The nice weather went away and it's back to rain and wind. I once painted my parent's bedrooms and all of the yard's planter boxes (they spanned the entire yard fencing) for extra money as a kid. I have hated house painting ever since and have never done it myself again.

^ Darn, I was hoping you could tell me there was a simple trick for it I didn't notice right away. Or maybe that one is designed to frustrate Achievement hunters. hehee. I think there's close to 100 total, something like that. I enjoyed some of the Ancient Magic increase spots challenges a bit more. I still haven't upgraded my broom even once. I always suck at driving/flying type stuff in games, I can't even smoothly/quickly pop the balloons and I figured I'd repeatedly fail any flying quest. It's fast enough, I don't need an upgrade.

Well, sometimes people mean "I did all the ones I need for max inventory" or they mean "I did every one for the 100% Achievement" etc. Never know, heh. I think I have 12-14 left on the map but they're largely so boring at this point I usually ignore/don't bother. Once in a while I'll try to do one or two at a time but often...not. Anyway, it was this one, in the lower half of the world. I didn't spend a lot of time on it or anything, just saw the obvious first attempt/failed and repairo didn't work on the wood rubble near that platform, and then said "nope."
-
Did you do the one where you had to shove it so it makes it over a cliff-gap into the bowl, or else it falls and rolls down a mile away into the beach. I attempted that one once, failed, said "Nope, not shoving it all the way back up to this cliffside" and haven't gone back to try it again. I thought there might be a Repairo for it but if there was I couldn't find/highlight it.

Dark corners are fun.

I heard there's a reason - outside of Achievements - to at least play the beginning of the game again as a Hufflepuff. I may do that. Not the whole game, just up to a certain point. It's a shame because I'd love more reason to replay/dwell in the created world, but there really isn't any, outside of self-imposed difficulty challenges. Not every game has to have major replayability, so it's fine, but when I like a game environment enough, I just wish there was a little more to do, to stay in it, is all.

I haven't tried that specifically but I think it's largely doing some of the UE4 Engine.ini tweaks I've done myself. Possibly more in-depth/more entries I'm sure. Works for many, but I think the reason some may not get the boost they're hoping for (read some of the comments on the mod) could be that such parameters may need more tweaking for their specific systems. Or some of the parameters used, on their systems shouldn't be applied, stuff like that. So if it doesn't work for some reason, could still try to look at/adjust some of those things. I just did a few basic ones and got a lot of frame pacing improvement, maybe a small bit of fps gain/stability, and have left it at that. My only remaining issue is the game still sometimes likes to CTD (very randomly) maybe once every 2-3 hours ... or it doesn't for 6+ hours. Super random. lol.

Yeah, that was a decent one. The design of some of the puzzles in the game, even some of the treasure vaults, seem nicely designed where the objective or general tactic was easy or immediate to see but sometimes took me several tries to get the right pattern/exact routine or figure out the right "tools" or whatever so it still gives a sense of satisfaction. I wish tho that the player-character didn't give verbal cues or "hey that must be where the quest-person wanted me to go!" constantly - not just re: puzzles but thru the entire game. In the long run that aspect was a negative for me. I would've preferred a silent protagonist in this case.

TLDR: I haven't quite finished the main story but I'd give Hogwart's Legacy something like a 7/10. For me, the first half of the experience, more or less, is the better half. Don't take that too negatively - for me a 7 is still a quite positive rating, the game simply could have used a little more complexity here and there to keep it from becoming too repetitive or "pointless" (outside of following the Story I mean). EDIT: one system would be consequences for some actions/dialogues to add a little weight - because there aren't any. Or at least almost none. I'm not huge on needing mega consequences in RPG's but at least a little bit would've been nice. I at first used stealth while lockpicking for example, until I realize there was no need. No one cared, outside of one or two specific quest times. >.> =========== I think I am nearing the end of Hogwart's main story and am sorta rushing to get that finished now. Haven't explored the lower half of the world very much. It must be said that this is partly because with my thoroughness, I'm already level 36, have the Collections at 90%-100% finished (which does not mean you've done, collected or seen "everything in the game", mind) and my combat abilities seem to be such that most fights last 15-20 seconds. So...there isn't a ton of motivation left for me. One could leave a lot of that for after Story, instead, but that's not my way. It's still beautiful and exploration is still fun in short doses, but like many open worlds there just isn't quite enough "to do" - or more specifically, there's things to do but it becomes very repetitive, and the loot-hunt aspect is not very engaging or imperative past a certain point. So it's just whether you have personal, small goals of your own or just love scouting the castle/landscape etc. Some of the longer side quests have been more fun, although I wish the temp-companions during those quests had more heft. Only one of them has any significance in that regard, imo. the game economy felt pretty nicely balanced at the start, in terms of being a little bit of a struggle to do what you want, but after you've bought what you can buy, there is almost no use for money that I have found, and it just stacks up uselessly. I've stopped picking it up even. That all said, I definitely got my monies worth, had a pretty good time, and while it's simple, it's a well made game world and a great effort. With the success, I hear WB recently announced more games and maybe a tv series. Hm. Well, we shall see.

Despite Ansel, this is one of those games where while I'm playing on the big screen, everything looks fantastic. So I take a picture. But when I look at them later, they seem so pedestrian/dull (or are spoilers etc). Anyway... I just liked this outfit/hat. Altho I've changed the coat again already. Someone was a little obsessive about teacups? What cha readin', Deek?

Needed a break from gaming so I alternated between snoozing and binging a k-drama rom-com. The rom-com wasn't all that great but the snoozing was marvelous. Getting a little bored of Hogwart's, might try to finish up the main plot vs. all the side stuff and call it a day. Mostly quite a fun game but going to be a once and done for me.

I made a baby! ...not much purpose to it except cuteness. They don't grow into adults, but give same resources, take up a slot in the vivarium, and you can remove/sell them. Trying to breed the "Shiny" versions but they're random spawns, don't have all. Baby hippograff's are not cute. >.> Edit: the 12 or 16 (I forget, again) limit per vivarium is annoying. They should've allowed 24 at least.

'I think I'll move to the next main quest..." "Oh wait, 18 side quests = reward, must get that" "I think I'm ready to move to main ..." "Oh wait, I should just get the next tier of Ancient Magic challenges I just need a few more." "I think I'm ready to move to..." "Oh wait, I've missed a lot of (room of requirement) Collectable chests in those areas, gotta get those" (you can see that info when you hover over some map icons) "I think I'm..." "Oh, this many combat feats gets me this, must run endlessly around triggering combats so I can do that" ...yeah, for me, one of those games.

I might've kept the fog if it didn't affect indoors as well as outside and maybe had a larger radius around the chr. that was very low or fog free or something like that so it would remain more distant. The foggy moor look was nice to have in certain places, but the eyestrain was bad for me everywhere else. I tried an ini tweak that supposedly would turn the density of the fog super low, but I didn't notice a difference at all visually from vanilla. Using staring at Hogwart's/its lake a measure, it changed not one iota, so I put it back to no fog.

I try each when I get a new one, but so far I've mostly worn the red plaid fedora for ages because reasons ... so thus, there are not enough hats. ...I don't have them all yet I'm sure. ...the jackets/robes are even more numerous.

Great, ran into the Take the Biscuit quest bug which I didn't know about before hand. The spot it's in has this giant (empty if you don't have quest) cage and while exploring I cleared the baddies and unlocked the lock, wondering if it did anything. When I got around to taking/doing the quest, the baddies respawn but the lock on the cage does not. Cannot open and rescue. It was probably hours and hours and oodles of stuff after my original visit of that spot, so not going to reload some ancient save. I think you could solve with a sql editor plus a user-created save editor or something but too much fiddly bother. Those creatures will just remain forever in their cage unless the dev's retroactively fix it.

Oh I know. Most of the costume mods on Nexus for ffxv were reshade ones for some reason, but in that case I knew it was possible without it so I only used stand alone mods so to speak. I'm not sure what the dependence on reshade for things outside of lighting/color is, it's become so dominant lately, but eh, I'd just rather not. Needing tools to create mods is a given, but I'd rather the resulting mod not be dependent on the user having it installed as well. It's funny because I do like moddability and will use a few mods here and there, but it's rare I use very many. I generally like as vanilla as possible. More often I'll just mod myself if it's simple enough, because most ppl don't create ones that fit my likes/desires. Or in some cases I deconstruct a mod and tweak it to suit.

Last of Us, episode 6 - well they finally changed something re: the game that I didn't like overmuch. It's not a big thing and it doesn't detract that the episode was still quality. And it's not that the change didn't work. I simply preferred the story/chr method of the game over the change. I don't know where they filmed the show, but man some of those scenics they shot were gorgeous. By the end of this series I am going to fall in love with Pedro Pascal, if I haven't already. I've known his name/face from articles but the only things of "significance" I think I've seen him in were Equalizer 2 and The Great Wall, which I barely remember.
-
Oh, also, that requires Reshade, which I don't and don't want to install/use. More than half of the "mods" on Nexus seem to require it. >.> Edit: there's no special reason I don't want to use it outside of just not wanting more programs install clutter and generally having no use for it to begin with etc. - although if it unlocked Ansel I might. Might. Haha.

FFXV has Denuvo/they've never removed it. The unlocker someone made for it was an .exe that I assume injected/altered the game exe with that stuff. When FFXV patched, Ansel lockout would reset, but I'd just run that unlocker script again on the new game .exe and it would work again, lol. But yeah, I'm sure it's different per game and I don't know if newer version of Ansel would even allow for the same method of tweak or not. Never know they could've blocked it somehow.

Other non-Ansel/hex'ing of Hogwarts: --why oh why didn't they put in a disable all HUD toggle so one doesn't have to constantly uncheck 10 (whatever) things, then recheck them again?? --if you want to rescue caged beasts, stand as far to the side of the lock/door as much as you can before unlocking it, or the beast pathing may bug/glitch and it won't exit the cage, meaning you can't then rescue it via capturing it. If it doesn't exit its cage you can try to move far around to see if you can trigger it.

There isn't anything specifically for Hogwart's. There are mentions re: FFXV and Hitman 2 and 3 and some others, where I was thinking one could take that info and spend a lot of time looking for the right offset or calls or whatever terms, in Hogwart's exe (they would be different I'm sure). This one is theoretical removing of restrictions for anything by disabling checks and creating a sort of toggle? This would require an nvidia/github account (I think) to access Ansel SDK tho, which I have never tried to get yet. https://gist.github.com/FransBouma/a322a80ed9f51114371ca32c4db4808e For games like FFXV/hitman etc, they tell you what offset to change in that particular game's .exe. I don't know if you could figure that out "alone" or if it's a code you'd find via the method above. Or if any of this would even work currently/new games. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1325152608
