You can always not read/fast click away and then toss darts at the screen when a dialogue number choice comes up. ...actually, I feel like I do that half the time because even tho I do read (or at least skim through) it all, I don't remember details for long enough to always feel like I can make an informed decision. In one eye and out the other, sometimes...

Boxed Version, Key already in use!
LadyCrimson replied to lelyv's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
...not a legit new copy, would be my guess. eg, you were ripped off. Either that or some oddball region locking effect. -
Yup, I felt similar just reading the one. GoT book 1 I bought at random one day and I struggled with a lot of boredom in the first half - then it became a bit interesting, and then by the last page I was "yes, I need to read the next one." Only there was no next one yet, and a couple years later I'd almost forgotten about it. Then it was suddenly this sooper popular series because the 2nd book took off or something. I find it kind of odd, really. Still, one day I'll get around to it. Although I wonder if I'd give up at book 3, too.

I definitely like the first half of PoE a lot more than the 2nd half. I could probably replay just Act1/part of Act2 repeatedly just to mess around. More maps and Raedric's whole quest/castle + a couple other small dungeons were a lot of fun. But Act3 in particular has more of a rushed feel to it. Or maybe you just get tired. I'll finish it, tho. I think I'm close to where I could get to the end before long, if I ignored doing all the side quests.

I've been mostly playing on Normal, vs. Hard, but that's pretty much what interrupt seems like to me too. Even with a lot of interrupts (say if 3 members get one in one after another) it does not = some kind of stunlock or something. The resulting delay in their action is not much of a delay. (edit) not that I've any serious testing or anything....
-
I beg to differ, but hey, to each their own. I think you misunderstand. I wasn't saying there wasn't a point to an interrupt "build", only that sacrificing points elsewhere for high levels of Perception probably isn't all that helpful if you aren't going to be focusing your gear/skills etc. on interrupt. I've been putting 14-15 in perception on some chrs. partly for the +reflex to go with their dex but also because I was curious about +interrupt. However I don't "build" around interrupt, nor do I min/max (I don't put attributes lower than 9) and frankly I don't see a huge difference on how often interrupts occur with my guys that have somewhat higher per vs. those that have the default (10). A little maybe but it's not massive. Putting the points in Might/Resolve or even Con (if a tankier type) seems more useful?

Yeah, I could see the balance aspect of it a bit, if it's totally out of whack. I thought those scrolls/spells had a high chance of not actually paralyzing or something, however, which can mitigate the imbalance a bit. Maybe I'm thinking of something else, tho. So many spells. >.> Most of the time when I think of serious cheese I think of stuff like Anthile mentioned - using tactics that = taking advantage of known AI limitations or environment quirks in a way that negates pretty much any danger to self. Like those weird certain spots in Borderlands 2 where you could squish yourself into them and were completely safe from any dmg....

Endless Paths Crash
LadyCrimson replied to clt's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
That's the current version, I believe, vs. the beta-patch. So I'll move it to the reg. Tech support. -
There will be no official modding tools, only that Obsidian would try to keep things accessible enough for modders to tweak if they so wished. So as Faydark says, modding is currently via using tools re:Unity engine to extract/modify files/settings, art skins, sounds. Whether modders will find ways to get much beyond that, only time will tell.

Why is using something that's in the game (paralyze scroll or prone or similar spells) considered cheese, now? It's a legit tool the game gives you, not an exploit of some wonky game mechanic. I get not everyone wants to use those advantages, but that personal type of preference doesn't necessarily make something "cheese" if others do use them. Just curious.
-
That horn was really cheap pre-patches. Didn't read that reddit link but for most that I've seen, soloing seems to involve a lot of what some might call "cheese" tactics. Which imo isn't a bad thing - must be crazy hard to solo on PotD etc. and using every advantage (summon items say)...don't see anything wrong with that.

What's on the idiot box Part 4 (or something)
LadyCrimson replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Way Off-Topic
Blood and Glory the Civil War (H2 series). The narrator is terrible and there's nothing in it I don't know already but it's definitely interesting to see all those photos I'm so familiar with, in faded-photo color form. I've seen some of them in web articles, but in a way more intriguing on the big TV, the way they often start with the blk/wte then fade-in to the new colorized version. Still doesn't look very natural to me (colorizing) but a lot better than the old days. In the end however I think I still prefer them in black and white, whether portraits, shots of armies by cannons, or the battle aftermath shots. There's a starkness that the obvious colorizing effect destroys. Just me tho. -
Durance may like his staff, but it's not glued to his fingers. If you have no need/want for more melee, give him a pistol or bow or a wand, whatever you wish. Some of his spells means he'll get up closer occasionally to cast, but at least he won't be distracted via trying to get close enough to whack things when he's done casting.

Patch
LadyCrimson replied to deek501's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
You make sure you're in "online" mode and most likely the game will start downloading automatically if there's anything new to download. If it's the first time you're installing the game, it just automatically downloads/installs whatever the latest version is (1.03something). -
Missing Tiny Obsidian Wurm

I believe the wurm was for $50+ tier backers, just as information. -
Feedback Forum?
LadyCrimson replied to Eos's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Technically speaking, I'd consider all bugs as technical support issues, since something isn't working as (likely) intended, even if it's not about the game causing sparks to fly out of the computer. And the Backer Beta forums have been archived (read-only). -
Sleep...definitely didn't get get enough last night. Too late to bed, too early to rise (the wake up syndrome). Now I can't stop yawning. But if I go back to sleep now, I won't wake up until evening, then I'll stay up too late, and ... I don't know if not enough sleep is harmful to the heart in the long run but I do know intense struggling to stay awake can feel mighty exhausting physically in the short term - fighting a tide as it were. But the two things aren't always mutually tied together. Sometimes you can get little sleep and it's not much of a struggle to just stay awake, other times the lead weights never come off.
