Poll: Odds of Bastila coming back
SilverSun replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
If they wanted to focus predominately on new characters they could have put the story 50 years down the road. I half expected they would. Considering it's only 5 years down the road, I expect KOTOR:1 characters to play a significant role in the game. True, time will tell one way or the other exactly how much of a role they play. -

I'm under the impression that the devs have said that Revan will play a vital role in KotOR II, thus Bastila will aswell. Please correct me if i'm wrong about this (with links or quotes : )). I don't think your wrong there, but I haven't seen anything that's said Revan will actually be in the game for a huge part of it. They could simply have part of the story be looking for him/her,why you're doing so you either come across some of the characters from the other game or information about them. What info, when, where, how, and why you meet the different characters I'm going to assume would be decided by the questions asked at the start. Bas's fate could simply be shown in that way without it over shadowing anything. Maybe Bas's fate, alive or dead, has to do with why Revan left a year after Knights. Forgot to add that part. Sorry. No reason to be sorry,*L*Thought you did so for a reason. -

how would you implement Bastila in KotOR II without giving her a role that would overshadow the story? Has it been stated how big a role Revan will play? I know it's been said we'll find out what his destiny was/is but that doesn't mean he/she will play a huge role in the game. Could simply have Bas's destiny, alive or dead,be done as part of that line in the story. Wouldn't have to over shadow the whole plot of Sith Lords. Any reason why didn't you have LS female listed up there? -

You refer to dark side ending now. Still don't understand nothing. Any game can't be based on different endings. If you think so try to make scenario for such game. No one will complicate things by such nonsense (and no one ever was). Heh,you speak for everyone do you?Interesting. Anyway, tis cool if you want to drop it. Wasn't trying to fight, simply debate. So I say dont waist the original characters! Its a sequel after all! Yes it's a sequal, but the characters of the first are not the only focus of the game. -

Besides they are a minority! True, but so what? The options,if done right, allow both sides to play as the see fit. So what does it matter if they allow the minority a way to play as they see fit? -

A)That's not chaos. B)Mysteries of the Sith is more of a sequal to JK the JK:O. C)JK is not a RPG,RPG's have more to do with personal and individual choice then actions style games like the JK series. D)Right off the top of my head- A rival Dark Jedi fighting KK for his place. There were ways it could have been worked. Or They could have done something along the lines of JA where KK was in the game but not the PC. There are ways to work things that allow choice and do not bring about chaos. -

I don't really care how many total there are,I just want a group fight at the end. At least the option to do so. -

Yeah but there is general storyline of whole series. Do you realize what chaos would we have in Jedi Knight series if devs would got both endings as real? Umm,no I don't. What chaos would have been brought about by that? Besides I don't know how it is possible to dislike Carth or Bastila? They are very interesting characters with their own problems and they are more human that most characters in video games. I can't imagine killing anyone of them... *Shrugs* I don't dislike either of them myself. However my individual taste does not always, nor should have too,fit with everyone else. People are allowed to have their own feelings on the characters. Which again is a reason to allow for more options to choose from. Your taste is not the same as everyone else by adding the options it allows you have your style of play while someone else can have theirs. -

I think the possibilities within one episode does provide a great sense of individual gaming experience -not to mention that it constitutes the very replay-value that is so impoerant; but still I'd say it's a different matter when it gets to inter-episode choices. So because that provides a good deal of individual gaming experience, there's no reason to expand on it and allow even more? anyway, how long do we have to wait in order to find out? until Dec. or Feb.? If they can get it out by Dec and it's complete then I'll hope for Dec. If they need the extra 2 months to work on something I say let them have it. *Crosses his fingers for Dec.* -

Perverts are not important. *LOL*WTF?? How does disliking a character make you a pervert? This may come as shock but not everyone loved Bas and not everyone hated Carth either. Allowing the player to choose does not bring about chaos. Player makes a choice and the game repsonds based on the choice. -

It would mean more chaos and I'd prefer clear solutions in basic things. There must be some stable elements nd Bastila's presence should be such element. Her presence could be in the game even if she as a character is not seen. She doesn't have to be a member of the JC for that to be in the game. And the lack of her presence could mean a lot to people who hated her. I've seen a few people who loved to kill her the way some love to kill Carth. -

anyway, I'm not sure if any of what I've said above makes sense! but one thing that ought to be mentioned is that almost everyone must have played this game more than once, to see the possibilities. Why do we have to assume that everyone has to have a deep commitment to one such possibility, and insist on seeing it in the next game? Played 5 full times, have a save file on a 6th,played both male and female, but I've only played the light. That's just me. I've talked to some who have only done the dark side and others that have played each side. Some have played one side only once and then played the rest with their Fav. You just don't know what choices were made. I don't think it's about assuming that everyone has a huge commitment to one side or the other. But when you create a game like Sith Lords, how do you decide which path the characters took? Do you force a light or dark ending on the players? That kind of goes against allowing the player to choose light or dark to start with. As they said, they did not want to step on the choices that were made. The way they're setting things up allows people to play how they feel it should have played out. It's about allowing individual choice and creating an individual gaming experience. And just because I can see a certain someone making a comment about it. If it were up to me there would more then just humans to pick from and non jedi classes. However the lack of those things are not enough for me to dislike the game. showed only light side ending as real one. Here should be the same solution: Options are your friend. I fail to see how letting the player have more control on an individual level is considered a bad thing. -

I'm not sure where the problem(s) that you've said would come into play. This game more then Knights seems to be based on allowing the individual player to create a good part of the story around how they played Sith Lords. Now I don't know how in depth they're going but they've said more then once that they did not want to step on the choices made by the players in Knights. From what I've seen they're trying rather hard to take a look at and allow for a number of different experiences based around what choices were there to make in Knights. Not sure how it is that all the players would end up slighted if they do so in depth. -
s 10 NPCs not including your character. Also, there are more than 10 possible NPCs in the game. Which 10 you have depends on a couple different factors. I've seen it stated that if you go to far light/dark that certain characters will leave your party. Was curious,if they leave can you go back to planets you've been to all ready and/or go different planets and find people to replace them? Or if you chase someone off are you left a man/woman/droid/whatever short? Also,if you have a full party will you run into people that could be added into your party? Another words would it be possible to play the game a few times through and meet someone/talk with them and not know they can join because your party is all ready full?

Continuity between KOTOR & KOTOR 2 is none of my concern...devs can always invent some excuse for Bastila as a Jedi Council member...Revan can be in this Council too-as a master They can true,I don't see it happening though. But time will tell one way or the other. -

I do not really believe that Obsidian will be so stupid to copy storyline of the "Return of the Jedi" where Luke was last prevailing Jedi...I think that more logic would be in Jedi Order dissolved by the Senate and some unofficial Jedi Underground leaded by Jedi Council with Bastila as a member. If she's alive, wouldn't she be where Revan is? If she's not it sort of kills part of the story of Knights, that being the strong bond between the two characters. No matter what side you're playing as Revan went off to parts unknown,if she's alive she'd pry be with him. Not to mention if you're playing lightside Zal and Mission as well considering the life debt Zal had and Mission wouldn't leave Zal -
"It's not sun burn...It's freezer burn!" But on a serious note,if done right that could make for a decent back story to one of the characters.

How long can one live if they're in carb?

Be interesting as a quest to find out what the time is only to learn you were born 1000 years ago, as you should have died at least 900 years ago. Interesting... Heh,that's a hell of jump in time. Character couldn't be human I wouldn't think. Less they had on hell of a Force Nap. Or maybe they slept in a giant glad container.[Erie Indiana reference.]
-
Hmm. What if the timeline was unknown to the player, thoughout the WHOLE game? Could make things interesting, though not knowing the time line could get under some people's skin.
-
Would be interesting to see a SW RPG done in the other direction. Instead of some thousand odd years in the past do it some thousand odd years ahead of anything that has been put out there. Would open up a lot of different ways to take things without having to worry so much about stepping on any of the time lines or other such problems that some people had with Knights/Sith Lords.

Poll: Odds of Bastila coming back
SilverSun replied to Bokishi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
In KOTOR, the entire reason for the huge Sith forces was the Star Forge and Darth Malak. They made it seem as though there wasn't a huge army holding back somewhere in case the Star Forge was destroyed. They also gave no indication that there were any powerful Sith Lords other than Malak waiting in the wings. True, but the Star Forge had been pumping out ships, said ships had to have crews. Just like Dat. wasn't the only place where there was Jedi being trained there's nothing to say Korr. was the only place sith were being trained. The Republic and the Jedi had taken rather large hits to their man power both in deaths and people switching sides, they were both in a weak state. And instead of one powerful leader you have at least a few powerful people stepping up and taking charge and hitting all ready hurting group. They might not be as strong on an individual level as Malak, but they don't have to be. -

That can't possibly be the result of a good ending in KOTOR. In ANH the rebels destroyed the Death Star to end up getting run into the ground through Empire.(which if I'm not mistaken, there is a few years between the end of ANH and Empire.) Could simply be a much larger version of that kind of situation. They pulled out a victory in one battle, the war apparently was far from over. -
Maybe she just woke up and hasn't had that first cup of coffee yet...
