  1. "Epic's fanbase mostly consists of FPS fans,And I doubt they'd support such a change" Can't speak for them; but speaking as a BIo fan who had LOTS of doubts about RT combat in JE; I say they'll support them if they'd do it right. If you want, just do a search of my old posts from like a year + ago on the JE baords and you'd see I had doubts about it. Not now though. :D "Then how bout EOTB 2?" Same crap; same pile of poo.
  2. "BIO switched early." That's irrelevant. If anything, the more experience in game development you have; the likelihood of such a switch would be easier to pull. Stronger fanbase, and the knowledge of actually make a game is oodles important. "And I can't think of many other company's that made this switch" Not to many companies have likely wanted to... "EOTB a bad game" That's an understandment. I'd put it with the POR2s of the world.
  3. "True, but they never rushed them" They tried to with NWN. And, I beat if we did research neither MDK2 and SS got lots of development time. Heck, SS was being worked on at the same time that BG1 was being made and BIO wans't as big back then... "I don't know about that but IMO Dark Sun was not a bomb" It's a known fact that between the time where the GB games were reigning supreme, and BG came into play D&D games were the awful. Games that EOTB, and DTU are just a few of the examples. "BG-Great RPG MDK2-Good action game" Yet, BIO managed to make the leap... "They're good FPS developers.RPGs and FPSs are very different" So, are action and RPs. Are you saying BIO is "special" and Epic isn't and they are incapable of making such a switch? Hmm..
  4. "Please god have mercy" Please, your faked horror isn't being bought. if this makes it to tv; you are gonna watch it.
  5. "Of course they did well but they also had a great publisher, great liscence and a great RPG engine." You mean that same publisher that tried to steal from them,? That same publisher that is basically finished now? YEAH. Greta publisher that. :D Great license? Hmm.. Before BG1; the D&D license was in limbo with bomb after bomb. How many bombs do you see with the SW licesne? certainly not at the level of the D&D license. Well, it was *their* engine. Did you know the IE wa soriginally designed for RTS games? WOWSERS! "If i remeber right it was also their second game(MDK2,apeared after BG,right?)" And, it still wans't their first and though I haven't played MDK2 the differences between that and BG are monumental. "Epic have none of the above + they have a great FPS backgroud and I doubt their gonna throw it all away for a freak experiment " If they're half as good game devlopers as everyone claims them to be they'd be able to do if they wish.
  6. "more open-minded fans" When it comes to BIO; there are very few open minds. You eitehr really like them or really dislike them. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule.
  7. "Bioware have already ****ed up with the bollox that was NWN!" Yeha, boy did they ever screw up with game. I mean, millions of purchases, 2 expansions, downloadable mods being bought, fanmade mods still being made and play, a sequel on the way, and the longest lasting game I ever played. yeah; but according to YOU they screwed up. WHY, BIO, WHY? If that's what you call screwing up. I wodner what you think being successful means. "Making an RPG is hard ,much harder than a FPS\Fight game" Eh. You gotta start somewhere. the premiere RPG maker shad to make their first sometime. Afterall, BIo's first RPG was BG1... and, well, last i checked, the 'rookies' did well.. Hmm... As for question, after playing JE; I don't really care if KOTOR series is continued. I found a better, much improved version of it anyways.
  8. "You've already mentioned combat escape blockage" That's the main one. Everything else is little things that dd up. Overall, they mean nothing; but it makes the game come up alittle short to BG2 (which doesn't mean much sicne BG 2 is tied with FO2 as my fvaorite game) so that is ahrd to beat... Still, it is posisble; but doubtful...
  9. "So it reached BG2 level now?" Role-playing wise, yes. But, not overall. It has some quirks that hurts it for me...
  10. "Its either good guy, or bad guy." Really? Once again, I point you in the direction of the fellow who has the debt with Gao the Greater. How is that a good vs. evil choice. I tell you; it most certainly is not. It may be a Palm vs. Fist choice; but good vs. evil; i think not. "There are no truely gut wrenching decisions, like in KotOR2 where you save a life and Kreia presents you with a scenario that you just saved a murderer." Oh please. That wans't gutwrenching. That wa spure manipulation on the game's part. It was also very much black and white. OMG You just svaed a murderer! LOLOLOLLIPOP How is that NOT black and white? "I had a total of 5 roleplaying choices over the course of 2 hours of playing." That would beat either of the KOTOR series. Or the BG series. "But the stores don't pull those dates out thin air." That's true. They push.. or so I say... fart it out of the behinds. It doesn't matter what the store says. BIO had no release date outside of 'When its done'. "That's a pretty bold statement" It's also true.
  11. "Chosen one with natural (perhaps supernatural *In spooky voice*) gifts, whose destiny is, of course, to save the world/empire/land/insert area here." I coulda told ya this months gao. In fact, BIo themselevs told us this months ago. "I'm not a fan of the over-the-top visuals for guard (the yellow force field" You mean block? Yeah, that does look chessy. They should just get rid of it and let you block 'normally'. "They might be there UNDER the gameplay, but I don't have to deal with them." That's because it's 100% RT. "(lets be honest, I have not seen much in the way of roleplaying yet)" You aren't paying attention then. How did you deal with Smiling Mountain's Chalenge against the one female student? How 'bout that guy at the beach who owes a debt to one Gao the Greater? 'How bout the merchant? This game has more role-playing than every other BIO game including the BG series. Game over.
  12. "Yes they did I order it from Ebgames about year half ago. Thats when it date for release was March 2004. then it got moved to may then Nov. then april 8 then then march 3 then finially march 13. I been watching for this game for a long time. So it did come out later then bioware was planning." Nice try. EB may have pushed back their erroneous release date; but BIo didn't. They didn't have any release date to push. The stories just like to assume they know. Maybe it came out before or after BIow anted it to; but there was no push back for the release date as there was no release date.
  13. "But it should be good since the pushed it back over a year." Um. No they didn't. Kind of ahrd to push the rleease date back when there was no release date until like Janaury of this year...
  14. "Collective makes action games, they have no experience with RPG systems" And? this is irreleavnt. When BIO made BG1 they had never made a RPG either, did they now? Companies always have to do a first to make a seocnd or a third. If rookie PRG developers never got a chance to make a RPG we'd eventually have no RPG developers. Use logic, please.
  15. Don't be sad. That's happy time. I have a new crush, and her name is Dawn Star. :"> (just to get this semi back on target).
  16. "Wait a sec - we're actually agreeing on something? WTF?" You musta got a brain transplant. You are smarter now.
  17. "What is it then?" That would be a spoiler. "So you still think it's as good as BG? " Yes. "My opinion is law - yours is not. I win, you lose, game over." -Volourn" Game over. I'm surprise you remember that quote. " "Interestingly enough, this amazing RT combat system would lend itself perfectly to multiplayer support - again unlike KotOR's." Hell, it's better than many MP combat games like the various Mortal Kombat games. <>
  18. Don't drop your pants now; it's not what you think. LOL
  19. Shoulda listened to me. I always speak the truth. Anyways, my strategy is different: I've focused on Mind, and Body as I'm boosting charm. My main styles are legendary strike, and ice shards. My strategy is mostly using legendary strike and dodge. On mass enemies I use focus mode, and ice shard to lower the numbers. on tough battles I bring in chi, and switch styles and then pray it'll work. LOL Once again, I have to say: Anyone who thinks KOTOR is better than JE is either ddrunk or a SW fnaboy. Otherwise, there is no logical reason to think this way. And, oh, any game where you get to see B00BIES and get to say the following: "Give your pet a peanut." automatically wins. :D Good job.
  20. "I addicted to star wars geekery?" That's the problem right there. You are a SW fanboy. Nothingw rong with that, btw. Just sayin'. i like both KOTOR stories; but JE's is just as good. I wouldn't say better; but just as good. It's the Palm/Fist and the combat that makes me like JE more than either KOTOR. I'd rate the KOTORs in the early 80s (both of 'em) and JE likely in the mid to high 80s. Maybe 90s depending what occurs later on. "Well for starters I never cared much for a fight." Heh, I don't look for games with figthing. It's not normally my number one issue. that said, if games are gonna ahve lots of figthing like in the KOTORs and JE; the combat should try to be fun and challenging - JE does that; the KOTORs don't. Like I said, it might even end up better than BG1!!!
  21. HE SOLD OUT! HE SOLD OUT! HE SOLD OUT! P.S. Someone had to say it...
  22. "Well, it's "sort of" an RPG." How can anyone claim that KOTOR or BG are role-playing games then claim that JE sin't. Outside of the full RT combat; it offers most everything a RPG had. WOWSERS! "Where's your boo. Boooo." He's dead. "And JE is not an RPG. It is semi-RPG for console with just few elements of a traditional CRPG. Like ROTS video game No comparison to KOTOR or NWN." Really? What makes KOTOR a RPG; but not JE? And, don't say KOTOR's tb combat. The only thing that KOTOR does better than JE role-playing wise are the non colbat skills, and even then JE can brag about 3 different dialogue skills. JE has better role-playing choices and the 'Open Palm' vs. 'Closed Fist is done much better than 'Dark Side' vs. 'Light Side'. And, the story and characteers are about equal. If KOTOR is a RPG then JE better be. KOTOR, while good, is sooo overrated. JE is way better in it as a RPG and a combat game in almost evry way that matters. of course, it's not SW so it gets poo pooed. LOL
  23. "Since you've played both JE and Vampire:tM-B, I was curious about the combat system. Are they similar where both "twitch" gaming and strategy are meshed? Or is JE's combat system different than Bloodlines'?" This is an easy question to asnwer. As you recall; though I liked BL; I hated the combat. the two combats while both RT are different. While your character stats and abilities do matter in combat; the player's ability for both decent reflex (you do need good reflexes like any half decent action combat); but you also need good strategy or you won't get very far... I love the combat in JE. As for quality, it's real simple. JE is not tiwtch; at least not to me. If I just go in pressing random buttons I die. It's simple as that. I probably could have cut down half my deaths if I actually took certain combats more seriously. ie. I would enter abattle with 2-3 bandits after killing a few earlier very easy - next thing I knew I was on my ass crying about suffering through long load times. of course, when i tried, by approaching the battle with something resembling intelligence; I fare much better. And, oh, be real careful with enemies with long weapons... They're annoying. And, enemies with Ice Shard. Not fun. (but in a good way). Sure, you do have o press a lot of buttons; but it never feels like a chore as there is reason for it. And, oh, quite simply if anyoe says they can beat this game by just pressing the a buton; they are quite frankly lyimg. I cna't guarnatee that you'll like it (as it always comes down to personal opinion); but that part is pure balony. I hope I managed to answer your question in all that nonsense...
  24. "Looking at the back of the manual, it looked liked up to 200 Biowarians alone literally were involved with the project." Ya, that's a lot. just bec arefult hough as they even include a 'receptionist' in the credits. LOL And, yeah, extremely polished game. "unless you mean 75% barrel searching time." If you are gonna exaggerate numbers to such a degree then why waste time. That said, good news for barrel loevers - they live on JE!
