I'm at 11 right now, I can probably pick up at least one more today

Bought Mafia 2 on a whim during the sale. Honestly? I don't understand why I'm playing this... I mean, it's ok fun, but it's so frustrating at the same time. I think Yahtzee made a very good point in that the game just doesn't NEED the open world. It would have been better if there was a simple, linear progression with you playing the door gunner and such, compared to this "We wanna be GTA!" stuff where there is NOTHING to do. Also, the whole "Your car gets damaged" malarky in these sorts of games needs to get stuffed. I'm sorry, but unless they have a button that makes it so you only go the speed limit, and have the same amount of control as you do in a REAL car, you're gonna hit stuff. And while I don't expect my car to be an invincible tank, I also don't expect it to crumple every time I boink something because of the fact that games like these suck for drivers.

They took the GREEN! NOOOOOOO!

For soem reason, I find these members of the west bourough baptist church basically "rage quitting" real life hilarious

I'll never understand what happened to Billy Zane's career. He was making some great movies in the 90's, and then he just fell off the map and became a B-Movie star. Judging by his IMDB profile, it was the Phantom and Titanic that were his last real films. But he's done a LOT of other work... Right now (according to that) there are 11 movies of his that are in Post Production. He probably got hit by something similar to what happened to Segal... although he didn't become fat, and unable to do his one gimmick while stroking his ego.

Also Hitman and Sam and Max. And Sup Com 2

It is a brilliant film. Although somewhat spoiled by the amount of cgi manipulation that happened to have that shot of Jessica Alba in the shower. She was basically wearing lycra exercise pants and sports bra style clothing for it... Is it me or is there something slightly weird about having a "i won't do even partial nudity, but I have no objection to them putting a cgi partial nude based on me in the film for everyone to stare at". I have no problem on her stance of not being nude (well, not beyond any heterosexual guy who appreciates Jessica Alba..), but it seems a little twisted to reach the stage of still playing a character that ends up with a partial nude on film.. As long as its artificial.. Well, both her and Lohan were like that. But the only difference is that Alba let them do her physical body, while Lohan had a 10 years older body double doing her job.

Machete This film is the most awesome compacted in a single 90 minutes. Well, most exploitation over the top violence and **** awesome. There's another type of awesome embodied in Scott Pilgrim.

btw, anyone know a hot british chick who wants a mail order husband? -
Same with C&C4 yesterday... and yet that's number 4 on the "top sellers" list last I checked.

Got a "Don't park here" letter from a neighboring business to my work because I apparently parked in their space. Never mind there's no sign that says it's there, and that it's a part of the McD's parking lot... I figure if they do actually try anything, I can turn around and sue them for my car, the towing bill, and my legal bills because there is no notification of anything.

Monte, if it turns out that they killed people for their own stories, I'm blaming you. -
Actually, charter's can work pretty well, partly because of the fact that the charter school doesn't always have to go through the unions and thus can eliminate teachers who are obviously no longer worth what they're being paid (or anything really). However, it really all depends on the admin I think.

Company of Heroes for 7 bucks, C-strike for 5 (who doesn't own C-strike now?) and Rift for 10 bucks. Oh, and the "impossibly invisible" C&C4 for 4 dollars.

Yes, because this is the second time you've mentioned him and I still have no clue who he is in relation to Steam. The little squirt with the hacky sacks. If you join the summer camp group they have a little letter home for each day of the sale.

Today I got called by a boss at work, in the parking lot of said store, asking where I was because I was supposed to be on the clock 2 minutes ago.

Is it wrong I sort of feel bad for Sir Roderick?

The way that I'm doing the sale is that anything that's not a daily deal, I'm not touching until the 10th. As to Killing Floor? It's basically mixing counterstrike with L4D. A single map that is fairly static, and you fight off waves of zombies. There's a class system that levels you up based on your particular achievments (like getting X number of headshots with Y guns levels up your marksmanship, giving you bonuses with those guns and discounts on them). It's fun in short bursts, six player max.

What is this pressure you refer to? Accountability? Doing ones job? The program sprung into place do to unacceptably high percentages of US children doing poorly. What entity is directly responsible for educating our children? Teachers. So if the teachers are asleep at the wheel dont you feel they should be held accountable in some way? Shouldnt there be some metric for grading individual teachers capabilities in how they perform their jobs? Well, you'd have a leg to stand on if they broke the testing down by teacher, rather than just did a school average. If you're a fantastic teacher in an absolutely garbage neighborhood, should you get your pay docked (and your school's funding lessened) because of the six teachers who view teaching as "Turn on nova and read the internet"?

Sooo... Anyone want to explain to me why we're discussing Nazi's in Britan and Austria in a thread about the US independence from Britannia 200 years ago?
-
I would guesstimate a large percentage. "The system" doesnt make people liars and cheats, their own morals allow it. Besides, I dont think anyone here will claim the US public education system is a ball buster so unless you're teaching retards every child should be easily teachable up to the minimum levels. IMO. I would argue that while the system doesn't make people liars and chats directly, putting pressure like the act does on the teacher does allow them to rationalize MUCH more easily than they would otherwise.

L4D2, Farcry 2, GTA... Seems like a good haul overall

http://news.yahoo.com/americas-biggest-tea...-213734183.html The gist of it for those who don't read the actual link and instead expect a summary here, is that in Atlanta teachers have been cheating on the standardized tests to improve the scores of the audited classes. According to the story, it's 178 teachers in just Atlanta, and they're seeing indications of it in six other states. The reason for this happening is the "No Child Left Behind" act that tied school funding to test scores (the Gates foundation does the same) so if they don't show the improvement needed their funding drops. Honestly the "act" sounds great on paper (keeping an eye on kids based on their testing scores) but realistically, it's a train wreck. From what I've seen, the teachers in my area, in order to keep scores up, would teach to the slowest members of the class, and make sure that EVERYONE knew what was on the test, but wouldn't teach much else. Anyway, DISCUSS!
