No. More likely his video card is overheating. Specs? Known issue, you actually did miss something. There are 5 enemies in the area, the trigger is killing all 5. Somehow, one of them evaded you... RAI hard at work... too hard. I'm not sure what you think is going to happen, then again, I don't recall any surprises (intentional or otherwise).

Dedicated Physics Processor, available now
I'm not so sure. I have yet to play a game with AGEIA physics which really wowed me. It just seemed to be "okay, so enemies ragdoll less than realistically." You can't drag them, or even bump into them. *Shrugs* It is possible that games aren't taking advantage of all its features, but that could be because the features themselves suck.

At 50 hours, I don't think you're really giving up on a game...

A lot of the settlement and miscellaneous quests are fun. The aforementioned "stuck in painting" is fun. As is the quest in Anvil where the wizard is stuck in a dream state. As I said, my favorite questline is among the most difficult quests to complete, because it is obscure. You basically have to luck upon an item in a dungeon to trigger it, and then get no real clues as to how to continue. There are a few hints around the world, but without a map or guide, I just can't see anyone completing it, unless people are REALLY lucky or REALLY dedicated.

I have seen AGEIA physics in action in a few games and haven't been thoroughly impressed. The City of... series of games use AGEIA, and the physics is pretty bad. After defeating an NPC they can tumble over, but sometimes they bend over and they look like they're dropping to give push-ups with their arms still supporting their torso. Anyone have any examples of good physics with AGEIA? I know there aren't many games out using it. Anyone played Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends?

The Dark Brotherhood quest line is among the best in the game. I think it is probably the closest to what Hades' is looking for in Oblivion. It is probably the most popular quest line around the office, and I don't think anyone will be disappointed with it. One of my favorite quest lines is the most difficult quest in the game for someone to finish without a strategy guide... so difficult that I can't see anyone completing it without a map marked with locations marked on it. In all honesty, aside from the very, very beginning and a a small part of "Act One," Oblivion isn't bad. I don't think there are many games whose developers continue to play the game for fun.

Decided to upload a screenshot from my home rig. eVGA 7800 256mb PCI-E card, 1 gig RAM. Not the greatest rig, but still detected as ultra-high. I'll post more as I go. P.S. Note that my character has 2 skirts on. It is because I am comfortable enough in my sexuality to wear skirts, and lots of them. P.P.S. The greaves I'm wearing are enchanted with Life Detection in 180ft... I called them the "Loins of Life."

Black horses are the fastest horses, but also the weakest horses. All horses have statistics, in terms of strength, health, speed, etc...

All kinds of stuff. NPCs like to make trips accross the world (makes for fun random encounters), for example.

How long is the first act? And does the game adjust if you go wandering off to explore. Or will it just be easy ? Er.. Well thanks for that disturbing mental image... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The first act, in terms of gameplay, is approximately 3-5 hours. It does scale. As for narcissism. Obviously, I was joking in regards to "I'd do me."

The story picks up after the first act. I enjoyed Oblivion's story much more than I did Morrowind. I only dislike one part, and it is towards the beginning. Unfortunately, it is. No offence to SS, but this recurrent theme in Bethesda's games lead me to believe that all their own faces are butt-ugly; they model the game-faces after themselves. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> hrm... I didn't know about this policy, and I certainly don't recognize anyone from the office while in game. In regards to the appearance of the Bethsoft employees, I think we're a rather attractive bunch. I'd do me.

It should run, but not very well.

You would be surprised. We have "high process" and "low process" activities, but the difference in terms of AI computation isn't great. I would have to differ to the Oblivion AI squad for a more in-depth analysis of the difference, but you would be surprised at just how much we are doing in the background.

Audio Upgrades
Okay, so, when it comes to sound cards and speakers I don't know a thing. However, with my tax return coming soon, I am looking to upgrade my home theater/PC stereo system and want to go wireless. Any of you game maniacs have any tips on a speaker system that will be used for home theater and PC use? Additionally, I'm looking to upgrade my sound card, so any information in this regard would also be coo. I'll probably end up asking the sound goofs at the office, anyway, but I figured you guys might have some info.

That is not what untextured means. If it were untextured it would appear as a giant white, featureless plane. Once again, what you refer to as "untextured" only appears in certain hardware configurations/settings. If you set the draw distance to the max, but turn off LOD trees, yeah you're going to notice the huge, featureless, low-process texturing.

I fail to see how storing a variable on an NPC is any different than an NPC remembering something the PC has done. PlayerHasMyQuest == 0 Player has not accepted the NPC's quest. PlayerHasMyQuest == 1 Player has accepted the NPC's quest. PlayerHasMyQuest == 2 The player has completed the NPC's quest. This isn't exclusive to Oblivion, either. I'm 99% sure other game development houses do something like this. How is it any different than you remembering something? "I haven't eaten breakfast." "I will eat breakfast now/I am eating breakfast now." "I've eaten breakfast." Or hey, lets apply to something that someone ELSE might ask you to do. "No, I have not asked him to pick up milk on his way home." "I've asked him to pick up milk on his way home." "He has brought me milk!"

The AI is running processes at all times, whether you see them on screen, or they're in the same town as you. They are not, however, running full processes.

There are no untextured hills, the problem is video drivers, and hardware configuration. Draw distance can be set as high or as low as the user wants. If you set it to the maximum on PC the trees appear as far as you can see, pretty much. On Xbox, since you cannot mess with the sliders, there are some instances where they seem to jump out of nowhere, usually when you load into a cell and the trees in distant cells are processed. One of the biggest problems with this is that it hits you RIGHT as you come out of the first dungeon. The positioning of the exit was so that you're looking up at an enormous cliff where there should be shrubbery and trees concealing the LOD textures. Unfortunately, if you have your LOD set low, you get to see the "low process" textures in the distance. That is one of the primary reasons it hits people right away, unfortunately.

Official Obsidian Battlefield 2 Ranked Server Up!
I'm an excellent pilot, but I cannot aim for ****. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We should team up. I have mad skills as the gunner. If I have a good pilot, I'm shooting down helicopters with the TV Guided missiles :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This could POTENTIALLY be a better strategy than my kamimaze helicopter runs. ...maybe...

As I said, the narration in that trailer is terrible. It seemed like a horrible Fallout ripoff when I was listening to it.

If I were you, I would contact ATi and tell them the card is malfunctioning. Send it in to them, worst case scenario, they return it to you and call you a dirty communist liar.
