  1. If Obsidian has no problem with me working on it as a unsupported personal project (basically like anyone's personal NWN/NWN2 project), I don't think anyone's rights are violated. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> all the people create modules, noone is hurt by some nice ideas/stories
  2. of course the 2 would slow a bit down the rechearch of the other one, but not so badly, i guess we would have now after-ww2 jets and very costly teleportation magic at the same time (mages would be rich) I also like to have mages on focus something: Necromancy and such are already in the basic d20 as specializations, but i also like to add -time mages -elementalists -STARMAGE-s (users of high-magic, powered by the raw energy of stars/suns) What I create based on Earth and FR is not just one planet, I create with my friends a whole galaxy, with different cultures/races, some known, some new. psionics-magic-technology are all there and sometimes on different evolutional steps PS: I know it seems a bit chaotic on reading it 1st, but its simply hard to translate the soul of the idea without playing it PS: starmages are rare, they can be the only mages who actually create and not destroy...only they usually more like to destroy and not to build with the raw energy of solar systems, my whole campaign world is named after them becouse they are known, have some key roles in the history...and becouse they can destroy a whole system in an eye blink if they want to, or if they can't controll their own power PS2: about time mages, imagine rogue mages and tech-time cops chasing them, lots of fun trough histoy/alternate history And what the heck are gnomes by you doing in Dragonlance? Open chinese restaurants?
  3. I don't think he is really 'hooked' or he wouldn't write here for atleast 3 days. I had to quote this! :D
  4. gnomes dwarves ancient or forgotten cultures and if you want that the world truly evolves and doesn't stuck in time then atleast these are some of the things that will increase the technology What i don't like that it seems it gets fashion that if tech increases magic has to become less powerfull...how silly
  5. Just don't forget he/she is still a mage, ergo get some distance from the enemy, and if its truly needed, you can get more...personal. If so, use this combo (my favorite) true strike-hit-true strike-hit (and start again till the requested effect on the enemy -death- is recieved) This build is same as others till lvl 10-13, but then it suddenly increases in effeciency atleast 225% PS: don't forget that some armor modifiers doesn't stack, so you can use with the magic armor other rings (like regeneration) and capes (like the Nymph one) Also, with the always increasing Charisma it simulates the developement of the 'Aura of power and influence' the character has around him. (yeah, i am a real pnp player ) not true, i like all styles, mixed or not, but i prefer the 3.5 dnd above the others, and this after knowing the other ones. if i want technology i play the new world of darkness with simple humans (and no vampires and such) if i want fantasy i play so many different worlds i cant even list all of them (but favorite is FR) and there is my main favorite: mix 'em! I love to make STARMAGE, where technology and magic BOTH evolve (this is a d20 based world where Earth gets magical powers in exactly 1000AD, but history did not fully change...some things i think had to happen) PS: i suggest for those between you who play high-magic campaigns that the player has the possibility not to get new spells, but to increase effects of an already existing one. Here a sample, Magic missle lvl1 MM: damage 1d4+1 possible multiple missles and targets lvl2 MM: damage increase 1d6+1 lvl3 MM: missle damage 1d8+2, possible to activate together with other spell at the same time (use both spells up), lets say energy ones (use up fireball and lvl3 MM, and you get a 2D8+2 missle damage[fire] and all of the missles make a small area damage too like fireball [5 or 10 feet]) lvl4 MM: missle number max. deleted lvl5 MM: from now on only hightened Shield can affect it (not the normal lvl1 one, but the modified missles still can be 'defeated' with appropiate antimagics/counter/resistances) Ect. So you can have a basic spell improved like a gun, and if you have a magical rifle, you can improve both the rifle and its enchantment
  6. LOL! Credibility. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It makes sense. I mean, if NWN2 lost 2 points for being a few months late, how many points do you think FO3 loses for being a few years late? :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> sidenote: think about SW episode 1-3
  7. <_< LINK I so hate that people always think charisma=beauty. Even a goblin can be charismatic if he has LOTZ of power (or a pact with a demon)
  8. Play Arcanum. Swords with a bit of technology thrown in. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> More than a bit. Seeing as it has steampowered-armor in it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> translation: Power Armor
  9. The system is balanced, but not very logical. I heard it explained that a Wizard reads all the magic mumbo-jumbo except the last word which is the "Salenu samatka!!" part they shout when they spell and that starts the actual spell. One thing that is very strange is how they can read an entire scroll of a spell theyve never seen before in just a few seconds and cast from it all in the same round " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because their high intelligence helps them out? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and arcane knowledge, its like a language of its own
  10. So a class that is apparently cursed with frequent memory loss is also tasked with keeping track of a myriad different ingredients. "I wonder if it was the firefly gizzards in the fireball spell or if it was cinnamon..." Sounds like a disastrous combination to me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not if you create a character based on the funny site of wizardry 1. make it to look like an old man 2. make it semi-senile 3. make it talkative 4. get him on an adventure with lot of players who thought he is a powerfull archmage, and already payed him for his services PS: of course he starts like anyone else on level one...he was once an archmage, but forgot how to be one :D
  11. as i said the armor profiency is it all albout, like in real life, your character will get used to the heavier, bulkier ones. (get on lvl1 light armor, lvl3 medium, lvl9 heavy) also he/she has to try to make it possible to cast spells in them without problems (get on lvl 12 still spell) so if you manage to find an armor what does not modify your casting chances, Great! BUT if not, then you can still cast one level differenced still spells, and that means lvl 5 spells on lvl 12. So whats the difference between normal mages and armored ones in 3.5 ? -armored ones have either an elven (or similar) magic-friendly armor, or they cast one spell lever lower than others (but thats no big difference on lvl11-13) -armored ones are....well, armored, and with some nice, hastened, damage resistant (or whatever full plate armor you find) you are more able to survive great fights (and armor looks ussually nicer than robes too...and its SHINY!) -don't forget the nicest, first priority of armor: defense. You will have high AC, like fighters As mentioned i also like to combine this with elves, they have profiency in rapiers (good critical range), longswords (most powerfull/legendary weapons are longswords), crossbows (can pierce in real life full body armor), and of course longbows (the best ranged magic weapons are ussually longbows) Also there is a bonus to this char design in MP: an enemy of you will think you are a warrior before you burn his backside with some chain lightnings, or summon some hordes of monsters on him
  12. minor spark of hope gets bigger that there is an other version with less problems
  13. "...NWN2 allows one to become one of the Nine ..." And this is simply wrong, it shouldn't be possible to be one of the nine <_< so it becomes a 'ten'? or you just kick out of them one and take the place? only a step further and the prestige class allows you to become a God ....or a prestige class to bacome Elminster or Drizz't The Nine are unique, as all other identities, SHOULDN'T be able to do that. ...The only overpowered possible prestige class i could think about to be is the 'Bhaal Spawn', and I really suggest to change 'the nine' to 'chosen of mystra', it would be much better.
  14. get Sorcerer on Cha 16, you increase it later on all 4 levels other points at char creation mix it as you wish it ( i ussally go with average ones), but I suggest Int to be atleast 14, and increase social skills from the bonus skill points some interesting caster: if you decide you want something not usual, get a 12-16 strenght, and get all the armor abilities on the appropiate levels, if you don't find any nice 'o% magicmakesboom' armor (and i guess you won't), then you can switch on lvl 11-14 to normal magic heavy armors with the little help of the still spell metamagic. I play this kind of 'Armored Battle Mage' when I play an elf (quite nice with an elven chainmail/full plate, and saves a feat) This way you also don't need to multiclass, so you don't lose precious caster levels My suggestion for a little hotheaded, but intelligent elven mage: sorcerer: Str: 14 Dex: 10 Con: 12 Wis: 8 Int: 16 Cha: 15 (improve Cha all the times, a bigger Int at start means a bit more skill points on the earlier levels, better than the other way around, and a mage gets a good will save, so no problem that -1 from the low Wis) The real and only thing why a wizard could be better that you save up a lot of ability points (could decrase the Cha till 8 - gruffy warmage-), and put those on Int and the physical scores. Hope i helped a bit PS: I ussually do the sorcerer way, and pretend im a dragonblooded guy/gal...in NWN1 I always got 10 lvl-s in that drake class
  15. Yes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> don't forget the lot of tourists who buy cosmetics (and anything else) in europe, even if its the same as by them at home.
  16. One question: Why the heck are you in this community then? PS: Don't say becouse you love Hades, that doesn't work now <_<
  17. What's Intertron? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Errm ... the internet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So why not say "Internet"? Why "Intertron"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> T.R.O.N. ?
  18. don't think those aren't there, they already released a patch, and work on the second
  19. It is? Where? Everyone I have spoken to says that it won't arrive until tomorrow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> in the stores friend, in the stores. some people already had their first heartattack
  20. high-tech can be included, but it should be OLD high-tech, like powersuits or plasma guns, witch have already been included
