I think it's only fair to point out that I know plenty of perfect bloody fools who believe in evolution...

I hate to put the kaibosh on a comparatively civil debate, but what has this to do with the OP?

Had good sleep. Bright crisp morning, with beams of warm sunshine spread across it like hot caramel on vanilla ice-cream. Nailed one work objective already. Hope I can keep this up, but I know from past experience that I'll hit the doldrums around 1130!

That my friends is the face of a man who defrauded his company of more than 2 million, and spent it on prostitutes.

Started day with a hillstomp, ended with steak, beer, and rewatching Fallen Angels. Home made crumble. Good work as well. Very relaxed until I slumped on teh couch and my back went! Better now though and looking forward to a good sleep.

I think I follow you. And if so, I think I agree. However, we have to be careful how we express our demands. If we ask for another Arcanum then devs and publishers will just go "Oh god, not another one." If we ask for a steampunk game, which is steampunk because it combines imaginative machinery with old world adventure, notions of honour swordplay and giant mechanical bats, then I'd say that was a better 'pitch'. I suppose in a way I'm saying that just as the industry has to sell us games, we have to sell the industry the games FIRST.

Like, on the internet? You can't have a real job, I thought you just moderated forums in the control room of the Internet for a living? Control room? Obsidian moderators are in a sort of cupboard sized area just off the boiler room, where they are never free of the noise caused by the mewing of unbearably fluffy cats making apparently human facial expressions then licking themselves. And the coffee machine has no name brand coffees. Or tea without milk.

Small observation: WHY DOES NO ONE ON THIS PAGE HAVE AN AVATAR? ~~ Also, where is theslug?

Pretty interesting. I like your point at the end about game mechanics. Have you ever, you know, got drunk and burst into a university cognitive psych department demanding to know how people approach puzzles in real life?

Hang on. I'd draw a line between games which actually exploit the original IP, like Fallout 3, and games which only use the IP to exploit nostalgic old computer game reviewers as with the new X-COM. I think this discussion would be a bit clearer if anyone could explain how IP is traded and how it can be exploited. Then told us what the various costs of those aspects are. Then told us what it costs to generate new IP. I'm arguing MYSELF around to the point where it is surely better to put money into new talent and new ideas. Revamping the past may sound like polishing up that ol' chevy. BUt I suspect in a lot of cases you're simply putting Britney Spears into rehab.

(Can't edit) OK. That sounded as if I was refusing to accept this was bad, and should have been handled differently. In a way I am , but I'm saying that I don't think it's some sort of "lets shoot all the wogs" effort. Collectively accountability is something we really seem to struggle with in modern law. Another example is the odious Sharon Shoesmith who successfully sued the government for sacking her over systematic failures in her department leading to the death of 'Baby P' over a prolonged period of sickening abuse. I'm just not convinced anyone more senior would be criminally accountable. And I also think you'll find the careers of officrs in those units will be as blighted as possible without official action.

What would you say this was the face of?

I don't know what he hell your standards are for cover ups. This was an open enquiry, reporting publicly, and securing confessions from soldiers. I agree the offences were shameful, but what do you expect the Army to do? Disband? I must point out that the British Army (unlike some I could mention) is bound military regulation which can carry jail time, British law, and the law of wherever they are serving. Even in combat. So if you think a criminal case would stick to anyone I'd love to hear who and for what. There's no shortage of ground to stand on.

Actually, what the hell DID happpen to squats?

I'd certainly think so. It's not as if prostitutes genuinely disguise who they are and what they do. It'd be like having a clandestine pie shop. Hard for the customers to find you. Mmmm... pie. Ooh, it's lunchtime!

Holy crap. Where did you read that? I know I worked opposite a 'traveller' site many years ago. Bloke used to spang the crap out of his wife. We called it in at least three times. Police NEVER turned up. Thier kids threw bricks through the office windows, injured my colleague's face. Police never turned up. Eventually, local businesses hired private security. Not sure what they did but the worst offenders moved on. I genuinely don't understand how anyone can defend criminality as an ethnic choice. Or rather, if you can then why the mafia/'Ndrangheta/triads don't use the argument is quite beyond me. "Extorting money from local businesses is a practice rooted in generations of ethnic history. You racist."

Good to see you back! Fwiiw, my mum used to drink a kind of tea made with fresh root ginger. Not sure if it'll suit your circumstance, but at least it has a kick to it, even if it's not alcohol.

I think that if you did it, you'd quickly get over your squeamishness. A good day's walking, a gun, a couple of rabbits, a jacknife, and a fire = dindins.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/8758817...pport-life.html Lifeforms there will apparently be short, stocky, and a bit sweaty. EDIT: Maria Caliban already linked to it. http://forums.obsidian.net/index.php?showt...0&start=240

Big STEAM bug - don't blame Obsidian

So what in the name of muddy funcroc is the bloody file?! I have raised a ticket with Steam. We'll see what they say. -
Crafting systems in offline RPG's

Fair play you don't like it. That's up t oyou. But it seems daft to resent it for making you do stuff. 90% of a CRPG is busywork. Why not let you have the silver sowrd immediately? Because you'll like it more if you put effort into getting it. Being able to custom tailor it is pure gravy as it lets you choose the abilities you think are most useful and relevant to your style of play. Yes you can end up dragging buttloads of crap around with you. The answer is prioritise and have a bit of goddamn self control. Unlike my housemate. -
I'm not messing with you! I thought crustaceans tasted bad as they got big. Spare space in the shells filling up with gunk and general old age. I guess it's different with crustacea that are naturally big. Crab in the UK is pretty small. Maybe two hands' breadth across. Although personally I prefer crayfish.
