Maybe they'll pull a No Man's Sky and in three-five years it'll be (sort of, mostly) the game they promised. Re: the jetpack - is there any "trick" where you can use another chr. command to force horizontal movement? NMS has this thing where if you press melee attack with jetpack hotkey it does a long burst of fast forward momentum while punching the air. Nowhere in the game is this mentioned anywhere that I know of, and it took me forever to discover it by accident. Without it jetpack in NMS re: forward - you go forward but it's similar where it's very slow/feels kind of pointless. Good for getting up steep cliffs/out of holes, mostly. Edit: it's possible they don't generally want fast forward jet pack/exploration simply because the graphics wouldn't keep up with speed - ie, a lot of draw pop-in when you land/stop. You get that in NMS, even for shortish distances, a lot.

postscript: If it wasn't for hubby's back (or if I was single) I'd probably eventually just find one of my old "Junker" cars used somewhere. Like the '74 Toyota Corolla 2-dr coupe. Or this orange '77 corolla hatchback. No fancy AI/computer chips/cameras/screens etc. I weirdly miss them. Although I don't miss their ability (or lack thereof) to pick up speed going up hills. Simpler times.

Ah. So metals. I remember a decade or two ago when it was copper, people stealing pipes/wires, fixtures/towel bars and whatever else, from anywhere/neighborhood. Seems like it would've been easier to go under hubby's van for a "quickie" hack theft of that sort but what do I know. Not that one (known) attempt in 40+ years is something to get fussed over but if hubby's back=no need re: workspace/that old van anymore maybe we can turn into 1 car family and put in the garage. I've been considering us going to 1 car anyway if we can find something we can be both easily drive. It's extremely rare we need two cars anymore.

Neighbor told us they saw some kid/teen crawling under my car in the wee hours. They shouted at them, scared him off, but he was doing it again not long after. Reported to cops, sirens finally scared him off etc. Cops didn't knock on our door - or if they did, we didn't wake up Guess past few days there's been some other weirdness like that reported. Troublesome teens. The way my brain works I wasn't thinking about safety concerns but rather why in the world someone would want to crawl (repeatedly) under a very low to the ground, very old small passenger wagon car. Any metal worth stealing under there? Lost a cat? Our driveway/garage front is pretty lit up, btw. Not a dark hole. Not a very good hiding spot. Edit: oh and yes, Happy 2024, everyone, hope it's a good one.

Oops. I'm in the dancing rooms of YT again. Irish dance routines to modern music, loved it. Also, double-checked - they're actual older/younger brother, not greenscreened. -

Hubby's rental car this week was a Toyota Highland Hybrid. He said it was a little more comfy than our own cars but not extremely so. I was curious and checked the height of the rear cargo door for my ability to close it by hand. Nope, can't reach, just like that Subaru I almost bought a while back. I know I know, keyfobs and electric switches, but hey, what if the car battery is dead? lol. ...if I ever need a new car, maybe I'll just get a scooter with a couple giant side baskets.

Looks ok for what it is - I lol'd at Bob the Beaver. That was cute.

Well, the several frames of this: ...looks fine in my eyes, although perhaps it's because it reminds me a tiny bit of the dungeon keeper 1 intro knight (haha). The rest - well let's just say it's not for me. I'd rather watch that old pixelated DK1 intro repeatedly instead. But ... well, I guess they tried?

Above Snakes put out a pretty decent looking content update, months after release. I'm sure it's nothing hugely extensive, some new quest/bounty hunter tasks/items, biome tiles etc, but it's still nice/surprising for such a small game. I'll have to check it out later tonight. Liked the game a lot as a casual/some sandbox elements adventure at the time, but its replay value was a bit low. Gives me a new reason to replay it again. -

Sweet Home is one of those in my watchlist for ages. I think I watched one episode and it didn't grab me immediately then never went back. ...there's several newer k-dramas (mostly of the romantic dramedy variety w/actors I'm familiar with) in my list but many of them still have episodes not aired. I don't watch until they're all available. (haven't watched any of 2nd season of Invincible for same reason) ...most of the time I don't finish anything now tho, so also most of the time I rarely begin. ...speaking of slow - I totally forgot about the "physics doesn't exist?" C-drama. I think it's going to be on Netflix before too long, easier to deal with then Viki...I might try it again if it does. -
Yeah, hubby finally got someone to mention air suspension (whatever that is/why it's different, I wouldn't know, hah), and said BMW/Mercedes were more likely to have that, or something. Also something about specific vehicle car seat design, maybe also related to air, or er ... I forget. Said hubby's van actually had an option for such seats back when, and one might be able to find one at a junkyard and just install it. *shrug* We weren't planning on buying a new luxury car, just to say. He just wanted to drive newer cars/check if they would be any better than what we have, and/or buy something used if he could find anything, or figure out whether he's just stuck so to speak. When he has to go back down south to original office he's renting cars, to try some that way, too. It's all an adjustment. I can picture eventually I'll be running around town picking up hobby parts, snacks and beer for him.

Finally tried to watch Meg 2. It is not worth watching. The "evil miners" arc shouldn't even have existed and it took up way too much screen time. Felt like they lost most of the self-awareness nods the first movie had - eg, took out all the fun. So what you have left is a boring/dull wanna be more serious, underwater The Abyss and giant sea monsters overly talky action movie. I think the giant sharks where in it, sometimes. -

Yu Yu Hakusho, live-action, Netflix, 5 episode series I guess this is based on a manga, then anime, unseen by me as usual, so from that perspective: Since it's only about 5 hours, it was easy to breeze through. Characters and any plot arc felt super condensed, no depth there - the first episode was probably the best in that area, then it goes for largely action. It's filmed all right, and the main actors do fine with what they're given. Although there was one side chr. that was really annoying, fortunately he was onscreen very little. The main reason I kept watching was the action/fight sequences. A decent combo of CGI and practical stunt/wire work or whatever, they were (mostly) entertaining to watch, with a couple standouts (purple-suit chr's solo fight was one). Definitely anime-ish, over the top, including that the fights sometimes go on a little too long. Lead chrs fashion sense a little questionable, haha. I liked it oodles better than that more recent Mortal Kombat movie. A better effort/result than most live adaptions, although again, I'd guess huge fans of the manga/anime will think it's awful, or at least a wish that it wasn't only 5 episodes (8 might've worked better). Edit: fight sequences: 7/10. Everything else: 3.5/10 Late Edit: oh, forgot, while I could see more seasons, there is no cliffhanger nonsense - it feels "complete" in plot arc sense, which is good if Netflix doesn't make more, as is their rep these days. -
Hubby test drove a few Lexus'. They weren't any better re: his back being unable to handle even average freeway road jitter w/out pain. I guess $80k cars have no better suspensions (or tires, perhaps). He was a little annoyed with the sales reps because he told them what/why he was looking for and they all gave him blank stares as if they didn't understand what "smooth/soft ride" and a bad back meant. One told him to try the 4x4 versions ... Personally I think what he needs is a custom car cushion type thing, maybe even one with side supports/straps. I find no matter how great car suspensions are, or how fancy the leather covering is, most car *seats* are quite lacking on any actual padding. Although specific tires can make a big difference too sometimes. Maybe those car dealers all have performance tires that aren't very "soft riding."

Jason Statham as "The Beekeeper." Another trailer for action "The Painter." (no one super famous) Now Aaron Eckhart as action "The Bricklayer." Hm. The possibilities are endless. "The IT Guy". "The Delivery Man." "The Wheat Farmer." "The Poledancer." ...The "Beekeeper, Bricklayer and Nobody go to Town" -

Man, even 10 years ago this would have excited me a fair bit. Now it's just "meh." Especially ... well, Netflix movie? But it is definitely fantastic to see Axel, Rosewood and Taggart on the screen together again (very end of trailer). That trio was gold. -
Sure, it's all perspective in that sense. Ppl are free to do with their hard earned money whatever they want. It's tiresome re: game marketing at this point is all. Not simply the greed aspect but also for potential game design/creativity re: such games, when the main purpose is to create a game that funnels/motivates ppl right towards the cash shop. Bah. I'm too old and inflexible now maybe.

Flashlight (turns on/off with your chr's) and laser accessories. Not all fauna can wear two pieces. I've never had pets out during combat, no clue if they use the laser. Probably need an "aggressive" pet and even if they do, I'm sure it's not very effective. I found a - hyena? dog? - animal which had six legs and unicorn horn. Hadn't seen that before. Had to have it. The one on the right - don't you want a flying Dumbo tadpole, too? Red misty mountains, or something.

I'm "afraid" any Borderlands 4 will go the same direction. I remember they wanted to do more MT/online stuff with BL3 and the audience rebelled so they pulled back - but a BL4 may not. Of course, I've lost most interest in that series to begin with, but that's not the point. At any rate, glad I didn't buy D4. You could see that writing on the Activision wall a long time ago. If I ever want more ARPG pewpew at some point I'll probably go for POE2. They look like they've made their own version of D2's Demon Hunter but dialed up to 50 - or, "how can we get guns into the game, but it isn't a gun?" - looks like silly fun.

^ Speaking only for myself, but DLC that costs $100/as much or more as the base game is not DLC. If that's not a large multiple dlc/season-pass type of thing and it's only for a bit of end game map content like a couple boss runs/collectables/1 new skill + stacks of game currency+some costume type package "DLC" or some crap like that, I rofl at them.
