Best looking Nar Shaddaa
Darth_Schmarth replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree that KotOR2's NS lacked much of the creepy alleys with dirty feel, but that wasn't exactly something that JO did better. KotOR2 could have made NS look better, but so was the case with most places in the game (Citadel Station comes off as my personal object of disgust). Again, I'm just saying that when comparing games, KotOR2 was the game where I felt closest to actually being on Nar Shaddaa, JO made me very disappointed. Look at JA's Coruscant map (which isn't perfect by any means either, but still); that has more city-feel to it and JO Nar Shaddaa should look a bit more like it. -
So uh, why was KOTOR2 rushed?
Darth_Schmarth replied to -Zin-'s topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The problem with QA for a game of this size is that it isn't until the final third of the game that you start feeling cheated (except for the bugs you encounter). That's the kinda thing that can screw up. -
THE Ultimate Lightsaber Mod for TSL

I must say, this actually looks pretty neat. -
Best looking Nar Shaddaa
Darth_Schmarth replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
[/b] I don't mind the risk of falling. As you say, that's just like the case with Coruscant etc. But the JO level was very poorly designed in that it didn't feel the least like a city, it just felt like a video game level and it was ugly. KotOR2 Nar Shaddaa at least had rails where there was a risk of falling, and it had a general feeling of being in a huge city, which is something JO lacked. -
Why is the ending disliked???
Darth_Schmarth replied to Weaponmaster303's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Aaalright. Very farfetched. You actually tell Kreia what you intend to do at the end. So supposedly you do what you tell her (unless you "pull a Kreia" on her). -
Best looking Nar Shaddaa
Darth_Schmarth replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
While that works just fine in Imperial bases and the like, a city like Nar Shaddaa just wouldn't look like that. It just doesn't feel right. KotOR2 felt more like the "true" Nar Shaddaa (even though I must agree that they could have learned more from the design of Taris when making th areas. -
Whats the official "Revan" head?
Darth_Schmarth replied to Master Horn's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The whole point of Revan is that he/she is a costumisable character. He/she isn't supposed to have a defined look. Some people claim that both Revan and the Exile are LS males according to canon, but that is just for convenience. Revan looks just the way you made him to look and acts just like you made him act. -
Best looking Nar Shaddaa
Darth_Schmarth replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I disagree monumentally. I haven't played JK, but JO's Nar Shaddaa was just horribly ugly and frustrating as a level. I mean come on: long "bridges" without rails over a huge shaft. Gimme a break! It looked very undetailed and the fact that there isn't a single person to be seen except for evil Fat Rodian Mercs makes it feel utterly video-gamish; just another level. In KotOR2, however, it really felt like a city, and a dark and eerie one for that matter. My vote goes to KotOR2 NS without a blink! The one bit I agree about is the cantina, though. Why do all KotOR 1 and 2 cantinas have to look the same? -
Net Light and Dark Side Shift
Darth_Schmarth replied to Jambo's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
parents dont play video games. my parents usually say when i'm on my computer too much:get your head outta your a** and do some school work. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Perhaps if you'd done your school work you'd know that "net" per se has nothing to do with video games. You should pay more attention to your parents. -
I'm not sure I agree completely. It's obviously hard to say, since I did play KotOR before KotOR2, but I think that to a person who plays KotOR2 without having played the first game, it might seem as there is a whole lot of chatter about this "Revan guy" who they might not even know who it is.

Why is the ending disliked???
Darth_Schmarth replied to Weaponmaster303's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It's not just the actual ending. The whole final fourth of the game feels like a panicky wrap-up. There is a certain build-up to something that just comes across as a the-world-exploded-and-everybody-died closure. We all know why, but that doesn't make it any less unfulfilling. -
TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Darth_Schmarth replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In fact, KotOR2 isn't so massive. By RPG standards, I believe it's a fairly short game. Besides I don't really get this "people wouldn't understand" the story business. Either they do or they don't, the game is already out. Of course there shouldn't be bugs and deleted scenes, is that a good thing in any game? -
Ouch...

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress
Darth_Schmarth replied to Aurora's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I find the skill progress at writing these progress reports here most fulfilling. I shall report to you immediately once I've made enough progress to report something equally progressive. -

Am I the only one who thinks they look like KotOR Mandalorians (or rather vice versa). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They are cloned froma Mandalorian. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no they arent, their helmets look like mandalorian neo-crusader helmets(ones from kotor) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I read some where that Jango is of Mandalorian heritage that it affected how his bounty hunter armor looked. And I believe that the clones armor was derived from his. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> While what you say is true, I was talking about the Imperial Guards in this case. But Clone Troopers could never be any cooler than Storm Troopers for simple OT vs PT quality feel reasons. It's like saying that you prefer Jar Jar Binks to (OT) C3PO and R2D2. While the droids aren't exactly hilarious they outshine Mr. Binks by miles. (did anyone see the DVD material where Georgie says that Jar Jar is the funniest character in TPM? Wonder if he regrets that statement now, seeing as Jar Jar was a clear non-presence in the two following movies)

'Fraid not.

...but it sure would have made a nice skill/force power. I think the Exile would've had a few more than just Handmaiden, Visas and Mira on board if he'd have had THAT ability to chat the girls up with!

I must agree on the male skins. Awful. Half of them look either like stupid grunts or stand-ins from an MTV video. But I always play male, because I'm... well, MALE. Playing a female and romancing Carth etc kinda... puts me off. Dunno why, really; I didn't mind playing female in Jedi Academy (probably to a large extent because Jennifer Hale's voice acting was waaay better than that of the male Jaden).

Revan's fate in KotOR 3 (or later)
Darth_Schmarth replied to dufflover's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Perhaps both Revan and the Exile will just be spoken of, only to turn up towards the end as the new Dark Lords: Darth Lost and Darth Exile. Who knows? -
The impressive thing about a Mini Death Star is that even an X-Wing couldn't destroy it, since there are no X-Wings that small. Neat!

I don't know anything about modding, but I always wished someone would create a mod where you could use the KotOR2 robes in KotOR. The robes in KotOR suck big time, and I somehow imagine it wouldn't be all that hard to do. But as I said, what do I know? Is there such a mod or would anyone wanna make one?

Revan's (or the Exile's) role in KOTOR3
Darth_Schmarth replied to TerranEarth's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Obsidian created this mess by continuing a finished story without closing it. I don't envy whoever has to tidy this mess up when or if the game is made. -
So uh, why was KOTOR2 rushed?
Darth_Schmarth replied to -Zin-'s topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I don't think the publisher and the developer "agree" per se; I think it's rather a case of LucasArts saying "Have it done by Christmas", and Obsidian reply something along the lines of "Yes, my Lord". -
What I don't like in KotOR2 is how it refuses to show what buffs you have active. In KotOR1 you could go to your character sheet and see all active buffs, so that when you had multiple ones you'd know which one had just run out. Now you only see that one of them ran out, which isn't a problem if you're just using a few of them once, but sometimes it's a cause for confusion.
