  1. Usually in the less developed parts of the world. Rationality will be the new "religion". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats very brave of you to wish to be a rationalist. I recommend you read some stuff on Hegel. He was big on rationalism. I personally disagree with him, because being a rationlist means that natural law determines you, thus you have no free will.
  2. Do you know who Julius Divius is? MOD EDIT-Fixed quote and post. tarna
  3. Yes i agree, and that evolved from Egytian religion. There are also great parrallels between Caesar and Jesus, and even with Siddhartha (Buddha).
  4. Why are others confused about truth? because to others it simply cannot be known. It is impossible to reach. Do you know the truth to how god actually works, do you know how that entity actually thinks? No, thus god works in mysterious ways. If everything is based on a first assumption then nothing is absolutely certain. If nothing is absolutely certain then everything is subjective. "Truth is subjectivity". Kierkagaard a danish christian philosopher said this.
  5. Thats fine, im not saying what you believe in is not true. I only mean to challenge you. If you really intrested in Jesus's life i recommend you might compare Jesus with Siddhartha, and also with Caesar, there are remarkable parrallels. May the force be with you!
  6. Exactly, im willing to doubt Sacrates's existance, are you willing to doubt Jesus's?
  7. You really know truth. Your smarter then Socrates! (w00t)
  8. Goodness is its own reward i believe. Whoever needs a god to be good, please stay on God. I am not against either, i just choose not to believe.
  9. Im a humanist
  10. (w00t) The Video with the outdoors men visiting chimp island is hilarious! I love the narrator, the narrator alone deserves a nobel peace prize.
  11. If anybody here has problems with religion, religion does have its purposes. True, some of you guys might disagree with religions, but the believers do not. Religion saves the religious. Science save the scientists, and philolosphy saves the philosopher all from self destruction. A belief may bring meaning to a life. So to rag on about someone elses meaning, your asking for trouble even though you don't know it. As long as everybody is happy and checking others when they step beyond their boundry then everything is ok. A good person is a good person. To those of you who do have a problem with religion i recomend finding a way not to, because in the end your just hurting yourself. Its a form of prejudice really, I've been there because i didn't know better, If your strong enough you'll dig yourself out of the hole. I recomend having a look at Reletivism, and Humanism, even Recontructionism.
  12. Not as expensive as a processor or Graphic card, but still they range from about $90 bucks to $230. I would call that kinda pricey, yet I would still buy a cheaper CPU, or Graphic card to get the better MoBo. This way i can always upgrade to a better cpu or Graphic card.
  13. Even with a penny pinchers attitude, i think its best to get the BEST motherboard out there because its the last thing you ever want to upgrade. Your motherboard defines and limits your computers potential.
  14. I still like this one personally. It also comes with a built in sound processor, it will eat up a few more processes from your CPU with built in but you save more money. This one is also AMD, compatible with SLI. You might also want to consider SATA Hardrives, i find them easier to play with, and they are suppose to be a bit faster naturally. both motherboardes, yours and this one i see support SATA.
  15. Asus A8N32-SLI
  16. unreal tournament 2004! GarGHH!
  17. If your planning on 2 graphic cards from the beggining i would think excessive. Really im just thinking for upgradability again. This is so you can add another graphic card in the future. It would be a shame to have to throw away your old card when its time to upgrade wouldn't it? The downside to SLI is that you need the same 2 graphic cards for SLI to work. The downside to Crossfire is that you can use 2 different graphic cards but the slow card will force the other to run at its speed.
  18. I have no idea what those things are. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SLI (NVidia) & Crossfire (ati) compatibility is when a motherboard supports 2 graphic cards. So it will have 2 PCI express X16 slots on it thus with 2 graphic cards you get a significant improvement. Not twice the speed but a good gain.
  19. Keep in mind upgradability, this is key to me. If you can make sure that the CPU type your motherboard is using will have a future then that would be a winner. I would buy AMD, they are wiping the floor with Intel right now. Get a Mobo with SLI or Crossfire Compatibilty so in the future you can add another one for performance while not wasting your old one. For a case, I chose Antec because it had room for 5 fans and a great powersupply, all at a pretty cheap price. Plus it was built like a rock Soundcards aren't too important. You'd be fine with an onboard or el cheapo Soundblaster, do not pay more than 70 bucks if so id say. If you are planning on buying a monitor, LCD's at DELL are CHEAP, then again CRT's are going cheap too. Toms Hardware Store This place is great at finding the lowest prices.
  20. Regarding the imblance to the force being illogical. Buddhism which is similar to Jedism, core principal is that of the Middle Path, to not stray to either extreme. Not to Gorge on Food <-------> starve yourself. More related to Neither extreme of Nihilism <--------> Absolutism. Buddha's Assumption is that the middle path is the healthiest.
  21. Well I finally put my PC back together. TO install this fan i had to take the motherboard out and put a reinforcment plate on the back!, but the screws weren't in the package so my computer sat in peices for a week. ohwell, now i just have to OC it. My CPU temp is at 32C
  22. hehe, eldar's also a little more politically to the right of center than commissar. not to suggest that eldar is a fanatical right wing evangelical and commissar is a looney left liberal communist, just they are on opposite sides of the spectrum. who's confusing you two anyway, commissar? certainly not me. hehe... taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And your a fascist. :D
  23. I play Unreal Tournament 2004 Team Deathmatch quite a bit and its on there too. No its not just Yanks either, even saying that is stereotyping. Really its down to the person who is reading. You can let it bother you or not. The whole world is prejudice... except me, i hate all people equally.
  24. Don't forget the ati Radeon 9500 Pro. I got mine when it first came out for $150, then the radeon 9600 pro came out right after for $200. but the 9600 was slower, The 9500 pro was almost as fast as the 9700. I think i still have it laying around not even being used.... damn shame. Anyone want it? EDIT: Nevermind, its in my Girlfriends PC, sorry guys! EDIT:EDIT: Does it seem as though video cards are coming out faster and faster? The 6000 series and 800 series from Nvidia and ATI seem like they just came out 1 year ago. Is that the norm, 1 year then a new batch come in?
  25. I just played Half Life 2: Lost Coast for the first time. Its only a demo to show off graphics, It was entertaining for the 12 minutes it took to explore it.
