  1. from the bit I've played in WoW, it doesn't pop up with ads or even run in the backround like steam does. It only comes up with the game, and it will only act to network you between Blizzard games, so if you QTD then you're out of their zone.
  2. I think they ran out of ME and possibly ME2 (when it first came out)
  3. basically, if you were a close in fighter, you're screwed.
  4. Tig, if you wanna get online, you have to get the new bnet
  5. no, the US launch is today, don't know about the EU launch... it was funny because the WoW forums lit up with "YAY! WE'LL GET A FIRST KILL!" until blizz announced that the dungeon being added won't be activated until the EU and asia get the patch/Bnet update
  6. I wouldn't, and in general when something new is released the number of units sent to a location is based on the # of preorders (at least at gamestop). I'm guessing with ME they didn't expect the turn out they had so didn't allot enough codes. The interesting bit is that they appear to have corrected it... in 1-2 DAYS. Not weeks, DAYS... which wouldn't be possible under any circumstance other than something like steam.
  7. Just giving a little heads up for those starcrafties who have 0 interest in warcraft or the world there of. As of TODAY (supposedly) Battle.net is being updated to act more like steam. With the ability to friend people based on their account (XXXXX@XXXX.com) rather than just a character or whatever. And then you can open up your friends list and see who's playing what and possibly cuss them out for playing something you hate. Anyway here's the official Developer post on the subject. and heres the "real id" faqs page http://us.battle.net/realid/faq.html
  8. Well, if they keep Afganistan in Turmoil they could theoretically create a meatshield between them and a possible russian move, because the russians would have to plow through two armies rather than make peace with a central government and slow em down. Also it prevents Afganistan from even TRYING to become a power in the region and secures the western approach to a degree because a country at war with itself, generally doesn't fight with outsiders that much.
  9. Krook, suggestion, while you're in college and have a few spare credit hours, just carpet bomb 101 classes (baselines) until something tweaks your interests. Probably try to dovetail it in with your English if you can, but run with whatever you like (trust me, going in saying "I randomly like this!" is not a good idea...)
  10. I preferred three over Vice personally, mainly because 3 had actual, you know, hills in it. San Andreas just felt to... large to me. I like to be able to get from one end of the place to the other in a reasonable amount of time, including crashes. Also it had WAYYY to many missions where I got stuck for several days.
  11. that particular problem should be hung on the publisher. They gave the activation codes to Steam in the same way that gamestop recieves copies, not enough activations means "out of stock"
  12. it was an opinion piece that didn't really have a point from what I could see...
  13. Honestly, I find this to be true. The developers of software don't realize that we don't WANT to have something automatically complete what we're trying to do, it's like that stupid paper clip in Word, except that to shut it off you have to look up a tutorial that tells you to do a Samoan rain dance on the third day of the 25th month of the year of the rat. Also, things have a tendancy to not get marked easily, like when you're digging through a skillion menus to find something that should be REALLY FLIPPIN EASY to change because of adventure game level "oh, this should go with this".
  14. today, I just realized I need a kevin butler forum sig.
  15. IIRC ME had problems with sound channels where it would try to put to many sound channels out and so you'd hear your footsteps really well and the music, but god help you hearing dialogue and weapons fire. I think the work around was switching things to "Use hardware sound"
  16. They've had that problem before.
  17. Yeah, I'd say Alcatraz is a big "Must See" thing too.
  18. Personally I'm not a fan of GUI elements in-game mode as for example in case of Spinter Cell, I'd play black and white game most of the time. We had black and white TV till early 80's and I'd rather not see that return It made very little difference since the game was gritty and nearly everything was gray in the first place. still other games that utilize this sort of thing (DefJam3 for example) would MUCH benefit from having a simple gui overlay that shows the status than this because otherwise you find that you're playing mostly in a black and white game.
  19. but it can lower them to a point where they don't have enough genetic diversity to survive.
  20. well, if you're going up five and taking 80 into sf you could stop in fairfield for the jelly belly factory
  21. Karate Kid. It stands up to the original pretty well all things considered. I do think that the mom needed to be sidelined more (woman got on my nerves EVERY TIME she was on screen because she seemed both to care to much, and to little for her son). The kids are younger and Jaden Smith certainly channels dear old dad quite a bit. Some things however are over the top, mostly in the tournament at the end where it seems like they WANTED to turn it into a video game with the screen big screen somehow getting every hit from a perfect angle. They also showed a bit more training than just "Wax on Wax off" and "paint the fence".
  22. yep, it gets particularly tedious when one of you is persecuting a war while the others are just waiting for him to finish moving his troops.
  23. http://spoonyexperiment.com/2010/06/20/e3-...ay-2-deus-ex-3/ Most of it is raving about the game Includes an interview with the lead designer from Squeenix
  24. well, what interests you? I mean SF has a pair of theme parks (six flags and great america... six flags is better anymore) a couple dozen museums, alcatraz....
