  1. Well let's see how long that lasts. Hopefully for quite awhile. :D
  2. Pagan was Ultima 8. It was actually a bit of a departure from the previous games in the series as you were on a separate planet with none of your companions.
  3. Depends. In Morrowind I spent the first few weeks not even going near the main quest or even Balmora. In that sense, it's non linear because I have the freedom to go through the quests or go whereever I want. In KOTOR, the game is the main quest and nothing else. You don't have the option of not doing the main quest in KOTOR because otherwise you will never go to other planets or new areas. I would prefer a sequel to be more open ended than that.
  4. I'm here to eat the mashed potatoes.
  5. Keep in mind that Ultima 7 shipped in 1993 so the graphics are dated and it's going to be a problem to run on today's PCs. I recall it needed its own memory manager? Still great though. There were 10 Ultima games, Ultima 1-7, Ultima 7 Part 2, Ultima 8 and Ultima 9. Ultima 8 and 9 were the worst of the series, with 9 coming out in 1999 and being very buggy and very slow (graphics wise) even though the graphics were very good. Ultima 9 today would probably play better and still look okay graphics wise. Ultima 7 and Ultima 7 Part 2 were the two best of the series with Ultima 4 and 5 being tied in my opinion for next best. Ultima X is MMORPG and will be out this year but it has no relationship to the series. There were also some spin offs. There were the two Ultima Underworld games, which were more dungeon crawlers with first person perspective. The first game was the first to have a continuous first person perspective (not grid based in movement for instance), a few months or a year before Doom came out so you can almost think of it as one of the first FPSs. Arx Fatalis was created as a spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld. There were also two games based on the Ultima 6 engine, Martian Dreams where you went to Mars at the end of the 1800s (yes strange setting) and another one beginning with Savage where you went back in time. Ultima predates the Amiga by the way. B) I played the first 6 on the Commodore 64 and Commodore 128.
  6. Basically, like NWN, KOTOR was a 2D game. The graphics are 3D but the games don't make use of a Z axis. A Star Wars game with the scenery or world of Morrowind would be good. Force Jump was heavily underutilized for instance.
  7. If KOTOR, some more vehicles. Make the planets larger and give us a landspeeder or snowspeeder (whatever is appropriate) to roam around in. It would be nice if the environment seemed more seamless when going between areas on a given planet. So more like Morrowind in your ability to explore and go wherever you want rather than KOTOR. NPC schedules would also be a good thing. Put some more places to go to on the planets so you can do some sightseeing and not necessarily while following any quest either. And of course more classes and races. I'd like to choose a non human race and not be a Jedi at all for instance. Maybe add the Bounty Hunter prestige class.
  8. Well there is always the possibility of adding an Auto Resolve function. If you know that you can beat those creatures easily, click a button and the game would automatically determine the output of combat and your parties would use default actions based on scripts or current status. I think it could work but might take some doing to get it right. Nothing would need to be shown to the player and you would just see the final results of the combat.
  9. Rather than this TB versus RT debate or each new D&D game developing their new version of how the D&D rules should be applied to a real time, WotC should just come up with an official set of rules for D&D RT for CRPGs. That is what I think part of the problem is with games like NWN or BG or others, they all implemented the ruleset differently since the ruleset is designed as a turn based. It just doesn't translate as well to a real time game and each developer does it differently. Which was why I was really looking forward to TOEE because it wouldn't have these hacks or improperly written rules made ad hoc by the developers of the games because they are implementing turn based rules in a real time game. A consistent system designed for RT would be nice.
  10. To be honest, I never played NWN in that manner or that matter any game. Just getting a group of people together at the same time would be difficult. Most I did online with NWN was go to the persistent servers.
  11. Do a modern day game using the D20 Modern rules. It would probably need to be published by Atari though.
