshugger's topic in Way Off-Topic
that's the point i've been trying to make, and why this is a problem you do not seem to comprehend. taks Except that you take the stance that sometimes it's ok... like when going to war, or domestic spying. -

except many things the government does would be considered illegal if any citizen did it. but because they are the government they get to do it. -
I have a friend who plays it, he says that it make the espianoge much better, and the game overall runs better. There are a few other changes (different scenario's, different unit models depending on your civ), and random events.

Such as? the income tax being considered stealing. That's an opinion that you stated as a fact. One mans trash is another mans treasure, Does that mean that all treasure is trash? -

GD has a fantastic way of making opinions look like facts. -

the thing is that while the population of humanity grows, the population of otherthings lessens -
UA gold gives you Hulk, Doom, and several others. The reputation is what will ultimately allow you to kick more ass than in any other of the Legends games. Your team will get better bonus' from each upgrade you put into your team. Everything from increasing the % of xp gained to damage done. the team isn't the comic book team (though if you put comic book teams together you get some nice bonuses) You ultimatly make your own team after I think the first or second boss fight.

Let me give you a scenario here Calax. Suppose you are walking down the street and you see a homeless guy sleeping on a bench. If you walked up to him and gave him a hundred dollars, that would be a pretty nice thing to do. You would probably feel pretty good that you did that right? But suppose instead of you giving the him money I pointed a gun at you and forced you to give me the hundred dollars. That is theft right? I took something from you that I did not earn. Now if I go over to the homeless guy and give him the hundred dollars I stole from you does that change the fact I stole it? Or to be even more accurate, if I stole the hundred dollars from you I could only give the homeless guy fifty dollars because I had to recoup the cost of the gun I used to steal the hundred from you. . And then the homeless guy thanks me for giving him money and gives you a dirty look for giving him nothing even though it is was ultimately your money in his pocket. That is how taxes work. Not quite... especially given that if you don't have taxes you don't have jack squat.. in your anology instead of you holding me up, then giving the other guy fifty, it'd be more of we'd all be languishing with him in the gutter because there would be no power, no water, no dams, no roads, no houses, no boats, no planes because each of these are either insured or partially owned by the government in almost all cases. The government also pays for Airports and such, and without an income tax it wouldn't have enough money to pass gas much less invade iraq. Also the government isn't giving the homeless guy money... just taking less or none at all from him. And aren't you the one who's always saying that Freedom isn't free and if we want to stay free we should pay our taxes so that our armies can invade little terrorist countries and we can spy on people that might or might not be terrorists? -
well... I think want people want is that if they are evil, they aren't the mustache twiriling bully who only knows how to kick someones head in, they want to manipulate and seduce rather than scream at the top of their lungs, "I'm evil! And if you Don't Join me I'm going to kill you all!"

And that is a threat not to be taken lightly. Walsingham is enough master of SPAM to the point of producing some of the best recipee's on the forum (I really have to try them out some day) As for the game, it did look quite interesting. Sort of like Tron meets Invaders meets my old c64 games on steroids I didn't download the demo yet, but watched the trailer. I don't trust Steam, so I'll wait and hear other oppinions before trying to get the demo. thought that was either metadigital or Baley...

I wasn't saying take from the rich give to the poor, what I was saying was if you take from everyone, take more from the rich and don't give them loopholes to keep the money. After all that money could actually, you know, be given to states for school systems, or public works projects. -

Why must it have that? As Taks said, just because we (as far as I know) can not imagine something outside time does not mean there isn't anything before and after time If it was outside time then we don't get free will because he/she/it controls every action we make at every moment. And without a beginning there can be nothing. -

theft is theft, regardless of which layer the money is taken from. it is not "better" to take it from any layer, it is better to not take it. taks I suppose we know why you think that any form of economic change is a bad thing... you consider taxes theft. -

My source for that info: US Bureau of Labor Statistics Its right in the center of the page Ok, so the USBLS is lying then. You can back that up with fact right? No, I did not think so. Illegal immigrants do not count because they are not citizens, are not entitled to unemployment benefits, and most importantly are not reporting themselves to any State agency for obvious reasons. Again you are demonstrating a lack of understanding of how the US works. The words "health care" and "education" do not appear in the US constitution. That is widely considered to be a State Government concern despite the efforts of the dems to nationalize it. If the federal government decides to take an active role in issues it raises the money to do so by taxing citizens, not businesses. It taxes the income from your job, the gains from your investments, the purchases you make (via tariff on imports), etc. I am not wealthy by any means but when democrats are in power capital gains taxes are often raised to a level that can only be called punitive. It makes small investors like me less inclined to invest in stocks when Uncle Sam is stealing 40% right off the top. When fewer people invest, stock prices fall. Then companies have less money to run their business which often leads them to retrench and then lay employees off to cut costs. Those people laid off file for unemployment and are not paying taxes. You see where this goes? I highly recommend this book: Basic Economics: A Citizens Guide to the Economy by one of the greatest economic minds of the 21st century: Thomas Sowell. I read that book in it's first edition many years ago and it changed how I think about these things. One thing to remember Kaftan. The US is a fundamentally different animal than European countries. The government is the US is stratified by design with each level assigned particular reponsibilities. In most European contries there is little seperation between national and local government so macro economics apply to the european model. It is not the same here at all. better to take money from the top of the social layer than from the middle... -

Back up there a second. God never came into being. God has always existed. God is infinate and we are not. Now you can not believe in God all you want, but I believe that science can only explain how God's creation works, not how it came to be. theres the paradox. Old earth creationists reconcile evolution with creationism by saying that the Seven Days was actually close to 4 billion years and so on and so fourth. Young earth creationists are just nutjobs, and just fyi, EVERYTHING has to have a beginning. You can't say that this nut case of an omnipotent person would sit around and twiddle his thumbs for an eternity before deciding he's lonely and needs a toy to play with. Gods are created to help humans define the world. If there is an unknown that we can't understand or see we proclaim it to be the work of god. If we didn't we'd probably have gone insane or become a very very bored and scared society. Humans as a race cannot define Nothing except as the absence of something because of the way our head works. we don't notice where there is nothing, only where something moves or is shown do we notice it. -

no offence but us workers at gamestop kinda hate people like you >.> <.< <.> especially when you waltz in and give us a trash name like John Johnson Wait a second, huh? Why do you need to give a fake name to trade in your old games and/or systems? I thought that was a completely acceptable (even encouraged) practice. Not that I can trade my Xbox in for any cash, seeing as it's modded... and the DVD drive is shot. If I didn't have all those emulators on there, it would be a big, black paperweight right now. What the thing is, is that usually the people who give a fake name for their trade ins generally act like we're going to use this information to steal into their house and proceed to pillage the place for anything that is valuable (including humans), or they are thieves who stole the game they are now getting credit for. The main reason we DESPISE huge tradins is that usually the person will upon hearing the $ amount start griping about how we're ripping him off and he doesn't deserve this... Also they create a HELL of alot of work, and if it's busy that means there are other angry customers behind the trader in who are tapping their foot angrily at us (because we are the sales people). BTW it could be worse, gamestop should Technically be fingerprinting everyone who trades in a game (because it operates like a pawn shop.)
