  1. Tenaciously Offending Mindless Bootlicker Simulation?
  2. This is another one of those things that Civ needs to improve on. Goverments are a very good example, but there's more. It's always taken too long in Civ to catch up in technology, as first-hand experience of a neighbour's or enemy's superior discoveries doesn't give any bonus in research. In Civ3, every additional nation that has a tech, grants bonuses to other nations researching that tech. Only the first nation to research a tech has to actually pay full research price. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This I know. The difference is still too big. I never had a problem with this. I always fought the latest infantry since I've reinstalled. Is your game patched? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This I envy. Haven't played in a year or so, so unless the patch you refer to were around by then I may not have been patched up enough.

Then there is the matter of upgrading your units. In Civ3, the AI sucks at this. They'll still have hordes of pikemen in the modern era, using up maintenance slots badly needed for infantry and tanks. It should be handled automatically to a certain extent, and/or a unit being obsolete should actually mean it's obsolete, so we get rid of the spearman-kills-tank syndrome. No one in their right mind would use a spear for defense when there are machine guns around, and no one would tell you to either.
  4. I haven't played Victoria, but I'm told that Crusader Kings is supposed to be fun.
  5. Well, Ender, you could always keep it (the fantasizing I mean) as a secret trump reserved for emergencies.
  6. There are a number of people who have been known to fantasize about me over the years. While most of them (I'm only talking about the seriously outnumbered, but still immense male community now) take your stance about it, Ender, some have actually told their spouse or girlfriend about their devotion to a same-sexed hottie of pioneering design. This has lead to various outcomes, but the most common has been improved sex life, since the women want to regain the full dedication of their men. So ultimately, while telling your wife would be taking a great risk, there might be some Serious Luvin' to gain extended access to. It's your choice.
  7. And for that I am delighted.
  8. Turbulence when changing governments is represented by Anarchy, and the attitude from civs with other governments. Anything can be improved, but it does okay at that. I personally see more urgent needs for improvement, such as the flawed RR situation discussed above.
  9. Europa Universalis II and Hearts of Iron II, both by Paradox Entertainment.
  10. And his conceiver an alcoholic, it would appear.
  11. You're shrewd Meta, I'll give you that.
  12. I have not accused Darque of being an instigator. I merely pointed out that she used a humourous and very Darque-esque choice of words when she thought I was being a touch rude. That got settled pretty quickly, however, and is in fact quite irrelevant to anything concerning Civ4.
  13. Cryptic schmyptic.
  14. You're more about Thought Police style tactics, I see.
  15. I have a +6 CHA pair of boxers, got me the goods more than once. :D
  16. Meta, you are now spamming this lovely thread with references to British groups that I don't even like, and I'm too stupid (or blessed?) to even begin to understand why? Please don't be so out there.
  17. No flame intended, but why is it always "boring" with the sports Yanks don't like? I'm European and like soccer, and I remember some American dismissing the sport since "you can't grab the ball with your hands". Touch
  18. What, the tactics? I am officially clueless. EDIT: This post has been modified to correspond with the mended post #289 by metadigital. The modification goes as follows: I know, did I ask?
  19. I think I'll wait for #6.
  20. Darque recently accused me of using "instigation style tactics" in an argument. How is that not gold?
  21. Though the unmistakable scent of sarcasm coinciding with the topic regarding hoods has taken up residence in here, I must say I am all for hoods. It makes for atmosphere and should consume very little time in development. Just because most (even if not all) of us realise that it takes a bit more than that to make the game good, there is still no reason to dismiss the impact of such an introduction. Let us take the Boy Bands of yesteryear for example. Does anyone believe they'd sell that many copies of their substandard albums if they weren't the lovable cuties they apparently were? Or, better yet, compare it with your own real-life choice of clothes. You could technically wear any pair of trousers, and they'd fill their function. But you're much more likely to put on something you like and feel comfortable with both physically and mentally.
  22. Increasing sea movement is a must. I agree that it is all more about game balance than realism (realism never having been an influential factor in Civ), but on the point about removing trade income from roads I think it'll take more than that. There should actually be a certain upkeep penalty, since it's never a bad thing to have roads all over the place (if a roaded square is occupied by enemy forces it is still handy to have more road around it). You'd have to weigh the need for building road with the cost of keeping it travel-worthy.
  23. Er, how much background to you need? We know that and all, so what more do you want to know? His parents' names? What school he went to as a kid?
  24. Don't think so. Hate to ruin it, but I'm not Albertan. I just happen to be an old Messier fan who likes the Oilers, but I'm from northern Europe.
  25. Seems like all great men are named Ron. :D
