  1. Why does it seem like the male character in AC Odyssey (Kassandra's brother -- drawing a blank) reacts like he's been electrically shocked every time he speaks a line of dialogue? He can't seem to even deliver a line without looking like someone tossed ice water on his back.
  2. It feels like Cassandra in AC: Odyssey was in part modelled on Xena, at least it feels like it when I've been slaying countless enemies playing as that biceps wonder woman. Oh and "over/under" you say? Kassandra seems to be more slender than Xena. Not that Xena is fat, by any means. She just looks more robust/top heavy while Kassandra seems more tall and slim (ie. built more like a female pole vaulter than a wrestler)
  3. Tell your "friend" to refund it. Sarcasm aside, he's waiting/hoping for patches to fix the issues. He's more into shooters/Destiny clones so he's more forgiving with the story elements. I've seen enough, however, of the main story to know it's not a game I'm going to spend enough time on to buy it.
  4. Ha. Went over to my buddy's house and we were going to play a bit more of Anthem today. Only problem is the servers are so terrible and unstable that we either kept getting disconnected or we'd join a mission in progress only to lag like hell the entire time. What a joke that game is.
  5. Boo for lack of historical accuracy, then. At least when it comes to the Kassandra play through.
  6. More AC: Odyssey. Was it historically the case that women wore men's boxer shorts under their garb? Because every time Kassandra swims, I'm thinking she's wearing her brother's undies.
  7. I don't understand why that's not the case in some of these games. Someone who has spent enough time on the game to get to level 30 (or whatever) *should* be more powerful by a large amount than someone who has only put a half hour into it to reach level 2 or 3.
  8. It seems as though Anthem's looking worse than Mass Effect Andromeda. Amazing that it somehow took them 6 years to develop this game and this is the end result.
  9. Still more of AC: Odyssey. I find myself distracted doing the various side content in the different regions. It's such a time killer.
  10. I'd guess it's an EA decision, so I doubt whether BioWare learns anything will be irrelevant.
  11. Did BioWare even doing any testing at all before releasing the game? It seems like a lot of the issues are things that would easily have been caught early on in the testing phase.
  12. Also, freeplay mode (or whatever it's called) is so empty. My buddy and I spent about an hour roaming around and stumbled upon no wold events, and the only enemy encounter was a pack of scar who were easily dispatched. And we never saw any of the other players on the map the entire time.
  13. I haven't played through the narrative itself yet so I'm not sure how long it is. How long did it take you to get through it all? What other stuff did you find missing from the game (lack of content or otherwise)? (I know end game content has been a complaint as seems to be the case for a lot of these games but curious if there was something else) Playing at a friend's place as I didn't buy the game (he's my guinea pig), so I've only played it sporadically. But things that I've noticed that are lacking, either compared to previous Bio games or games in the loot shooter genre that Anthem is competing with: -Character stats. I can't tell how strong my character is, or how each piece of gear actually impacts my overall build -Story. What exactly is the story? I think me and my friend are about halfway through the main story (got to the grind part where you have to freestyle to finish challenges to open the 4 tombs) and I honestly couldn't tell you what the main story really is about other than the freelancer doing unconnected tasks for people. -Loot is terrible. The guns all look the same, the drops from encounters suck, and the stuff I can craft is terrible. -It's impossible to find "world events" on the freeplay map. You almost have to luck into them because there's nothing like in Destiny that indicates a world event is taking place in a certain spot. -Unable to access inventory and change gear except when you're back at the Forge -Transitioning between the Forge and Fort Tarsis is a load screen. Those are the main things. It just seems like the game is in the early stages before all the final touches are put on it. And the story seems like they didn't even want to add a story, but decided they needed some minor thing just to give you an excuse for doing these various errands. Even Destiny, whose story I thought was only average, seemed to be telling a more coherent story.
  14. Why did Bio decide it would be a good idea to release essentially a pre-beta stage version of Destiny as a final release for Anthem? The stuff missing in the game, the overall lack of content, the shortest and least effort they've ever put into a story, are things that you just wouldn't expect from a game in development for 6 years. Did Anthem get scrapped like 10 times over the past 6 years, and the version they released was one they scrambled to put together last summer?
  15. Played a bit of Anthem at my buddy's house today to see whether I'd actually be interested in picking it up. Some thoughts: -Ugh ... every mission is a public mission (that I played in). What made it annoying is I felt rushed every single time because one person would jump ahead, so I'd have to keep up or get that error message of being transported back to my group. So I never actually was able to take in the environments etc. -We (my friend and I alternated) ended up playing about 5 missions. I still have no idea what the story is about. Like, I sort of do, but the missions just seem disjointed and there's not the cohesive story that Bio's usually known for. This is more like a user made mod for like Destiny or something. -Loading screens galore. And being unable to change your load out anywhere but back at the Forge is stupid beyond belief. Those three things alone make it unlikely I'll spring for the game myself. Add to that the story seems flimsy at best (both from what I saw and from what I've read from others), so there's nothing that's drawing me in.
  16. I liked ME3 well enough until the end. It was streamlined, which kind of sucked but didn't kill it for me, but the ending is the only thing I really didn't like about ME3. I liked DA Inquisition well enough. Again, it felt streamlined and the side quests felt really poor quality, especially since Witcher 3 came out around the same time and hit it out of the park with the side content. But overall, DAI was fine. ME Andromeda is where Bio really started to sag for me. And from the sounds of it (both in terms of comments from fans and from reviewers) Anthem is taking it down another few notches.
  17. Yeah, that's the worst of those epic beasts, for sure. It didn't help that I have an assassin's build and most of my assassin skills weren't available to me. For instance, I like to start most fights versus bosses/mercenaries with that spear throw take down move, but as soon as I came close to the boar it saw me and I couldn't use the sneak attack.
  18. KOTOR was the game that actually got me into cRPGs. Loved KOTOR, then went back to play every RPG released before it.
  19. Almost done all the content on the various islands in AC: Odyssey. I still haven't gotten around to the main quest where I'm tracking down info on my mom. I finally did that Daughters of Artemis quest where I'm supposed to kill that legendary boar. Holy hell, that was HORRIBLE. It took me forever to kill the thing because those swarm of little boars kept blindsiding me. Gah. I swore so much playing through that.
  20. Probably a dumb question, but I take it it completely sucks as a single player game? Do you essentially have to play co-op to get anything out of it? What's the campaign like?
  21. Yeah. I'm not really seeing the upside to having LESS good games available because former talented studios get shut down, rather than hoping these developers/producers learn their lesson for the next game. Granted, from what I've seen and read of Anthem it's not even close to the game I'd expect from "BioWare". But I'm not entirely sure what them being shut down will do to improve future games?
  22. EA is the worst thing to happen to BioWare. First ME:A, and now Anthem, seems to be suffering from EA's meddling into what type of features have to be included.
  23. Curious what you think of it. I'm more curious about how close it is to Bio's previous games. Is it anywhere close to Mass Effect (warts and all), or have they gone a complete departure and it's as people assumed as a "Destiny clone"?
  24. The guys with shields aren't too bad if it's a 1 on 1 fight, but they become such a menace when you're having to fight multiple enemies at once. Especially because I find the "lock on enemy" function wonky. Every time I try to dodge away from one target, the lock will switch over to another even if I didn't want to switch.
  25. Fought a cyclops today. Not sure if it was meant to be a difficult fight or what, but that was so easy. Literally shot him full of arrows while dodging his ponderous attempts at strikes. The only tough part was dodging falling rocks, but even that wasn't too difficult. I have more trouble in combat against shield-bearing enemies than I did that cyclops.
