Season finale of Walking Dead kicked butt. Reminds me of last season of Breaking Bad, where it was slow and plodding for so long and then suddenly it exploded into awesomeness the last 3-4 episodes. Not quite the B.Bad level of awesome, but still awesome. Went from "meh, might stop watching" to "Can't wait for Season3!"

Never heard of this Beamdog thing. But if it means I have to install yet another 3rd party client to start/run the game....then no. I'm so tired of needing a piece of software (other than the O/S...) to run a single program I may be interested in. If it's something more akin to Steam and potentially useful outside of that one thing, then...maybe. But I doubt it.

It's official. I don't understand the world or the "current generation" on many things anymore. I'm a gonna lock myself in my room now and pretend it's still 1977. :D

Hm. I'm semi-interested, since it could give me the reason/excuse to revisit BG1 after all these years, but it really depends on what they mean by "a re-forged version of the Infinity Engine with a variety of modern improvements." ...I'm not someone who thinks "modern" necessarily=improvement, so a big ? there. **edit: reading the twitter feed, looks like some potential positive things

I wouldn't say I want to play it "badly" but I do wish I could try it out. The videos I saw a while back were quite interesting. But yeah...no PS3 so.. :/ heh

Yeah, to me it's dependent on the wage vs. the hours they're actually working. If it's an hour or two, fine. A little money for simple side work that doesn't involve something "dangerous." But if it falls much under min. wage than it seems more like exploitation. Perhaps well-intentioned, but still. I like the quote at the bottom of the article, from someone named Adam Hanft:

Cameron is half-expected to be a big spender tho. (Abyss, T2, etc). He's notorious for it. heh According to wiki, PotC1 was made for $140 million & had a worldwide gross of over $650million, and PotC $225million and over 1 billion. So yeah, it's more typical to spend less on the 1st one, and if it's a hit, then you go big with the 2nd. Don't know what Disney was thinking. And, uh...haven't seen any movies this week, but The Walking Dead's last episode was great, and the season ender next week looks to be a fun one. Which is nice, since most of the 2nd season was so slow & tedious.

This bites hard. I'm starting to fear for Obsidian. Sympathies to those affected and here's hoping for things to start turning around soon.

What you're all forgetting is that the studio doesn't take in the entire gross reported. They split it with the theaters. So if we say that budget+marketing=$350-400 million and the theaters take approx. half of that, basically Disney needed it to be a $800million+ (worldwide) theatrical movie. So far, the last numbers I saw were it was hitting approx. $100million (worldwide). Now as mentioned, with DVD sales later, it's possible it won't be a total "bust" in the end, but of course it's not what Disney/a studio wanted to see at all. If Disney thinks the film had good enough response (review/audience scores wise etc), as it may have, they may still make a sequel, but I bet it won't have such a high budget. Hahaha. Their mistake, marketing wise, was to seemingly assume "everyone" would know who the heck John Carter is. I sure don't. Plus, the ads I saw on TV make it look like nothing more than, oh, say, another "Scorpion King" type movie combined with Star Wars prequels fantasy, which is a total zzzz of an impression. I still have no interest in seeing it, tbh. I'm tired of action movies with shirtless muscled dudes flexing their biceps as they perform wild action sequences surrounded by huge CGI armies. Or whatever.

You'll get over it. Signing up doesn't mean you have to live on twitter, or something. I barely use it. :D Yesterday I spent too much time discovering all of Parry Gripp's silly 'net meme songs/videos and playing some on repeat, much to the annoyance of my spouse. Today I'm still trying to get over the guilt of possibly taking Mr. Grey (cat) back to the shelter. Turns out he has litter box & feeding issues that I don't want to deal with for the next decade or more. He's so sweet/cute but our house is too small & my time/energy too low for a young pet with constant - vs. occasional - issues. I've tried so many things to make it better but...sigh...this decision is going to take me a while to make.

But...but...the CSI series, characters love flailing their arms all over the place. It's so much more efficient! Rostre has it right that you don't have to use it as a touch screen, far as I could tell. If you're using it on your tablet or something, sure, but on the PC, no touchscreen required. Don't make that a basis for not trying/liking it. There's plenty of other reasons for that. imo.

Puss and Boots - predictable? Yes. Humpty=annoying chr? Yes. Still cute and sometimes hilarious? Oh Yes. Butt-scooting as a dance move. rofl. Just started watching Life's Too Short via HBO. Show itself is only fitfully amusing (altho I love the short jokes, because I can relate somewhat) but that Liam Neeson scene...bwahahaha....funniest thing I've seen all year.

Thanks!

It's crap. The "Desktop" portion is at least reminiscent of the typical Windows "look" we're all used to, but it still has it's ugh factors. No default Programs Start menu, for example. But seems like you can create one to use. Sorta. The Metro stuff is bloody awful. It might work fine on/for a phone/tablet, but for a desktop....no, just no. And you can't (thus far) disable it.

Please explain. What is "Sawyer's mod" and what does it do. Also, where do you get it.

Me either. Then again, it doesn't matter to me. If there's a market for it, why not. That market just wouldn't include me.

My responses would be akin to Gorth's, so I'm not going to type out my own version of it. ....I will say that playing games for me personally is just a form of escapism, pure & simple. Fills the time. Like watching TV/movies or reading a novel. Sometimes I want to do one, sometimes I want to do one of the others.

Watched my husband fiddle with the Windows 8 pre-release build. From my perspective, it sucks. The Metro stuff especially. If this is what the "masses" end up wanting as a PC O/S....I am disappoint. Edit: Also....RIP Davy Jones. Your cheerful voice will be in my playlists forever.

Captain America. I just read some of the fairly glowing reviews for it, and I feel like I must have watched a different movie. Oh, it had some charm, especially in the beginning, and I liked that it wasn't all super-huge CGI spectacle most of the time. But it lacked cohesive characterization for the most part, not to mention the jerky editing and pacing of scene timing & placing. Half way thru I stopped caring about any character at all. I felt like it might've been a pretty good 4 hour movie that was then forcibly edited/truncated to fit into a 2 hr. time frame. The biggest redeeming factor was the Capt. America sells war bonds montage...that was cute/funny. I liked Iron Man, Thor and even the silly Green Lantern better. I rewatched some of that one not long ago, when it was on TV. Oddly, it wasn't quite as horrid on 2nd watch as it was on the 1st watch. Maybe because I was viewing it more as a comedy, and it sort of worked that way.

I'm the same way. Today is one of those days where I feel like I never quite woke up, but I did manage to organize my office a bit. Later, I'm going to eat some cheap Chinese food under the watchful stare of felines who think they belong at the dinner table, and then perhaps a film or two.

I'm unsure about Origins & what they're doing (I'll have to research this more, since I don't know much about it yet), but I'd agree with this in principle, at least. Online purchase/game services is fine, but I wish it would be more like retail stores. eg, I could buy a disc at Best Buy, or Fry's, or Target, or whatever, based on price and what store I prefer to support/is closer to me etc etc..not locked into buying a specific game only in one retail outlet. Online purchasing should work similarly, imo, or else it's not really true competition.

Might & Magic7. I miss games like these. For me it still beats games like Skyrim hands down in terms of gameplay immersion.

My 2nd dwarf ham died tonight (my avatar). She was my fave. For a tiny mindless rodent, she had amazing "personality". My office suddenly feels too quiet. No rustling, no squeaky wheel. I got used to the small company while I'm computing. I may need to get another one.

Gorgeous day today - almost Spring. Won't last, but I'm enjoying it. Sitting outside in the sun, eating lunch, whilst my cats gaze out at me curiously from the windows. Still feeling rather old...mostly physically (minor ailments/fatigue) but a little mentally too...but days like today...taking a deep breath and it's a fine life.

I just saw this. The trailer, at least, has me stoked. If split screen is on PC I'll be one happy camper, too (for me & hubby). Crossing my fingers for the sequel to be a game I like. Axton's a hottie, too. If hubby wants to play that character when we play co-op, I won't complain.
