Dungeons can have as much role-playing as you want just like towns can lack it just as much as you want.

"A good experience for me is an immersive story. That includes character development, and i haven't heard anything about that yet." It does. "A good game needs a "suspension of dibelief". KOTOR had it." JE > KOTOR in terms of story, characters, and immersiveness. The only things KOTOR has over JE is freedom of movement (barely), and non combat skills excpet for dialogue ones.

First screenshot of the guy coming down the hill looks awesome. R00fles! ther eis no magic; but there are 3 types of magic and no raising skeles always for necros. WTF? Either there is magic or ther eis none. Chhose, for golly sakes. One of those 6 races better be dwarves! Bah. Hopefully, it'll be better than Gothic 3... I saw enough good things in Gothic 2 that unlike the ES series; I'm willing to give Gothic 3 a chance to Prove. Me. Wrong.

"Well I read side quests are only in chapter I,II and III with the rest being just a beat-then-up." "Trust me, there's a hell of lot of role-playing in this game. Not only are there 3-5 way to complete every quest, but completing certain quests in certain ways opens up *futher* quests." The opening up furtehr side quests is a very nice touch too. Not to mention games aside from Arcanum using this feature as well as JE does. SPOILER: Don't read the following Jags if you want to be spoiled: *cough* chapter 4 *cough* ......... A decent continuation of the story; but only one real role-playing option from what I saw and that was due to my romance; not the actual story.. Hopefully, chapter 5 gets back on track. It doens't matter if it's linear; but the role-playing has to come back. Story is still good though in ch4... And, it's very short. Took me about 40 minutes, and I was taking m time as usual. ZERO side quests...

"I mean have to grab JE this summer." Don't get too hyped up. There are people out there bashing the game. Some guy even claims to have beat it with NEVER getting below half health. And, others try to claim that BGDA2 and KOTOR2 and BG have more role-playing than JE even though there are almsot alwasy 3-5 ways to complete every quest in the game. One example, is a 'side quest' known as the Arena. If you played KOTOR's 'tournament; and like it you ; you will hate it when you play the Arena wishing to yourself that the torunament was even remotely on the level of the Arena. Here is a very slight spoiler from early in the game with what is a very small side thing. It's actually hard to call it a quest as it occurs during exactly one convo. There's this guy who owes a debt to a major npc (whom you'll meet later and I won't mention). You can offer to pay it for hm (OP), refuse to do anything (noncommital), or tell him to take personally responsible and find a way to deal with the situation on his own (CF). You notice how none of the options are evil? Anywyas, like I said a small thing right? No biggy, right? Not quite. Later on, you are fighting a bunch of said major npcs henchmen. IF,m say, you had told him to deal with it himself, he will actually be one of those you have to figh. Why? He took YOUR advice, and is settling your debt. WOWSERS! Once aagin, as above, this 'side quest' is so minor it might not even be fair to actually classify it as a side quest sinc eit's accomplished in one exchange between you and him... I could go on with more examples; but gotta save the spoils...

Yeah, I like the followers; but in combat they are pretty useless. best to put them on support so they regenerate your chi, focus, or health while you do fighting...
-
I've heard that those two were overpowered. I don't really use them so I wouldn't know.. Perhaps, that's why I've been finding it as one of the more challenging games. Just the way I created my character. I tend to use Legenardy Strike, Ice Shard,Heavenly Wave, Chi Thief (I bet EVERYONE uses this one!), and now Jade Golem transmutaion which was the only way I beat the certain female Assassin just after you firts get it + the Ravager fellow in the Arena... i also use Dragon Sword which is also cool. So much varied ways to play your character. I'm gonna focus on magic and intuition next time through...

"Until that Tolkien Rip-off comes out, then staying true to being BioWare fanboy you have to say its better that JE." Yup. That would be a logicla assumption.... if I thought KOTOR wa sbetter than NWN... and, I thought NWN was better than BG2... Oh yeah, i forgot, i don't think that. So, that begs the question, why are you trolling?

Yes.

Jade Empire, and Neverwinter Nights. I was playing some Arcanum 'til JE came into the picture...
-
JE ROCKS! Third best ROLE-PLAYING GAME ever!!!
-
MW is most definitely garbage. He was 100% correct.
-
Nah. KOTOR2 had its good points. It's not all bad.
-
"Did you not smell some Torment in KotOR 2?" yeah; but it's rotten eggs. JE may borrow some story elements from BG; but unlike KOTOR2 with PST; it does it the right way... If you are gonna steal your own ideas at least do it right!
-
"Ok I get it you hate every little thing abou MW" Not everything. It's huge. And, the character creation system itself is pretty good. "Even Jeremy Soule's music?" Neutral. It's ahrd for me to judge MW's music since I didn't play for the long. "So did you finish JE" No. Just reached chapter 4 though. People say it's short; but I've played it for just over 23 hours and that's not counting reloads. "Is the story just as good as it was earlier?" Yes. 'So far, it feels more like an adventure game with RPG-elements, not that it's necessarily a bad thing." Again, why are games like BG or BG2 considered RPGs when they don't even have dialogue skills,a dn the only thing you slect at level up pretty much are weapon profiencies. Every quest has a good 2-3 ways minimum to complete. That surely beats the Bgs eries and beats KOTOR as well. What action/adventure games allows you to that., Seriosuly, I think the problem is they see JE's RT combat and automatically classify it as an adventure game when it has more role-playing than most role-playing games - BIO or not. Hmm.. "Some hilarious party members" Hilariously twisted in some cases.. "Linear, way more than KotOR so far" Way more? I dunno about that. the only advantage KOTOR has is the interplanetary movemtn; and for chapters 2-4 it seems you can go back and forth between the different palces. Lots of movement there... "but i smell some BG to it." That much is true - espicially the end of ch1...

"except the engine" Uglies engine ever. Pehraps the only graphics engine where when looking at it I wanted to puke. It would have been the first time I puked sicne I was a little kid. Disgusting, disgusting! And, elt's not forget the awful combat, the horrid dialogue system which is more like a pizza menu. Beh.

"Think about the small number of MW" I try not to think of MW at all. Sorry.
-
"And the Aurora toolset is not "better", Morrowind Construction Set is more powerful that the Aurora toolset." No. "dare" because SW:KotOR was a Xbox RPG (that are rare), the first Star Wars cRPG and one of the best Star Wars games." Those are the reasons why you rate KOTOR over JE? You jokin' right? You do realize that unlike KOTOR; Je is solely x-box? Wow. What impresisve feats for KOTOR. It is a x-box RPG like JE, and was the first KOTOR CRPG. Give the thing a medal. LOL JE is way better. Pretty much everything KOTOR does well; JE does betetr and what KOTOR does poorly ie. combat; JE squashes it like a bug with penaut butter on top. Anyone who thinks that KOTOR brought anything 'new' to the gaming world is drunk. "And like it or not Baldur

Wow... just wow... I have such mixed feelings!
Volourn replied to DarthValia's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Exactly. All BIO has said is that there might in some distant future they might make a PC version. Not that it's assured or even close to a given. A JE2 depending on the sales will likely have a better chance to see the light of the day.. -
"Only thing that NwN brought that was "new" was the DM mode." The toolset is also better than other ones. The longetitvty is also amazing. veyr few games have the amount of people still playing it like NWN does unless its one of the best MMORPGS. "Everything that NwN had already existed in other RPGs, the fact BioWare made a "user friendly module creator" does not change the fact such tools existed before, either created by 3rd parties or by the developer itself." And? Yet, you dare bring up BG and KOTOR. Exactly, what special things did they bring to the genre that other games didn't do before them? It's not always about what came first; but how well you do it. NWN is the only game to get the DM Client right, have a toolset that is useable by many and still have lots of depth and power behind it. What exctly does KOTOR bring to the table? And, as much as I like BG, what does it bring that makes it so special in regards to being 'new'? If you can explain those two things to me; I'd be pretty impressed; but sicne you ignore the mention of KOTOR I surely won't hold my breath...

"Anyway, I'm happy to see that there are games that you like, Volourn." Hey, I like LOTS of games! And, most of them aren't BIo ones, even! "

Wow... just wow... I have such mixed feelings!

"unless forcasted presales down signifigantly or they found a block of time to do the conversion, I wouldnt hold my breath on a PC release." Actually, if sales ar epoor they likely wouldn't even think about bothering with a PC release. Why would they waste time porting a failure? Weird... As for a PC version being released this summer/fall; I am doubtful. That's a lot of work to be done in such a short time... -
Like I said, close minded. P.S. NWN brought a heck of alot more to the RPG table than KOTOR did. A lot more.

Who do you think should/will make KOTOR 3?
Volourn replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah. Because, they'd have hundreds of people working on it. LOL <> -

"imagine if they decided to make a football game" LOL I have Madden to play. Thy'd have to be near perfect to pull that off. <> Don't know why i'm 'defending' Epic. I don't even care for them. (w00t)
