Obsidian Forums Diplomacy Game 1 (OBS-1)
Well actually, given your history of personal issues/mental instabiliy I was specifically intending NOT to refer to you, but instead to the others (with the exception to Mets who was the epitomy of gallantry). Also, despite that crazy comedic Swede NMRing of late, his sparkling spirit to the game has been well appreciated. And before you regress back to your pompous & arrogant self daring to "remove that notion from my mind", let me remind you - Yeah, so 1. You quit 'cause you couldn't hack it any more; 2. You have a personal complex about it and will use any excuse to disguise your instantiation of being a quitter; )

Nah - what is contrary to the spirit of the game is when people forfeit when the going gets tough, or when folks vote to deny people turns.

...Tsar Jaguar reporting from HQ - you have permission to advance; over and out.

Obsidian Forum Diplomacy Game 2 (OBS-2)
Me either. Now you understand why I prefered a reset from the beggining - the game is made for fun for all parties involved. However, when people miss turns, not only is is unfortunate for themselves - but it also detracts from the overall quality of the game. Naturally I'm not berating you for you absence; I'm merely letting you know how it feels from the perspective of those who were denied the opeing turn.

Nah, it's aliens. It's got to be those damn aliens - they're always responsible for everything dodgy going on in the world. As soon as they show their midget faces I'm sure we'll all unite against those anal-probing toters - Jews, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists (okay, maybe not Buddhists), Ninjas & Jedi alike.

Us Speed Diplo players are always up for it. The only reason we tend to play the first year or so Slo-Mo is for the benefit of newbies, Skynet.

That's the dictionary's definition. And if the dictionary (which I linked) is no longer allowed to define words in our language, then civilized debate ends completely. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You can look at a glass of water as say its half empty or half full. Our definitions are irrelevant to the Muslim mindset, as they're not constrained by our point of view - and have their own variation in perception. How can you argue that our definiton is right whilst theirs is wrong?
-
Gaza Strip
That is not what I said. Freedom fighters target oppressive GOVERNMENTS. Terrorists target innocent CIVILIANS. But that's our definition. In the Islamic world a freedom fighter can even be one who practices their Holy Jihad.

Ah, feel the love. And who said we didn't have any "foaming-at-the-mouth" political debates anymore?

But by those "allowances" wouldn't Palestine's actions just be another means to the same "gains"? Its all condoning death for land and resourses <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem is, an international union will not accept proactive aggression in conquest as validity for gain of land. Also, your argument brings up another issue: How does one differentiate between terrorist and freedom fighter?
-
Gaza Strip
That doesn't mean that Isreal should give the land to Palestine. If you feel Isreal doesn't have a right to that land, then perhaps it should go to Egypt. It should be noted that Egypt hasn't made any claim to that land since 1967. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What I believe is that given Israel was attacked (and did not initiate or provoke the war), they should be allowed to retain their military gains provided any existing international bodies of representation decide otherwise.
-
Gaza Strip
For those who argue that the Jewish people have equitable claim to their land (which absolves any insinuation trespassing intentions), due to the mandate provided by the UN upon formation of the nation of Isreal in 1948, remember one thing: The territory gains from the 1967 war were not UN sanctioned Israeli land - the Sinai and Gaza Strip were indeed captured from Egypt, East Jerusalem as was the West Bank from Jordan and Golan Heights from Syria. From the Muslims point of view to go to war justifiable, God's will in fact. From the perspective of the West, such warmongering was unacceptable. However the fact remains that Israel retained most of the captured gains due to their instrinsic strategic advantages. This is what constitutes a sizable portion of the reasoning behind the proposed concept of Israeli "occupancy".

You are correct - btw, should we throw in German Captivate for the Cardies? It could make sense as they do have a presence near DS9. - T.O.M.B.S, vol 2
